  • Does the gi bill pay for mba programs?

  • *tear* this is beautiful

  • @robbyownsyou999 To have the corps pay for your college, you need to enlist (bootcamp), then apply for an enlisted to officer program, then go to college, then to OCS! Good luck!

  • Im confused... I need the Marine Corps to pay for my college and I want to become an officer... So do I have to go to boot camp, then college, the OCS? Or college, bootcamp, OCS?

  • @robbyownsyou999 or you can enlist in the reserves, and after you get done with college you go into OCS, go talk to a recruiter about it

  • Master Gunnery Sergeant says it all, we must find and properly train people that can inspire ME.

    Exactly!

In my best estimation this class based over-educated system, does NOT do this.

    Not at all.

It is ineffective, it is *very bad* for morale, and is plainly right-out-in-the-open asinine.

    This system is TARFU.

  • i hate that you have to have a bachelors degree to be an officer. i want to be a marine. not a squint

  • Does anyone know what is the minimum service obligation for a marine officer? is it the same as the enlisted?

  • @Spyke2789 4 years active duty. 4 years inactive

  • I'm confused do you go to OCS and then boot camp or is OCS just the officer form of boot camp?

  • @Alextehmusician 2nd one but you need a bachelors degree or sign up for NROTC to train while earning your degree

  • @Alextehmusician just the officer form of bootcamp.

  • I'm going to PLC this summer. Can't wait.

  • i can still taste that quigley water

  • @devildog7494 The lens cap ain't on lol, it's just a dark lens, you can see a reflection on the glass itself.

  • I am going to be an officer!

  • trying to get accepted to PLC!!!!

  • @sbpin0yb0y91 I heard they froze PLC slots for this summer, apparently they didn't have enough ppl doing it. I was disheartned when i heard that

  • So there will only be seniors this year? Where'd you hear that from

  • I really want to be an officer. I know I can do it, I have the motivation!

  • my freind is in the us army he said its good and my other freind is in the marines

  • Holy fuck, I can't wait! Semper Fi!

  • The Quigley is the easiest thing you do at OCS. Don't worry about that. Worry about getting a heat stroke or not eating you food fast enough, or not being able to take a poop before you go on a hump. Those are things to worry about.

  • I am a graduate of PLC-C 207 and I didn't mind the Quigley up until the day we had a black flag while up to my torso in water. I don't think I've gotten all the mud out of my jungles to this very day.

  • you can make the army a career with out becoming a osc officer rite ?? i mean i wanna make a career out of being a ranger or a green beret if i got what it takesss

  • @doiinqurmomxD Yea man you can go career as an enlisted man but you have to be an NCO to get into special forces

  • @doiinqurmomxD yeah of course dude

  • @devildog7494 whahaha rolfmao

  • 15 people are the army rotc because OCS is cooler

  • @PantherxEddy haha i kno a person thats in the army rotc at the school i go to and they r such an idiot...i honestly dont kno how she passes her fitness..let alone they had a broken foot and milked the injury so they wouldnt have to do shit...its pathetic in my opinion

  • @PantherxEddy Im guessing you havent been to OCS because nothing is cool about it lol

  • semper field-dayus!!!!

  • :57 what is that?

  • I think I just found what I'm going to do with the rest of my life... In this banner add advertising job openings at McDonalds!

  • is it worth joining the Marines with an engineering degree? i notice they don't have any jobs in that field. would it be difficult to find a job once you get out?

  • @poolie626 If you are getting a degree in engineering, you should look into either the Navy or the Air Force. They are the departments with more engineering positions.

  • @TheRipeMango thanks a lot, i sat down with a Marine OSO, and yeah, I'm not going USMC. I'd like to but the benefits just aren't there for engineers

  • @TheRipeMango there are engineers in the marine corps

  • Question: haha....Say You go in the Marine Corps and do boot camp and everything, without any college...and so while your in usmc, you do college and get your 4 year degree, can you then go to OCS?

  • @WorldChampBandgeek, and does it matter if you can be a officer in a certain MOS? like i want to be in the band, but you cant be a officer unless your a instructor.

  • @WorldChampBandgeek

Yes thats what Im doing because I have less than 2 years left in college so Im going to the marines with a OCS option.

  • Research in becoming a "Mustang" that would pretty much guarantee you being an Officer in Recon..

  • @American0313 Wrong. Once you are at TBS, your prior enlisted MOS has little to no bearing on your officer MOS. TBS employs the quality spread where they break the class up into 3rds and Lts are assigned MOS based on their preformance. The best bet for becoming a Recon officer is to go Ground Intel. Once you complete all the MOS training and extra schools, you have the chance to take the Recon indoc. If you make it, you are assigned to one of the Marine divisions as a Reconaissance officer.

  • @American0313 However, it's all situationally dependant. In order to get a Ground Intel MOS, you have to basically be shit hot and near the top of your class at TBS. There are like 1 or 2 of those slots per company. The follow on schools for Ground Intel are Infantry Officers Course, Scout Sniper Platoon Commander's Course, and Ground Intelligence Officers Course. Whether you are assigned to Division or not after this is a toss up though. Needs of the Corps and all that.

  • That would pretty much guarantee you being an officer in Recon..If you go straight Officer your odds of going Recon are low..its just how it is..Say you become an Officer as an '03' Grunt; from my understanding they tell you where your going..I dont think Recon comes by O.C.S. lookin for bodies..and I dont even think you can volunteer for it.. You might think that is absolutely retarded; but many things in the Corps are..

  • If ur lookin to make a career out of it.. I personally would join Enlisted as an 0311; Upon arrival at S.O.I. at least when I went through..Recon comes through at some point in time during training asking/looking for volunteers..GT Score 110/1st Class PFT will get you in..the training that is..just dont get hurt and stay committed....After your 4yr contract is up you'll be lookin at a E-4/E-5 Paygrade..and your re-enlistment..

  • How can you be an officer and still join Recon?

  • Chesty would be pissed as fuck right now..

  • Before joining i recommend doing your own research..Maybe start with a "google search" the following topics "Pentagon funding Al-CIA-DA in Libya" I Meant AL QUAEDA ur whatever they call themselves.. A must see flick is "Fall of the Republic" on youtube

Many of us love our country; dont find out the hard way.. as I did "Your not fighting for our Constitutional Republic...thats all I can say...

  • three years and im at OCS...time to start preparation!

  • i want to become a Marine Officer but i'm really hating the fact that i have to go through a THIRD boot camp! (Army Enlisted, Marine Corps Enlisted, now OCS if i go)

  • i wanna do this after college shit ima go for it baby

  • 3 years

  • Thumbs up if you hate the chow hall bridge!

  • @wetbutter Integrate! Integrate! Integrate!

  • @devildog7494 it's clearly a polarizer...

  • @devildog7494 looks like a polarizing filter

  • they forgot about the naval academy

  • how many miles do you run during ocs?

  • @OperationAnimie their goal is to hurt THEMSELVES, not the enemy

  • @devildog7494 it's off, you can clearly see lens glare

  • Personally, I think prior enlisted marines make better OCS candidates. No disrespect to candidates straight from college, I'm pretty sure they make great leaders. But, enlisted marines have more experience in the corps.

  • @Ga5524

Experience goes a long way. But over confidence can hurt as just as bad as inexperience. It's the open and flexible mind that can critically analyze a situation that is required of a leader. With respect to prior and non-prior officers... let's just say there are 2 sides of a coin... and both could end up on either heads... or tails.

  • I graduated on Friday, July 8th, 2011. OCS was the hardest thing I have ever done. I will never forget it. Through the trials and tribulations, I have learned many things, done many things, and overcame many things. But out of the many, I have earned one thing - the opportunity to commission. I wish good luck to you all. Respectfully.

  • @steam82 i really want to be an officer i have so many questions but my most important is: Do you have to be smart? i know it sounds weird but im not he smartest person and i want to know if it plays a big role

  • @ExodusGamerZ

You don't have to be an Einstein. But you can't be mentally handicapped either.... smart is.... a subjective term.

  • @ExodusGamerZ You must have a degree. Therefore you have demonstrated at least the potential to learn and commitment to see something through for 4 years. I will be the first to tell you that a degree does not make you smarter than anyone else. What you are lacking is confidence. you are already talking yourself out of it by picking out your flaws. You have to be a quick thinker and make a decision. It does not have to even be the perfect decision. Just a decision.

  • @ExodusGamerZ Hey bro, in my opinion you have to be book smart and street smart at a level. Being able to transfer that knowledge you learned in the classroom to practical application is an essential element. For instance, land navigation class inside the classroom will prepare you for calculations and objects on a map. Being able to use that information in the field on an exercise or test is where the street smarts come in. If you do not have the confidence in doing so, seek your local NROTC.

  • @steam82 You bastard, they made us go on a ruck march so we'd be out of the barracks for your graduation...

  • booger 2:11

  • only fools will join the army. I rather have 9-5 office job.

  • @mtv565 now why would you say something stupid like that.

  • @mtv565 I pity you

  • My buddy wants to know if he can still get in if he smoked pot in high school. Is this possible?

  • @lptennisjohn was he caught? If so, it's most likely not an option for OCS. Though it is possible (but you would need someone who owed you a favor or something)

  • How do I get a nominee for OCS school? I don't know any Congressmen or the President.

  • @jess1up write your local congressman, you don't need to know them. Write a letter about why he should nominate you. an ROTC buddy did this and got in to the Air force academy.

  • @kaesekrieg Alright thanks, I talked to my recruiter and that's what he said too.

  • candidate at 7:00 dozed off lol good stuff

  • my goal after graduating this year from college is to successfully complete occ and become a marine. this video just motivates me more to bust my ass at the gym and in school and to start reading ahead for occ.

  • @sandman062290 good luck! remember it is NOT about you, it is about your platoon. Integrity and perseverance are the two main things they are looking for. The knowledge is easy. The PT is hard. The mental stress is the hardest. Push through it all and put others before yourself. Be a team player and they will carry you when you need help. OCS is just an evaluation of your potential to be an officer. You will learn all the good stuff later after they trim the fat of the ones that did not make it

  • Both

  • Are infantry officers at the frontline shooting at the enemy or farther back?

  • @AudioAngerCinema I am an infantry officer and infantry company commander. As officers we lead our men into battle. You are there on the ground with them. You cannot always be there because there may be several patrols a day and squad leaders are more than capable of leading patrols. As a platoon commander in the Light Armored Reconnaissance world, I went on every foot patrol with my men because we are a small unit. In the regular straight leg infantry that is not necessarily the case.

  • 12 people are Al Qaeda insurgents scared shitless.

  • Comment removed

  • Does the USMC OCS honor bachelor's degrees from the Philippines or any other countries?

  • Well, I have a question. Where I'm from(Maui, HI) we don't have an OSO on our island. But we have a recruiter on the island. Is it possible that I'm able to talk the recruiter about the NROTC/OCS program. We the recruiter provide the info I need?

  • @UncoHoalike what they maybe do is direct you to an "officer recriuter" for OCS and when you go to OCS you will most likely leave a day or two early to get on a plane and go to your OCS depending on where your going

    GOOD LUCK!

  • Can a combat engineer also be an officer?

  • @zilla249 yes

  • One more year to graduating high school. Most likely going to apply for NROTC scholarship by the end of the year.

  • ncos>officers

  • im 14 at the moment, and i really want to become a marine (im about to finish my freshman year in high school) and the only downside is.........i have asthma.

i can do 16 pull ups straight armed and back up, and my 2 mile time is around 14:40, and my 1 mile is 6:43,

but all my physical excercises cannot be done without my inhaler, if i dont use it, i'll probably pass out.

How can i still become a marine with my asthma?

  • @XB0XFR34K they wont let you join, unless you dont need the inhaler

  • @AmericanGMS thats so much bs, i do take my inhaler but im just hoping it dies down as i get older, because i can do all this althetic things.

for example my dads in the army and hes a CW3, but on his last deployment, i developed asthma while downrange from all the dust (in iraq).

but what if it dies down if i get older and my inhaler wont ever be used? am i still eligable?

  • @XB0XFR34K if you dont need it youll be fine. ok say you are in the middle of no where and you run out of your inhaler what are you gonna do, there just looking out for your safety

  • @AmericanGMS i dont need my inhaler to breathe on a daily basis, only to run.

if it runs out i'll be fine, as long as im not running a mile or such, then i'll need it

  • @XB0XFR34K alright your still not getting it say your in combat!!! and you run out of your inhaler your gonna be fucking dodging bullets and being out of breathe and pretty much all around flipping out even jus standing there your heart is gonna be flipping out and your gonna be nreathing very heavily when bullets are flying at you

  • @AmericanGMS i do get the point.

like say im an officer that lied about my asthma, and during the time of battle and i need to tell my troops what to do, but i can barely breathe, and they look up to me and what not.

but i can run without it, im not going to flip out and breathe heavily, its not that bad

  • @XB0XFR34K alright but youll never kno until you expierience combat it might be so bad that you pass out

  • @XB0XFR34K Dude, Hopefully your asthma will die down. But if it dosen't, just be ready that they may deam you as ineligable de to physical conditions. Nt saying that you are not fit, but American GMS is right. If you get into a combat situation, you are ging to have to run, or you are gonna get a bullet right between your eys, or get someone killed because you can't catch your breathe in time. So, talk to your Dr. about it and try and work something out.

  • @XB0XFR34K You don't have to be a marine.

  • @planetofthescums what if i want to

  • @XB0XFR34K That made me laugh. You sound like my wife. Do you want to eat breakfast, take a shit, and sleep? You don't HAVE to join the marines. You CAN join the marines but I don't see why you WANT to join the marines. Wouldn't you rather NOT join the marines? Nobody needs YOU to do so. When you are 18 you don't do anything you WANT to do, you do everything that they WANT you to do. Now, if you don't believe me, just look at their attitude. We are the best, we are the best. Nobody is best.

  • Bootenants. Oorah!

  • Leaving tommorrow for OCS Seniors 1st Increment. Goodluck to the Juniors and Seniors going with me. We're in for a shitty summer lol.

  • Im leaving for boot camp in sept this year. I plan on going for a full 20+. But I looked at officer because I would like to be a cobra pilot but Im not sure if I should even bother applying since i've heard almost NO ONE gets in now.

  • I have a question, I'm in high school but is ocs required even if a do rotc in college or do I have to do ocs regardless?

  • @MIBxXxX If you want to be a Marine officer, and unless you gain appointment to the Naval Academy as a Marine option, then yes you have to go through OCS, even in NROTC.

  • Emo's won't like the Marines becuase they have to lose their stupid hair

  • Im a SGT in the USMC and I think its funny I am told by an officer not to train Marines to hard when it was the ENLISTED who trained the officers......damn college boys!!

  • Alright guys, to clear up the mis-information, there are a couple of "OCS" programs:

    1) PLC (Platoon Leader's Course): 2, 6-week sessions between your sophmore and junior years in college.

    2) OCC (Officer Candidate Course): 1, 10 week course after obtaining a degree.

    3) NROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps): You complete 4 years of NROTC and go to 1, 6-week session between your junior and senior year.

OCS is the "Boot Camp." TBS (The Basic School) comes next, then your MOS school.

  • then i guess i wont be going to OCS

  • I'm may still only be a sophomore in high school but I'm already looking forward to OCS.

  • @MIBxXxX Awsome i guest ill see you there.

  • @bob46472

good luck if you get an ok dl than you will be ok :)

  • @kiowakid2 well I'm leaving for basic in a few months so I'm not positive. Im just going with what my father said

  • @bob46472 thx just wondering i just finished basic training, and it really wasnt basic :)

  • @kiowakid2

I believe you go through basic first and then OCS. But I am not positive.

  • @bob46472 You need to have a 4 year college degree to apply for OCS

  • @bob46472 OCS, then basic. OCS is boot camp, then basic is what your MOS is. I am 90% sure of this. I talked to my uncle who was at OCS about all of this.

  • so, do go do regular regular basic training before u go to OCS or can u go to OCS first?

  • @kiowakid2 you need to have a 4 year college degree to apply for OCS

  • @Caboose56 Wrong. You need a college degree to commission as a 2ndLt upon completing OCS, but you do not need one to apply for OCS. You need to be enrolled, or have proof that you will be enrolled in an accredited 4 year college. Thats what you NEED to apply for OCS.

  • @kiowakid2 To become an officer, you go to OCS, not basic.

  • i'm going in next year just because i want to experience the war but not as a private but as an officer

  • @groovyome so basically you want to experience the war from the rear and watch the enlisted men do the fighting and you take all the credit. Nice

  • @tsugua27

He (the guy you responded to) is misinformed. . . Marine Officers "lead from the front."

    Ductus Exemplo

  • @AlesandrosX when you serve your country for 8 years like I did get back to me kid. The fact is, Enlisted Men are the Military. Staff Non Comminsioned Officers lead our Military. Not Officers.

  • @tsugua27

NCOs are the back bone, Staff Non-Commissioned Officers and Senior Staff-Non Commissioned Officers are the keepers of tradition.

Of course a Ft Ldr is a Cpl, Sqd Ldr is a Sgt, Plt Sgt is a SSgt, etc. At every level there are "leaders." That is the whole concept of Chain-of-Command and decentralization.

In a good plt, the Officer is in charge, taking advice/input from ALL of his Marines passing on orders to his Plt Sgt and Sqd Ldrs. A Leader leads, both officers & NCOs lead.

  • @tsugua27 1

The "Officer" is the individual in charge. He receives the orders from his superior, who receives it from his superior. The "Officer" or in the easiest sense, the 2nd Lt is the commander's "Bid for Success." He is ultimately responsible for his Marines and the Mission Accomplishment.

Of course none of this can occur without the damned performance of enlisted personnel. They are the Corps; everyone has their job.

Of course the Lt can't do anything by himself, in-fact, he

  • @tsugua27

Sounds like you've served with some outstanding NCOs. . . and some officers who shouldn't have been officers.

  • Comment removed

  • @iminafrat damn lol. My OSO needs to keep me informed before I drop $130 on boots! Oh well. Are bates hot weather allowed? Which do you recommend?

  • @wetbutter

You want to purchase the Jungle Bates Lites. They are significantly lighter than the boots you will be issued and well help you a lot for PT and Boots and Utes runs. For the O-course however, you will want to use one of your other two issue boots for better grip on the ropes (the Bates Lites have poor grip). You should keep one of your issued boots for inspection. -Charlie Company, 5th Platoon, OCS class 204 graduate.

  • @PapaWoodMafia I'm going to OCS on the 27th and I was informed that Bates Lights are banned from OCS

  • @jdelat6

This is possible. I was there June of last year and they were allowed then. If you are allowed to purchase them do it. If not, they are not an absolute necesity. I know a lot of people were having foot issues from wearing them on the conditioning hikes. They do not have the support that the other boots have so I really don't recommend them when going out in the field.

  • PLC Combined June 2nd 2011. Just finished an OCS prep weekend and I must say, to all those going to OCS, get a pair of boots and walk/run around in them A LOT! I have giant blisters and was told that was a reason for candidates DORing. Build those calluses and break in those boots. Bate's Lights were recommended to me. Good luck candidates

  • @wetbutter Bates Lights are no longer authorized as dictated in the OSO prep letter which can be found on the USMC OCS website. Hot Weather bates are good though

  • @wetbutter Greetings Candidate, I wanted to write and let you know that Bates Lites won't be allowed this year at PLC. Its on the OCS website. I am getting ready for PLC combined too, and I was disappointed to hear that myself. Instead I've ordered the USMC Bates Hot Weather. Best of luck! I'll see you out there.

  • The other day, i met a Marine Corps infantry Major. After greeting him and shaking his hand, my ssgt gave me info on the Major, such as he's been to so many places in the world killing, and he's a warrior! After hearing that, I almost shat my pants lol.

  • I have a good 3 years to prepare before I apply. I'm not doing this for the money and benefits. I'm doing this because I believe it's my right to protect my country. What better way to become a Marine than to lead Marines. People might say I'm crazy; even my own family thinks I'm crazy. But in the end, what really matters is that I will be proud of myself and that I will earn the honor to lead the most elite fighting force this nation has to offer.

  • @TheBackyardhooligans OCS is 10 weeks. You don't go to Basic, but you need to either have a college degree, or be in college working towards a degree. After you graduate from OCS and receive your commission, there is additional training called The Basic School (TBS) which is about 6 months. And then there is MOS school, for your occupational specialty (infantry, intelligence, artillery, etc.)

  • what are the requirments for Marine OCS

  • @123nypd You need to have a college degree or be in college. All of your medical and legal history has to be cleared. And you need to be able to do 20 dead-hang pull-ups, 100 crunches in 2 minutes, and run 3 miles in under 24 minutes (though your Officer Selection Office will probably require you getting around 21 minutes before they apply you for OCS).

  • @nickguar thanks man I can do all of those but I broke my arm years ago so idk/ Danka.

  • @123nypd They'll approve the broken arm, as long as you can still do the physical stuff. Months before you go to OCS, you go to MEPS (military entrancing processing station). It's basically an entire day of physicals. And if everything checks out OK, you'll be accepted. Good luck.

  • @nickguar yup thanks stranger God bless

  • @nickguar The Marine Officer program doesnt do MEPS anymore. Now they have a process called DoDMERB. Which is basically a physical you take on your own time, at a private physician. He checks you out, signs off on a med form, and you give it to the OSO.

  • @scooniepenn Ahh, then I JUST missed out on it. That sounds better. Went to MEPS in October or November. I'm off to OCS on June 2nd.

  • @scooniepenn I went to MEPS at the end of April. Unless something has changed in the past 2 months they still do MEPS.

  • @ratix12 Did you go there for the physical, or to handle some other stuff? My OSO office no longer sends candidates to MEPS, neither do alot of other OSO's in the Eastern Region.

  • @scooniepenn I went there for the physical (blood test, piss test, eye test, hearing test, etc.). It was done at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, NY. I am currently applying out of the NJ OSO office. Must be different for each office.

  • @ratix12 yeah. It's probably OSO dependant. Thats the same MEPS our office uses as well btw.

  • can i do ocs if i take an emt course in college?

  • what the fuck is a guy from harvard doing there?

  • @TimsterDar Probably a future leader in government, business, or of course possibly miltary who instead of being a lazy 23 yr old writing on youtube and posting blogs about how they don't like this or that, all while eating doritos sitting on their couch on a laptop, will be out there leading Marines making critical decisions that have major impacts. God forbid we have leaders in this country that have combat leadership experience and have served their country.

  • @fourblend9 i was wondering why someone with such a great mind is trying to be a marine. marines could give a fuck how smart you are, they just turn you into a killing machine.

  • @TimsterDar DUMBEST SHIT I EVER HEARD, OBVIOUSLY THIS GUY DOESN'T KNOW BEING A MILITARY OFFICER IS ONE OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS CAREERS ANYONE COULD EVER CHOOSE!! ESPECIALLY A MARINE CORE OFFICER!!

  • @maliksaadat410 I completely agree but its spelled Marine Corps not Core

  • @TimsterDar You're a fuc%ig idiot who knows nothing about the Marine Corps
