  • I remember this

  • Heppe !!!

  • yes it was a 'normal' stage, in that it was a road stage. the unusual thing is that both riders got declassified for irregular sprinting and were placed equal last on the stage.

the 'win' therefore went to the rider third over the line - which was mario traversoni. usually a rider who is declassed from a sprint is placed last in his group. of course in a group of two this wouldn't work.

the judges were busy in 97, tom steels got thrown off the race and erik zabel had a win taken away too

I remember this stage, it was in Dijon, the rumor was that Jens Heppner was upset about Bart Voskamp beating his teammate Christian Henn a year earlier where Henn was doing most of the work and Heppner saw himself in a similiar situation and just could not stand for the same thing to happen to him

  • @thisisstupidtoo it was very childish on Heppner's end, because Bart Voskamp did nothing wrong at all, he was just using tactics to beat both riders

  • I did not get it,

    what happened on the end?

    is it a normal finish?

  • Shame Voskamp didn't win.. He used to live next to me.. He sure wasn't pushing

  • unfair, voskamp should have won.

  • I remember this sprint. They were very negative, they lost the stage! Incredible.
