  • If you think about it,hes gotta be the most versaitile musician out there,

  • I just went to ur concert!!! Love it!!! Front row !!!

  • Weird Al is a God among men

  • The thing that makes this video good, as @Npeo said, is how they are actually in a recording studio, using real insturments and having fun. And, of course, because Weird Al is in it.

  • 0:12 - is Soprano??????

  • @LincolnDead That's his drummer, Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz.

  • awesome

  • what i find ironic is that Al knows way more about music than most of the people he is parodying. kinda makes me laugh when i hear people say "oh hes only famous for using other peoples music" The man is a genius!!!

And i cant wait to see him in Spokane next week!!

  • all i can say is the dude knows his music

  • LOL inside of piano accordian (bass section) at 7:42?

  • i never took al seriously, but after watching this, this guy is really something! much more talented than most so-called-musician out there nowadays

  • Al is brilliant. Thats all i gotta say. I hope to meet him one day. Maybe after his orlando show coming up in october

  • Is that als kid at the end?

  • I've gotta say, the a-e-i-o-u on the jew's harp impressed me a lot :)

  • What a great insight into how his songs hit the cd's! Love the behind-the-scenes peek. I've been a fan of Al's since I first heard him on Dr. Demento back in the early 80's. It's nice to see that he's just as serious about his art as I thought he was. Thank you, Alfred. You make my life more smiley.

  • Search for "Lazy Guy Look at me now" it's possibly the best parody song ever made

  • Wait a minuite this guys a serious musician

  • This studio is his own??

  • love the new album mr yankovic!!!!!!!!

  • Pancreas is almost made like a studio Beatles track or Pet Sounds era Beach Boys with the great deal of instruments and overdubs

  • @kfsfkakf Pancreas was supposed to be parodying the sound of "Pet Sounds" era beach boys music. So you're right!

  • your screaming incorrectly that is why your head hurts. Melissa Cross bro

  • 6:16 hahahah :D

  • I love that Al doesn't do anything half-way. When there's clapping, it's really the whole band clapping. Al's the one in there directing the cellist. Steve Jay plays the flute and Al does the toy piano himself. Pure talent, all those guys!

  • what is the instrument at 3:14 called? i really want one!

  • @adrianvaksdal I want to say that that instrument is a Harpsicord of some description. Don't know for sure though..

  • @adrianvaksdal pretty sure it's a kinderklavier (German for "toy piano"). While it's was originally intended as a toy, a number of recordings and composition feature the instrument, and the shift towards the avant-garde in twentieth century music made a particular effort to use the instrument (John Cage to name composer).

  • @llucci01 Sorry about the grammatical errors in there - it's late here in Toronto and I'm still recovering from Al's Saturday concert!

  • Staring at laptop hoping the song will somehow come together on it's own :] hehe I do the same thing

  • this man really needs to have his star on the walk of fame . there was an effort before but i think it went away , its a shame that someone like Ryan Seacrest, can get his star , but Weird AL who has been in this bussiness since the early 80's has never been truly appreciated by the music community at large .

  • @mrgunnersmate since the 70's

  • it really makes me think. I always just thought of Weird Al's stuff as silly little parodies and what not but seeing him put his heart and all this effort into it. He is just a damn fine musician!

And I've found a whole new appreciation for him. As for the quality I'd say it's harder to parody songs well now since the quality of music has really gone down from what it used to be.

  • Weird Al is not just weird.

He really knows music. He can hear it in his head and bring all the pieces together. Amazing.

  • Nobody realizes that he actualy has musical talent!

  • I'd like to meet Mr. Yankovic one day, shake his hand, and thank him for being so fantastic. I sure that already happens to him a lot, though.

  • Lucky Kid...

  • Very few people realize how much work goes into what you do.Thanks Al.

  • i love how he uses real instruaments in his songs.

  • who else agrees that the drummer loos like the guy from the sopranos

  • very illustrative to watch how you made the "Weasel Stomping Day" Effects XDD

  • lol

  • my all time favorite artist - HANDS DOWN! saw the show in Stockton years ago with my ex-wife & got to meet him after. it was a real honor.

  • he looks like Tiny Tim with a mustache

  • I think weird al should add the acordion in more songs. But really, I love everything he does. Amazing guy!

  • Lololol

    "Sorry.........Yeah"

  • i like weird al but he makes good songs funny like gangstas paradise vise versa amish paradise

  • I've seen this video several times and still love it. The man is so professional. I love watching him work. And the shot of little Nina (his daughter) at the end is adorable.

Thanks, Al. Can't wait for Alpocalypse!

  • This is awesome!! The artists' craftsmanship: it's why Al will be remembered....as opposed to [fill in names of usual autotuned suspects here]. This is basically the opposite of the Ark Music Factory.

  • WOW!!!

Al really does know how to play a lot of instruments.

  • 5:59 And then i serious'd....

  • Al seems very patient with these people. That is good. He doesn't lose his temper with them if they make mistakes-so it seems to be a lot of fun.

  • I hate Weird Al—on OPPOSITE DAY!!!

  • I've loved weird Al since he made riding a bus fun. He's brilliant and totally unappreciated.

  • random toddler ending

  • Why is this guy called "Weird Al"? should be called 'extreme normal' What a professional - real craftsmanship!

  • Thank you Al for creating real music. You're a legend!

  • DANG WEIRD ALL IS ONE HECK OF A FUNNY VATO * ill spend ma money on this fu if ever had the chance

  • Is it just me or does this video really reveal how brilliant Weird Al and his band are? I honestly think some people don't give him enough credit (thinking he only takes some popular songs and changes the lyrics around). I also think the fact that so many of the original artists love the parodies is a testament to his greatness!

  • 1:25 I couldn't do that without laughing

  • Weird Al's cool and all, but he SUCKS at conducting.

  • Señor Yancovic:

¿Usted hace los arreglos orquestrales de su música? (Do you orchestrate your own music?)

    Muchos saludos

    A Fans.

  • I hope he does this with his new album thats coming out June 21st!

  • 4:52 made me realize that "Don't download this song" coulda been a great acapella

  • my proton attracts every other electron in the universe with a force proportional to the product of their charges and inversely proportional to the distance between them (squared)

  • i love this

  • I want his hair!

  • In an age dominated by "musicians" who don't play music or sing or compose or in any way make music in any form, but are nevertheless recognized as "stars", Yankovic continues to be a breath of fresh air. Party on Dude!

  • @dalejosef Going by this statement alone, I think it's safe to say you know absolutely nothing about music.

  • Weird Al is a genuis, he does everything you know? He is a God sent i swear

  • 0:24 - 1:03 Virus Alert

    1:04 - 1:54 Close But No Cigar

    1:56 - 2:27 I'll Sue Ya

    2:30 - 4:11 Pancreas

    4:15 - 5:35 Don't Download This Song

    5:52 - 6:22 Weasel Stomping Day

    6:22 - 7:24 I'll Sue Ya

    7:27 - 8:33 Pancreas

    8:39 - 9:09 Don't Download This Song

  • That big violin is a cello... and sorry I don't know.

  • Hooray! weird al actually knows about music! i am content.

  • That big violin was from carnival of the animals or Peter and the wolf. I love Weird Al!!! I got to see him in concert and it was amazing!!! Does he have a kid- you know, at the very end?

  • @Sarbea24 Yeah, his daughter's name is Nina, he makes a point of never showing her face on camera to allow her to have a relatively normal childhood. Not sure how old she is, I think she'd be around 8 by now.

  • can anyone tell me which song that big violin (dont know what its called) comes from?

  • @1995nineteen sounds like Pancreas

specificaly "my pancreas is always there for me"

  • @MtzUglyDuck oh right yes thanks so much

  • Man i love that guy, grew up on his stuff. This video makes me want ot get back in the studio something fierce.

  • Oh so cool!!! I got to see who else has a "Protools" misbehave and some really great studio work awesome sessions players very cool now I need a Twinkie :)

    Keep it up guys

  • It's fun to watch the MASTER at work!

  • Go Al!! Takes talent to so da shot he do

  • guy is amazing, great talent

  • GENIUS!

  • Man this takes a lot of work!!! thumbs up for Al

  • Man this takes a lot of work!!!

  • 37 people have absolutely no sense of humour.

  • what mic is that on 3:36?

  • Comment removed

  • @kk6downing To me it looks like a type of Cardioid mic with a windscreen attached.

  • I think it's very unfortunate that music has gone to shit these days. Weird Al really has the idea here, everything is done analog, meaning they actually use cellos, trumpets, drums, big bass, flutes, and pianos. Most hip-hop music is done electronically, especially the drums. The video really has great vibe to it, which is why I liked it.

  • @Npeo ....analog means you use tapes.....instead of digital interfaces. Thats what I'm fairly certain of at least. And if they use real instruments....then they use real instruments as opposed to MIDI.

  • @Npeo ..if it were all analog they wouldn't be using Pro Tools. Music has gone to shit, but, that doesn't mean doing things digital or using plugins, which everyone does - regardless of who it is, is garbage; that's the artist/engineer/producer/labels fault for allowing the albums to sound like crap. It definitely does have a nice vibe to it though. Weird Al is hilarious.

  • @Npeo if a band could do what skrillex does then i would be picking up an instrument myself but no...you cant do the things with instruments like you can with electronics...I love rock and classical with the sympthonies lets just say I love it all...it takes talent to do what these guys do but don't take anything away from people who have moved on lol

  • @Npeo i dont think music has gone to shit i just think the skill of it has been taken out

  • 7:59- nice feet Al!

  • 3:14 EPIC PIANO.

  • I love the jumping at 2:21!! XDDD

  • I love Straight Outta Lynwood. I'm surprised he didn't do a "Confessions Part III" scene, being probably the most techno/modern/pop song on the album. But I love the "Don't Download This Song" instrumental section at the end. Have any ideas where I can hear a full-length instrumental take?

  • My fandom of Weird Al went to a whole new level after watching this video. What a talented and hardworking musician.

  • that's what I like to see...

awesome video!! I felt goosebumps most of the time along the video

  • Weird al is a really good musician.

    Many people dont realize that.

    :(

  • @TheManThatLovesJesus

I agree. I think he's also a good video director too.

about most people don't realize, I think this is the bad part of making comedy. But well.. I do my part whenever I speak about Al's work.

  • Wierd Al is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the things were close but no cigar

  • a what tool crash?

  • @Logixmaster ProTools. It's the recording software he uses apparently.

  • the dudes a parody genius!

  • oh Al, you never cease to amaze

  • lol, "not too stupid, just stupid enough". Awesome.

  • He is so awesome and he is really a perfectionist!!! But he knows his stuff!!!!:) luv him

  • @SoutherngurlNC24 Well, because they were playing "Pancreas," he was trying to capture the perfectionism of Brian Wilson...

  • he's a musical MASTERMIND

  • Sheer maniacal brilliance.

  • Feet stretch around 8 minutes is epic.

  • The to metal heads around the 4 minute mark

  • Kazaa-oooo

  • i love his hairrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • now when i listen to these songs i hear so many more parts in the complexity

  • If I could get with Oprah, I'd let her know my life long dream would be to meet Weird Al in person! I've worshipped him since I was a teenager! :o)

  • al sometime i don't which person is weird me or you,I think your the one whose weird

  • If more songs were tracked like BIG AL does it the world would be a better place.

  • this is one of the most interesting videos I've ever watched :)

  • al is thexy! XP

  • what was the song at the begining??

  • Love the hair xD

  • wow, i wonder if Frank Zappa was any influence on Al?......

  • @558productions Zappa influenced fucking everybody man

  • I don't know if it's too late or not, but I wanna see one of these for his next album!

  • Spatula City... We sell Spatulas............ And that's all!

  • Check! Check! ... CHECK!!

    Great vid.

  • @ themudball

    A jaw harp.

  • Weird Al has been my hero since I were around 4 or 5. It's great to see him make music. Thanks for making this video!

  • @vanudude u no this is his officoal youtube channel, weird al put this video on here, it says that its his account on his websote

  • @takeshitapart ya I know I'm subscribed to him! :D

  • I have never seen a celebrity that acts so kind, and normal (ironically)! Most of them tend to act arrogant and entitled. Or at least condescending to their co-workers, whereas Al seems to be nicer than many of the average joe's that I know!

  • @vanillabitty well first of all. Its wierd al. And second of all. Its uhm. Wierd al :D

  • @MaxKlemola Yes, but he still has status, fame, and a whole lotta money!

  • @vanillabitty Just another reason why he has no reason to be mean :D

  • what was that instrument at 0:06 ?

  • the drummer looks like the guy from THE CONDEMNED

  • i would do anything to meet him

  • i love wierd al! thx so much for making this vid available. al is doing a service to all future musicians and composers letting them see the wonderfully creative process from the inside. just like that little guy at the end.

the "i'll sue ya" parts made me scream and filled my eyes with tears.

    WOW! what a musical treasure.

  • Bermuda: YEAH! .....sorry...yeah...

    XD

  • I never knew so much went into a Weird Al session. He seems like a genuine nice guy. I would love to meet him some day. I saw him in Toledo last week for the first time ever, and I don't think I ever had a better time. I had a smile of my face for most of the time. The rest of the time, I was laughing.

  • He seems humble as fuck, if I was in the music industry I would have to try and work with this guy at least once. Some ppl in the studio will get mean as fuck, but Al keeps his cool and is just a damn awesome person in general.

  • I'd like to see this for the next album...

  • neat to see

  • The man's a genius!!

  • @rokinrebex22 -- Yes, Al is a Genius, although he's much too modest to admit it himself. He was valedictorian of his class at 16. Not to mention the fact that he out Brian Wilson-ed Brian Wilson with "Pancreas," and put all of those anagrams in "Bob."

  • @TarSpartan agree, but I think you will find he used palindromes in Bob

  • @benollier You are correct -- I misspoke. That's OK -- Al is the genius, not me!

  • @TarSpartan they were palindromes and not anagrams in "Bob". Otherwise, I agree 100% with your statement.

  • @TarSpartan "Bob" is brilliant! I new it was good, then I saw the original footage - blew my mind.

  • @TarSpartan I actually wonder if Al brough Brian Wilson in to help with the harmonies on "Pancreas" when it was being made. It sounds like it since the harmonies are so good.

  • I would do crazy things to be at a Weird Al recording session

  • It's pretty cool to have a look into the recording process. It's pretty interesting to see Al being so professional about everything.

  • Poor fruits.

    6:17

  • Is he like, a legit genius? Like, really is he really smart?

  • @rokinrebex22 duh

  • I always wondered why weasels getting crushed sounded like fruit.

  • Thanks for pulling back the curtain and showing me how much work goes into creating an album. Quite a long way from recording in a bathroom!

  • 3:36 CHECK
