@Kiddsterable How much faster do you need? It looks like you can get tempo mapping done pretty quickly with this method. I'm still kind of a newbie with Reaper so I'm still using EOF for most things. Even if I can figure out how to do everything in Reaper I probably will still just use a combination of both because both programs have their advantages.
You need to explain more on the tempo mapping part, it all goes by so fast.. A click here and a "q" there and you're all Tempo Mapped out? I still need some help. Do you need to go through the entire song and keep setting it with "Q"? Every 4 beats or so? This is the only confusing part realy..
@6jordanf9 I know that this post is 5 months old, and that you probably have figured out that Q maps out the measure based on it's distance from the previous tempo marker
HOWEVER! there is something that most of you don't know, Q by default does NOT perform that function; that is a macro that Harmonix created that installs onto Reaper when the RBN plug-in is installed. I used to have it installed, but I formatted my computer and I was struggling to understand my problem for a long time.
ok ether im retarded or you just totally mind fucked me! i go to the first peak, press Q, turn on the metronome, count to the 4th click and then the peaks dont match the tempo please help?
Do you know what Q does? The template didn't work for me so I designed my own. The problem is that I don't have the same key commands as the RBN template. I've looked for a long time but I can't find that tempo marker.
How do you import the audio track onto Reaper? Every time i try it says i can't import it. Is it because its not the right type of file? If so then how do i convert it?
@malcolmgetscrazy You've gotta start the tempo mapping with the first beat of the song (first peak) then map to the second peak, and move the audio to the third beat. Add the count in, and tempo map from there.
I usually make all the charting and tempo mapping on Feedback. After I've finished the song I convert it to a .midi file and import it to REAPER. There I make all the final touches like events, overdrive, fills... all that stuff
@loveforleggy This is bad, as you'll never get the tempos as PERFECT as you can when you use reaper to map out the tempo. Seeing is better than hearing.
So it could be that I find the tempo on Reaper and chart the song on Feedback?
I've been using Feedback since I began making GH customs. It's really easy to use for me and a bit faster than Reaper I think, I mean in charting, so it could be that way?
@loveforleggy Get used to reaper. I used to use feedback and I thought the exact same thing about it being quicker, but once you use reaper a few times it ends up being faster and more accurate.
I'm kind of confused when it comes to tempo mapping since my song is in a lower tempo and it doesn't fit the songs tempo? How do I fix that? Awesome tutorial btw, love it.
Can't you just analyze the bpm of the song and type the value your analyzer gives you instead of mapping every measure?
