Like RSG's driver said on the recent BBC news article, "you've got to drive it... this one hasn't got a computer on". Sand and skill vs. software and sensors I guess...
I'm not sure about being better for the environment though :-)
After the slips have ground the speed down it takes a while for the balance of power to shift back to the loco. But from 6.59 she's in TOTAL control of that train!
Nice vid, wish it had an extra 30 secs or so on the upload though as she was just starting to really pick up.
Just shows that this type of loco is not suited to the terrain, however it made it possibly with help from the 47 at the rear. Interesting bit of video.
@bramber69 Were it not for the 125 tonne Duff on the back it probably wouldn't have had a problem. Given the conditions and the tail load I would suggest that most locos would struggle.
Geat vid, bet it was abit nerve racking weather she would make it, prob should've fired up the 47 for a bit of a push! it made good viewing though to hear them Napiers shouting out. Thanks for uploading, gr8 channel also, its a like, fave & sub from me.
Deltics don't have sand, this was skill only...!

I don't mind the rubbing finger on the lens as that piece of video was quite superb. Excellent capture and superb sound!
