i have same mixer. the problem is when my turntables(technics1210mk2) on 1st or 2nd channel ---> stereo signal is ok. But when they are on 3rd or 4th no stereo signal. Need i switch tie plates? Or maybe some other reason. Thx and sorry for english
@LLKiller22 Unfortunately the Xone:42 doesn't cater for this directly. You can mod a PHONO input to LINE by bypassing some components, but going the other way round requires the addition of special filter circuitry, so it is not practical to modify the mixer to do this unless you change the circuit board in the mixer for another PHONO/LINE input channel card.
@LLKiller22 the 42 is a great mixer dont get me wrong, but you will be pleased that you went with the 92 - its more expensive for a reason! Keep in mind you can order it in the storm grey edition as well, which is VERY nice looking compared to the dull grey one i had in this video.
@LLKiller22 probably not, but im not sure. Allen and Heath has been more "open source" user friendly with modding the gear to how you see fit, whereas pioneer im not too sure about.
why would i do that, why would i plug a cd player into phono in when i clearly have 4 line in plugs for that, i understand that you are converting the phono into line and then making a xone a 8 line in and no phono in mixer, but seriously what is the point of that. if theres something to be gained in this fair enough but seriously i dont see the point of this, am i missing the point here
@tajanaz07 its highly situational really - I use 4 decks for traktor, so that takes up the default 4 line, leaving only 4 phono. I also use maschine, which needs a line as well, and when my buddies come over to mix, they bring their CDJ's - so i need at least 3 extra lines so that i dont have to constantly switch the cables in the back. It gets annoying to constantly switch, so instead i can just use the push button to switch to the next set of line in.
whats the point of this, u can use all 4 channels as line/phono, just use the switch to switch between them, why do u need to take the mixer apart to do this.
This does not void the warranty at all. There are 3 other jumper settings to change other various things, and its all covered in the user manual that ships with the mixer.
That's awesome. I wish I could do something similar with my DJM-500 to get the 4th channel to accept line in. Then again, I don't have anything that would need to get plugged into that channel and would probably be better to just replace the thing.
@tr1pl3gunz it may work but then still you will have to turn the gain of the phono to minimum and the gain of the line to the maximum, you cant really use your gain then so it's not very handy.
Great video - thanks for putting it out there!

@tajanaz07 go plug your line device into a phono in, press play on cdj and then come back and look at your comment :)

Is this do-able on a DJ 800
themobiledjguy 2 years ago
I would presume that would void the warrenty?
I think i would probably just buy a couple of phono pre-amps then risk messing up a $1.5k mixer :P

couldnt you just ground whatever your using to the phono to the mixer and use it like that . ?
tr1pl3gunz 2 years ago
@tr1pl3gunz no, phono and line are very different. i believe the phono inputs sort of amp the sound. (correct me if im wrong)
so if u use a cd deck on the phono it will get overpowered (like turning your gain to max)
axis9dj 2 years ago
wouldnt it work still if you ground it and turned the gain down.

but it would work yes (i think)
