For those who are confused what the 'purple' stuff is, it is Dark Matter. Once you fall into it, you die by melting into the floor. The 'blue' stuff are holes that let you go through the ground, meaning that it is instant death if it is connected to Dark Matter. And also, I know. The sound when you die in the Dark Matter is in fact disgusting.

Really? Hmmm I thought Mario Galaxy was actually pretty hard, not necessarily to beat. But if you're trying to get all 121 stars alot of the later galaxies and challenges have you dying again and again. It's impossible to get a gameover in this game though with the sheer overabundance of extra lives. But deaths I most certainly had in the dozens upon dozens. And that fact alone regardless of seeing a gameover screen meant it was a pretty challenging game for me.
