Does it look better than the R8? Is it the best looking sports car you've ever seen? Please tell me your opinion. I have never seen these cars in person.
For me it is very hard to decide which one looks better. On a scale of 1 to 10 the 8C is a 15 and the R8 is a 13.5. I guess it is just the low stance and the sideblade of the R8 that I like better. The 8C is one of the best sports cars I have ever seen. Though I saw my first Aston Martin DB9 about a week ago and I just have to saw that does look better than the 8C but not as good as an R8. I guess the only reason I even see these cars is because I live in the Las Vegas area. Most common is a 911
I have owned 3 porsches (2 911s and a 928) I love them and my last was awesome, but they just don't compare to the feeling of driving the Alfa. The R8 was so refined that it took a little away from the experience for me. The Alfa had that more raw and untamed feel that I loved. The R8 seemed like you could drive it to work wearing a suit everyday, but the Alfa felt more special and was definitely more RAW and loud. Look for the link to TopGears video on the 8C. It is awesome.
I understand what you mean concerning the R8. From the specs, the roof height is lower than that of the 8C's. And it is does have that low and wide stance that I find so appealing about sports cars. I am also drawn to the side blades. The see through engine only add to the car's detail. However, judging from photos of all the cars that I have seen in sports car magazines, I think the 8C is the best looking. But you have seen most of these cars in person, so what can I say. Thanks for your reply
No It was the coupe in that dark greenish color. British racing green I think. Saw it driving out of a wal-mart near my house. IThis was the first Aston I have ever seen outside of the internet and tv. When it drove by all slow, I thought it was possibly the sexiest car I have ever seen. I personally think it is better looking. It just had something that caught my eye. possibly the 1/4 view I got at first. Beautiful car. So is the 8C but a different kind of beautiful.
I just returned from the Detroit Auto Show. It was my first trip ever to the mainland! I was disappointed because Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Porsche and Lamborghini was not there. I was really looking forward to seeing the 8c and Aston Martins! But I did get to see the SLS Gullwing and the R8 (V10). I thought that the R8 was the most beautiful sports car I had ever seen! It's design is much classier than the Gullwing! I just couldn't stop watching this Car! I kept coming back to it.
Frankly, even if the Alfa Romeo 8c and the Aston Martin Vantage V8 are more beautiful, I would be more that satisfied with the Audi R8 (V10). This car is simply stunning! Everything about the car, including it's design and proportions is just perfect! I couldn't think of a better way to design this car! I think what really drew people to the Gullwing is the way it's doors open. But it's no where near as elegant as the R8.
I can honestly say that the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is the best looking car I have ever seen. I was in love with the car. It was georgeous and exotic and had the most beautiful exhaust note I have ever heard. I preferred it over the F430, Lamborghini LP560 and the Audi R8. The car just really had a way of speaking directly to my emotions and my heart (I am quite passionate about cars) like no other car I have ever driven.
I know that from photos the 8C does look like the best looking car I have seen. Cars like the Aston Martin DB9 and and Vantage V8, look rather plain from photos. But yet car journalists can't seem to stop talking about how good they look in the flesh. So I could imagine how the 8C look in person. Jeremy, of Top Gear, really bashed the 8C's handling and ride quality. He even said that he hate the 8C. But he did say that he thinks it's the most beautiful car ever created. Thanks for your reply.
Have you seen the Aston Martin Vantage V8? How does it look in comparison to the 8C? I am not as privileged as you guys are to see and drive these cars, so I'm just curious. Please tell me.
I like Aston Martins, but to me they have a different type of exoticness. I guess it is like women. A British woman might be beautiful to look at and classy, but she is more of the good girl style. The Italian woman is sexy and spicy and full of emotion (fiery). That is the difference between the cars as well. The alfa has more emotion and fire for me than the aston, but the aston is a beautiful classy machine.
I drove both of them on that day. I was absolutely in love with the alfa 8C. It was the most beautiful car I think I have ever seen and the sound of the exhaust was intoxicating. I really liked the R8 a lot, but I just really had an emotional response to the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. The car just spoke right to my heart. I have heard the handling referred to negatively by TopGear, but it really felt like you were driving and the relationship between the driver and the car was outstanding.
This is understandable. I would expect the 8C to have more soul so to speak than the R8. But one of the best things about the R8 is that you can drive it to work everyday like a regular car then take it to the track later if you would like
Handling wise, I hear its very nervous in comparison to a Lambo. Stiffness of the ride, how is it in comparison to the Lambo? Is it choppy or its it damped more inline with daily driving.
Steering, is it lighter, are the reactions quick or is there a slight delay? How is the mid range punch vs the low range? A lot of people say the car is slow and doesn't pick up until you're in higher in the revs, meaning the peak torque is high in the rev band otherwise the car is a dog. Can you confirm this?
But this car does not like you. This is not car for american assholes.

LRKepster, one last question please! Some claim that the headlights on the 8C look akward, do you find that that is true?

The Aston Martin DB9 you saw, was it a convertible? And you said it looks better than the 8C?
