@stephonglzz I ignored all of the optional content on this play through, going just for the story related cut scenes. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but I had a lot of software related issues getting this to record, and had to play through the game in its entirety (with a lot of repeats of sections to fix fuckups) 4 times to get viable recordings; optional content was not the priority. ;)

@Kopfstrudel The age of a game has no impact in the voice acting. It has impact on graphics, gameplay and lenght but certainly not the voice acting. The quality of the actors is what defines that. And since Simon Templeman and Micheal Bell are awesome....
This game is in my opinion one of the best of all times. The story line...plot....characters....and everything was well conceived. I could never get tired of playing this game....and i'm 41 y/o. The soundtrack is a classic....for those who don't know...the soundtrack was scored by Information Society...a very popular newave/dance group that charted a couple of dance hits...THANKS....

A good way to avoid Kain's lightning is to use the Force Glyph. If you time it correctly, Raziel dodges the attack, and Kain teleports to another location (usually facing the throne). Random tips, yay!
It's a real shame the PC version's music didn't like changing.
I did find a workaround, though. Pause, then unpause. The music should switch. I just recently found this out, since I found the old disc. Dug out my old laptop and started playing it again. Happy days. :D
I played this on a demo disc in '99 (I was in kindergarten) and I had no idea what this game was about, I just thought Raziel looked cool (didn't even know his name). Now, looking at LP's this is probably one of the best stories in a game series for me. I wish I could find the whole LoK series on PC, but it's hard to find places that sell it online.
@techonoko1 they shouldve called it box pusher 3d,lolz, i liked the fighting system and the plot but i think they shouldve stayed in 2d till the ps2 came out, damn them for not knowing, hahaha. and the puzzles killed it and the fighting system was ahead of its time but way too slow, and not challenging, the first one sofar in my oppinion was one of the best launch titles for any system ive ever played.thank god they kept the same voice actors,come on man, im being fair at least right? lulzzzz

Raziel is EVIL as Shang Tsung,i mean he's more evil than Kain,he take the souls,they cannot find peace. Curse that Raziel/Shang Tsung. Now you get it.
@LOKBLUDOM3N Ya gotta look at it this way, Shang Tsung is the greater evil because he didn't need souls to survive, He just took 'em for the fighting abilities. Raziel need them to survive. He doesn't just eat souls just because it makes him feel warm and fuzzy, Like you and me and all life, he needs to eat. Like vampires drink blood, zombies eat flesh/ brain, and Pacman eats pellets. So Shang Tsung and Raziel = two totally different people.
I noticed that in PC version music don't changes dynamically (the track have to meet it's end before next could be played). And there is no spectral versions of soundtracks. Why? I also played PS 1 version and I know that when Raziel encountered Kain first time the music changed to Raziel's Theme :P So sad, cuz music is genius in SR and really fits to the events...
feel free to call me as an idiot but this game is the best game that've ever created by the hands of a mankind for me. I'm 24 and played so many new/old games but none of them had this strong storyline and athmosphere which makes you a total addict. all those gylphs, enemies, conversations, world shifts, mazes... everybody should play this game at least once in their life.

this must be the dreamcast version cuz I just got done playing this on PS2 and this looks so much better, also the music is a little different on this scene
There isn't a PS2 version (there's a PS1 version...), and this is the PC version. Honestly, the best way to play it right now is to use the PS1 version and play it on an emulator with all of the enhanced graphics options turned on. It actually looks pretty good, when played that way.
I didn't say I played a PS2 version I said "I just got done playing this on PS2" In case you dont remember PS2's are backwards compatible with PSone games

Never claimed to be. You've got to understand that in the process of making these videos, I had to play through each section of each of these games a number of times, due to graphical problems with Fraps, video capture errors, general gameplay faults, or whatever. The SR1 videos alone took about 15 hours of playing to get. A 'normal' playthrough of the game takes about 4 hours tops. So by the time I got a video I was ready to post, I really didn't care how crappy the gameplay was.
Raziel was supposed to be imprisoned inside the Reaver....but when Kain strucked down Raziel with the Reaver,the sword broke,but then the prison of Raziel was destroyed,why didn't Raziel came out as a wraith and instead he became a wraith sword?
In Defiance the Elder God threatens Raziel that if he goes back in the material realm,he will surely be imprisoned within the blade,which means that if the blade is destroyed his spectral essence will be freed,why then is his spectral essence freed in the form of a spectral form of the Blood reaver?
what happened was the blade shattered because raziel was it's walking talking twin. without raziel the blade is nothing but a normal sword that thirsts for blood kinda like ashrah's kriss blade in mk armageddon and deception. just play defiance and get to the point where kain kills moebius, afterwards raz and the elder god have a convo for about a minute than he comes back in moebius's body and tricks kain into killing him than raziel and the reaver become one thus the true soul reaver is born.
Uhhhh (-.-),i dont care what happened to the material blade,i asked why the imprisoned Raziel is not released from the blade when it is destroyed.
I have played Defiance,and at some point Raziel asksJanos why would the ancient vampires made a blade that woul imprison him,which means that if the blade is destroyed Raziel will be freed,and my question is.....why Raziel is released in the form of a wraith-blade?
The Soul Reaver is the harvester of souls for Elder God. To become the Reaver, Raziel had to be devoured by the Lake of Souls and left for dead.
The Blood Reaver and the Wraith blade devour Raziel, unwillfully, as two different entities. See the similarity? In the act of devouring, his soul becomes the blade, similar to how he was transformed from Vampire to Reaver initially.
To be free, the soul reaver title, and thus the Elder God and the Wheel of Fate must be destroyed.
The Soul Reaver is an immortal entity that cannot be killed.
When he encounters the Soul Reaver the first time, the sword shatters because a reaver cannot be killed. Raziel cannot reave himself, so he simply bonds with it. The sword is destroyed.
In the past he encounters the Blood Reaver. He uses it, but it turns on him - it devours his corporeal form and thus, his ability to exist, and he becomes one with the blood reaver, making it the soul reaver he encounters later. Wikipedia helps 2 :D
But I know for a fact, that it wouldn't be nearly amazing if it wasn't for the voice casting. The dialogue and how it's executed is one of the finest examples of voice acting and direction I've ever seen- video game, movie, anything.

@techonoko1 they shouldve called it box pusher 3d,lolz, i liked the fighting system and the plot but i think they shouldve stayed in 2d till the ps2 came out, damn them for not knowing, hahaha. and the puzzles killed it and the fighting system was ahead of its time but way too slow, and not challenging, the first one sofar in my oppinion was one of the best launch titles for any system ive ever played.thank god they kept the same voice actors.,i thought the first lok was perfect.

@LOKBLUDOM3N Ya gotta look at it this way, Shang Tsung is the greater evil because he didn't need souls to survive, He just took 'em for the fighting abilities. Raziel need them to survive. He doesn't just eat souls just because it makes him feel warm and fuzzy, Like you and me and all life, he needs to eat. Like vampires drink blood, zombies eat flesh/ brain, and Pacman eats pellets. So Shang Tsung and Raziel = two totally different people.

I noticed that in PC version music don't changes dynamically (the track have to meet it's end before next could be played). And there is no spectral versions of soundtracks. Why? I also played PS 1 version and I know that when Raziel encountered Kain first time the music changed to Raziel's Theme :P So sad, cuz music is genius in SR and really fits to the events...

feel free to call me as an idiot but this game is the best game that've ever created by the hands of a mankind for me. I'm 24 and played so many new/old games but none of them had this strong storyline and athmosphere which makes you a total addict. all those gylphs, enemies, conversations, world shifts, mazes... everybody should play this game at least once in their life.

There isn't a PS2 version (there's a PS1 version...), and this is the PC version. Honestly, the best way to play it right now is to use the PS1 version and play it on an emulator with all of the enhanced graphics options turned on. It actually looks pretty good, when played that way.

Never claimed to be. You've got to understand that in the process of making these videos, I had to play through each section of each of these games a number of times, due to graphical problems with Fraps, video capture errors, general gameplay faults, or whatever. The SR1 videos alone took about 15 hours of playing to get. A 'normal' playthrough of the game takes about 4 hours tops. So by the time I got a video I was ready to post, I really didn't care how crappy the gameplay was.

One thing i never understood.
Raziel was supposed to be imprisoned inside the Reaver....but when Kain strucked down Raziel with the Reaver,the sword broke,but then the prison of Raziel was destroyed,why didn't Raziel came out as a wraith and instead he became a wraith sword?

In Defiance the Elder God threatens Raziel that if he goes back in the material realm,he will surely be imprisoned within the blade,which means that if the blade is destroyed his spectral essence will be freed,why then is his spectral essence freed in the form of a spectral form of the Blood reaver?

what happened was the blade shattered because raziel was it's walking talking twin. without raziel the blade is nothing but a normal sword that thirsts for blood kinda like ashrah's kriss blade in mk armageddon and deception. just play defiance and get to the point where kain kills moebius, afterwards raz and the elder god have a convo for about a minute than he comes back in moebius's body and tricks kain into killing him than raziel and the reaver become one thus the true soul reaver is born.

I have played Defiance,and at some point Raziel asksJanos why would the ancient vampires made a blade that woul imprison him,which means that if the blade is destroyed Raziel will be freed,and my question is.....why Raziel is released in the form of a wraith-blade?

The Soul Reaver is the harvester of souls for Elder God. To become the Reaver, Raziel had to be devoured by the Lake of Souls and left for dead.
The Blood Reaver and the Wraith blade devour Raziel, unwillfully, as two different entities. See the similarity? In the act of devouring, his soul becomes the blade, similar to how he was transformed from Vampire to Reaver initially.
To be free, the soul reaver title, and thus the Elder God and the Wheel of Fate must be destroyed.

The Soul Reaver is an immortal entity that cannot be killed.
When he encounters the Soul Reaver the first time, the sword shatters because a reaver cannot be killed. Raziel cannot reave himself, so he simply bonds with it. The sword is destroyed.
In the past he encounters the Blood Reaver. He uses it, but it turns on him - it devours his corporeal form and thus, his ability to exist, and he becomes one with the blood reaver, making it the soul reaver he encounters later. Wikipedia helps 2 :D

That was because Raziel was already inside the sword that Kane used when he struck Raziel. It couldn't kill itself, so it was broken.

The entire Legacy of Kain series is so amazing.
But I know for a fact, that it wouldn't be nearly amazing if it wasn't for the voice casting. The dialogue and how it's executed is one of the finest examples of voice acting and direction I've ever seen- video game, movie, anything.
