  • judging by his complexion, he also has white ancestors (most "african american" light or dark has white ancestors anyway) so i should also "travel back" to England or Ireland or wherever they were from btw last time i checked going back somewhere meant you have been there before this whole "getting in touch with my roots" thing is funny to me if it was about grand or great grand parents i can understand but cmon everybody has ascendents from somewhere else get over it

  • @NicKingPapiChulo

If you think you can judge where someone has maternal or paternal ancestry simply by looking at complexion, you don't know what you're talking about. Secondly, it's doubly stupid because there are plenty of black people in Africa, especially Niger, who have his complexion. Just because you are ignorant of this doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  • @lionzion22 yea u can tell by his skin complexion his blood is not a 100 percent black & since he is american theres like 99 percent of chance that he also has white blood in em maybe indian too but something other than black for sure i'm actually french of Cameroonian descent & my mother has the same complexion as this guy i even have uncles lighter than him & i know thats because we have white & lebanese ancestors.

  • @NicKingPapiChulo

That is wierd, because I know South Africans who have no white ancestry that are lighter than I am. I know Ethiopians lighter than I am. There are countless Hausas lighter than I am.

All Africans people are not dark, and those that are not dark all don't have lebanese or Turk Arab ancestors. Maybe you should go visit and get out of France once in a while.

  • @lionzion22 yeah south africa you have the Khoikhoi in ethiopia the somali & other ethnies & Hausas in west africa as you said i dont really kno the origins of the South african different ethnis but i do kno that somali people & hausas are mixed with other races from centuries maybe milleniums ago anyway i dont wanna get into all that so yeah maybe not all every africans are not dark...but that wasnt the point my point was as an "african american he most likely has white ancestors too isnt it?

  • @NicKingPapiChulo so why not do a researsh on that too? i was just pointing out the fact when "african americans" talk aboyt their ancestors they just think of the black side & they sometimes say "the reason why whe have light skin brothers its because our ancestor swere rape by white"s which was not always as simple as that(tho slaves rape was rife back then of course) & its funny cause technically the white person who fathered your lineage is also your ancestor

  • @NicKingPapiChulo

No. Most research says 3 out of 10 do, which means 7 out of 10 do not. At one time African slaves outnumbered europeans by a large number in america. This is how much europeans demanded african skill. All african americans are not light either and a lot are dark. You can't let something as simple as skin complexion get in the way of facts.

  • @lionzion22 1st you know that because you are dark skinned doesnt mean u dont have white blood in you anyway i'm not a specialist at that so i'm not gonna argue forever idk if the numbers you are talking about are correct or not but i'm wise enough to aknoledge my ignorance so maybe your right maybe your not i'm gonna do some deep research on that but once & for all that wasnt my point & keep actin like u dont kno what i was talkin about

  • @lionzion22 just do me favor at least aknowlege the fact this guy probably or theres a chance however you wann put it this, guy has white ancestors too(but ihe aint tryin to find out about them) please i'll be alright after that :)

  • @lionzion22 cause everybody knows "thorobread" africans (i hate that word but...) are very dark so i dont understand your point are you arguing the fact as said he also has white blood? most black people has white ascendents?

  • @NicKingPapiChulo

You are VERY ignorant. What exactly is a "thorobread" African? Africans from Ethiopia? South Africa? Congo? Kenya? Do they all look alike and all have the same complexion? What makes one more "thorobread" than the other?

I won't waste my time arguing. I can only tell you to go learn more because at this moment, you know nothing at all.

  • @lionzion22lol calm down i didnt wanna use that word like i said but i meant if you go back before the invasion of arabs & later whites thats what i meant

  • Read some of this guys editorials in the Miami Herald and you'll get an idea of what kind of screwball he is!

    General Robert E. Lee......a traitor?????

the War between the States was all about slavery?????.....since 75% or better of the Southern families didn't even own a slave it's incomprehensible for me to believe that the South suffered 300,000 casualities from fighting for something most of the participants didn't even have!

but pitts has no problem believing this garbage!

  • @Daniels37,I'm grateful toU.What facinates me is how Leo Pitts puts it!I've spent greater part of my life outsideAfrica but whenever I'm there I directly feel at home&it doesn't matter whether that country is my own or not!I visited anAfrican village with aCarribean ladyfriend&2whitesfriends!TheWhites were called upon most of the time but we not so she felt leftout&asked me why?The answer was simple:She was seen as anAfrican&was expected to partcipate!We2,didn't need any invitation for an event!

  • @ladeeda81,I'm African&so are U!Most Europeans're trying hard to shift the blame b'cos they're ashamed that their Wealth was thru the sweatof Africans.Check the Dutch Archives,OR U-tube:GO Dutch-the Netherland's SlaveTrade! It was SLAVE-CAPTURE but No TRADE in AFRICA!We're prepared to forgive after acknowledgement!TheHebrew history also holds!TheHebrewSlaves ran away to W&S of Africa from Khemet as Moses did. Most Africans stillcarry Hebrew DNA than Europeans, but that doesn't count for an African!

  • @Beesahili thanks for telling this truth, you are right on point.

  • Pitts is a victim.

  • the people of niger that you belong to are the true descendants of the biblical Israelites read the book from Babylon to Timbuktu and visit slave voyage .org

  • @DawidBenYsrayl07 ive read that book and for all you and I know people from niger and others from west africa could be the canaanites..we all know thats were the israelites got their culture, customs, lnguage from.

  • The Akan people REAL ISREALITES. There is proof and white scientist even feel this. You could be anyone dressed in a profile telling mess.

  • @SweetAdvice what's your proof of this? if Akan were Israelites they would be called "Israelites"...you can't take groups of people and label them something there not..where they do that @?

  • the reason why they live like now is because of slavery

  • are they muslim?

  • ANITAHALFORD= The biggest joke on youtube! Jewish my foot!!!LOL!LOL!LOL!

  • My last name is PITTS Im black and live in MIAMI, LEONARD WILL GO TO AFRICA BUT WONT MEET SOMEONE IN AMERICA THAT COULD BE A POSSIBLE RELATIVE. AND WE ARE IN THE SAME BUSINESS

  • Because he is learning about his roots. The history of his tribe.

  • If you share the same blood line then you should be reading on these people in Niger.

  • anitaalford, why do you waste time trying to twist reality for your own benefit. No black American's are not Africans. They are Americans.

  • the nationality ( american ) has nothing to do with the type of person you are ( african )

  • What makes a person of multiracial ancestry genetically an African? Is the the culture? That being so, then if you know nothing personally about the continent, then how are you an African. If the birth place of civilization is in Africa, then why aren't the Dutch, Africans?

  • I'm talking about black ppl, not multiracial people

  • anitaalford:You're Yet another miseducated Afrocentric on youtube, trying to twist the BIBLE yet again!

Why don't you guys just join the kkk once and for all, since you're both using the BIBLE for your rascist views!

    Reality check: BORING!!!

  • Thank God for the correction to anitaalford! I get so tired of the "True Jew" argument from racists. It's very old.

  • shut your uneducated mouth! I am proud to be an African, something which you evidently lack, hence your foolish fabrication of your heritage! YOU ARE NOT,NEVER WAS,AND NEVER WILL BE A 'BLACK JEW' so please we are all tired of your foolish wisdom. You should appreciate the fact that you came from slavery, and have still survived, yet you deny your African blood! Well you know what? we don't want your messed up racist, nasty, inferiority complexed arse either!

    BTW I blocked you first....KIZZY!

  • There was alot of migration in Africa. Some black Americans have Nubian ancestry by the Hausa tribe.

  • you're right, but they're still of African descent , and if you actually take DNA samples of Africans on the continent, you'd be surprised to see how many different ethnic tribes you'd find! I guess traditions and cultures play more of a role than actual 'ethnicity' as who really knows their full ethnicity!

  • Hausas are not Nubians. I should know. I'm Nigerian.

  • Google

    "The Hausa nubia"

Nubians still live in Sudan but some migrated.

Some of The Akan people of Ghana are isrealites. There are directly related to Ezer from the Bible.

  • oh puhlease. Why can't you people let it go. We are AFRICAN!! We don't want to be anything else. Please let it go!!

Why can't Africans just be Africans??? Why do we feel that we need to claim we're originally from somewhere else to make ourselves feel better about ourselves???

  • @SweetAdvice I'm Akan(mother is) and we are not Israelites. Stop making unsubstantiated claims. You look silly, if u African than be African stop mixing this biblical history with your tru heritage.

  • @termanology85 You are not ready to hear all their american bs abt this topic. they claim to be everything else but africans some even say they are chinese. what is scary is that they also put us in the jew israelite thing, actually the ashkenazes jews never acknowledged them the real 2 african groups accepted by every jews are Lemba people and Falashas from Ethiopia its been proven genetically. i noticed some are just doing a misinterpretation of the Bible to make themselves feel better.

  • @singuensful I feel u sis. r u Ghanaian/Akan?

  • @termanology85 Im not Ghanaian im from Ivory coast.peace

  • @singuensful ok kool. thats whats up. we all black/african..all the same people. peace.

  • @singuensful FIRST OF ALL, ASHKENAZIS ARE NOT THE REAL JEWS IN THE BIBLE. ALSO, AFRICANS IN THE WEST DON'T NEED JEWS OR ANY OTHER WHITES TO VALIDATE THEM. ALSO, YOU SHOULD STUDY THE HISTORY OF THE ASHKENAZI BEFORE YOU CONTINUE TO STATE FALSE CLAIMS. ALSO, THE JEWS IN ISRAEL DON'T ACCEPT THE CUSTOMS OF THE FALASHAS OF ETHIOPIA; AGAIN, DO YOUR RESEARCH. THE WHITE JEWS COME FROM THE KHAZARIAN EMPIRE, THEY NEVER CAME FROM AFRICA OR WHAT IS NOW CALLED THE MIDDLE EAST.

  • Think they meant Fulani.

  • i think yea

  • My DNA goes back to a group of Egyptians who left Egypt and went their separate ways. The DNA test tells you where they are now.

It has already been proven by DNA but I thought that was central Africa. Any ways those people live in West Africa now so that is how they were traced to those tribes.

  • what a joke

  • tribe, that were waring with their enemies,or went back to the enemy camp.

3.They didn't necessarily capture them so easily, remember when slavery was going on,we are not just talking about 1 ship coming once a month,we are talking armed fleets of ships, along the coast, sometimes any number up to 30,fully armed with canons etc, then you had armed Arabs on horses, coming from the North, aiding the Europeans.Anybody who is less advantaged, wouldn't stand a chance.

  • Anyway you can believe what you want to believe,BUT...the rape victim,is the one who knows, what the rape was like, and is left to prove it to the jury!

    PEACE!

  • Also how many history books tell of the Europeans that were killed by African tribes, fending them off that led the Europeans to then involve Arabs, all the way to the coastal areas to aid them. You talk about them selling their people for guns and gunpowder, selling them to who exactly? Was it to the kings who they took into slavery,or the old chiefs, who they killed because they were too old to be sold, and do you think they would actually sell loaded weapons to those who could turn on them?

  • are u trying to tell me there was no possible wayy? remember slavery existed in africa before the europeans came. as a result of tribal wars. they could have easily ambushed their rival tribes and sold the prisoners for the guns and gunpowder which could have been used in other tribal wars. how else could these europeans so easily captured and found these slaves in their villages. without help. a 4 day journey would have taken months.

  • Don't forget, the Arabs were in on this too! Now the matter of slavery already existing,it worked like this

1.Tribes fought, and the dominant tribe captured their enemies, they then became part of that tribe, hence one tribe having different dialects.

2.they were slaves in the sense that they belonged to that tribe, but it wasn't a subservient role at all. Many of they intermarried thus widening the tribe. Some ran away, but on returning to their villages found nobody,so they either joined another ...

  • Thank you. Don't be mislead by the European slavery apologists.

  • Neat. After reading Leonard Pitts for years, I finally get to see what he sounds like.

  • i advice you to go study more history. at first arabs invended villages, burning people's huts and looting people for slavery. then they were taken to the coast and sold to whites during the trans atlantic trade. africans had never had strong weapons to defend themselves. then later slavery boomed and the whites started getting slaves for themselves. do more research bro....

  • the information u have posted is not 100 % correct. africans did sell other africans to the europeans in exchange for guns, and ammunition pouder. its a known fact. however it should be noted that they were not the sole providers for the slave trade.

  • sexi: 'A known fact' documented by who? Hmmm....don't tell me THE EUROPEANS!

Isn't it funny, how at the advent of black consciousness, and empowerment, that suddenly these 'facts' are emerging, prior to that, the Europeans were all to happy to bragg about catching the Africans with nets, and buying them from Arabs, and having museums showing the implements they used in catching Africans.

This I believe is yet another ploy to bring disunity among blacks worldwide, because they are afraid of our progress

  • Oh boy... sorry i'm simply getting my facts from my history books. I am from the caribbean so trust me... we know our history. we know how we got to these parts of the world. we have no choice not to forget because evidence of the slave trade still exists on these islands. if u don't believe me i guess thats just ur opinion, but to say this another plow to bring disunity among blacks, is just ignorant.

  • Why do you say Ignorant? History books don't always tell the whole truth.Evidence of the slave trade still exists in West Africa,in fact where I come from in Nigeria, that was where all the slaves were taken, before being sold, and we have relics,of massacres of children, and babies that were too weak to have survived the journey. We even have folk songs which have been handed down from generations, telling of battles that went on between Africans and Europeans, these are facts you wont find in books.

  • u are right to a certain extent about not always believing what u read. but i could also argue the fact that you shouldn't believe folk songs wholeheartedly. you were never there to hear the 1st folk song. Were they documented? i'm not tryin to say that the facts of these songs are false but lets face it, as times goes on there is no guarantee that these songs have remained the same havin gone thru each generation. I am well aware of the massacres on foot to the ship and during the ship journey

  • I can't help but wonder that ur tryin to imply that becoz ur from nigeria ... u know more. Lets just remember that ur ancesters stayed in africa, and my own didn't. We have our folk songs, we have our documentations of slaves and their stories. we have our memorials. we have the slave plantations and slave houses and the slave holding areas. my whole neighbourbourhood is probably built over land where slaves were buried becoz we live so close to a old slave plantation

  • sexi:No not at all! on the contrary,What I am trying to do is to explain that the aftermath of slavery had an effect on those that were not taken too.We talk about oral history, there are some families that through oral history, wonder what became of their kith and kin that were stolen.Did they survive?were they killed?what happened to their decendents? People often forget that slavery had casualties both at home and away from home.

    PEACE!

  • I will agree on that much but i believe u strayed away from the whole point of my 1st post. EVERY1 had a part in slavery. even our own. like it or not. its our jobs as blacks to get past it.. NOT to forget, to educate our own & others so that slavery on this scale never happens again. i understand completely that aficans are effected by it.. caribbean ppl will always be affected more becoz 95% of our history, the tribes our ancesters came from will never be known. we only know how we got here

  • @SexiAlmonds I had to "set it off once in my classroom" when a white cheerleader coach/so called history teacher tried to lay all the blame on Africans. She said so don't you all dare sayyyyyyyyyyy that whites enslaved Africans. I said, hold up right now. In America we have a law that the stealer and buyer of stolen goods make both involved a criminal. What the hell were whites doing there with these damn ships then? She didn't know what to say. I said, they were there aiding and abetting!

  • @vixxy02 I happen to be watching this particular video and you were mentioning the effect of Africans who had their loved ones taken in slavery and the aftermath and what those who were not taken must have endured. I have often thought of that. I remember reading Olaudah Equiano's story and I remember crying uncontrollably when I thought of his mother whom he was very close to how she must have felt to come home and to discover that her son and daughter had been kidnapped! So sad!

  • @vixxy02 When on youtube, I always look up African videos because I am interested in my history that was stolen, and I spend hours on youtube doing that. So much so that others are saying you love Africans, just go on and admit it. All you do is watch African videos. I tell them, I'm African and so are you. I love black people. So often I come to the videos and find the finger pointing and name calling so painful and I don't understand it! Why are we hating ourselves! It disturbs me!

  • Correction: Oh boy... sorry i'm simply getting my facts from my history books. I am from the caribbean so trust me... we know our history. we know how we got to these parts of the world. we have no choice not to forget because evidence of the slave trade still exists on these islands. if u don't believe me i guess thats just ur opinion, but to say this is** another ploy** to bring disunity among blacks, is just ignorant.

  • Nice copout. Without europeans, there would have been no transatlantic slavetrade. Even Shaka Zulu's mfecane (or dificane, depending on your point of view) wouldn't have happened without the weakening of kingdoms by portuguese slavehunting. First they destroy, then they blame the victims for 'chaos'.
