The thing that makes this video good, as @Npeo said, is how they are actually in a recording studio, using real insturments and having fun. And, of course, because Weird Al is in it.
what i find ironic is that Al knows way more about music than most of the people he is parodying. kinda makes me laugh when i hear people say "oh hes only famous for using other peoples music" The man is a genius!!!
And i cant wait to see him in Spokane next week!!
What a great insight into how his songs hit the cd's! Love the behind-the-scenes peek. I've been a fan of Al's since I first heard him on Dr. Demento back in the early 80's. It's nice to see that he's just as serious about his art as I thought he was. Thank you, Alfred. You make my life more smiley.
I love that Al doesn't do anything half-way. When there's clapping, it's really the whole band clapping. Al's the one in there directing the cellist. Steve Jay plays the flute and Al does the toy piano himself. Pure talent, all those guys!
@adrianvaksdal pretty sure it's a kinderklavier (German for "toy piano"). While it's was originally intended as a toy, a number of recordings and composition feature the instrument, and the shift towards the avant-garde in twentieth century music made a particular effort to use the instrument (John Cage to name composer).
this man really needs to have his star on the walk of fame . there was an effort before but i think it went away , its a shame that someone like Ryan Seacrest, can get his star , but Weird AL who has been in this bussiness since the early 80's has never been truly appreciated by the music community at large .
it really makes me think. I always just thought of Weird Al's stuff as silly little parodies and what not but seeing him put his heart and all this effort into it. He is just a damn fine musician!
And I've found a whole new appreciation for him. As for the quality I'd say it's harder to parody songs well now since the quality of music has really gone down from what it used to be.
I've seen this video several times and still love it. The man is so professional. I love watching him work. And the shot of little Nina (his daughter) at the end is adorable.
This is awesome!! The artists' craftsmanship: it's why Al will be remembered....as opposed to [fill in names of usual autotuned suspects here]. This is basically the opposite of the Ark Music Factory.
Is it just me or does this video really reveal how brilliant Weird Al and his band are? I honestly think some people don't give him enough credit (thinking he only takes some popular songs and changes the lyrics around). I also think the fact that so many of the original artists love the parodies is a testament to his greatness!

In an age dominated by "musicians" who don't play music or sing or compose or in any way make music in any form, but are nevertheless recognized as "stars", Yankovic continues to be a breath of fresh air. Party on Dude!
That big violin was from carnival of the animals or Peter and the wolf. I love Weird Al!!! I got to see him in concert and it was amazing!!! Does he have a kid- you know, at the very end?
@Sarbea24 Yeah, his daughter's name is Nina, he makes a point of never showing her face on camera to allow her to have a relatively normal childhood. Not sure how old she is, I think she'd be around 8 by now.
Oh so cool!!! I got to see who else has a "Protools" misbehave and some really great studio work awesome sessions players very cool now I need a Twinkie :)
I think it's very unfortunate that music has gone to shit these days. I think it's very unfortunate that music has gone to shit these days. Weird Al really has the idea here, everything is done analog, meaning they actually use cellos, trumpets, drums, big bass, flutes, and pianos. Most hip-hop music is done electronically, especially the drums. The video really has great vibe to it, which is why I liked it.

@TarSpartan I actually wonder if Al brough Brian Wilson in to help with the harmonies on "Pancreas" when it was being made. It sounds like it since the harmonies are so good.

It's pretty cool to have a look into the recording process. It's pretty interesting to see Al being so professional about everything.

Thanks for pulling back the curtain and showing me how much work goes into creating an album. Quite a long way from recording in a bathroom!
