Djokovic played well and dominated the rallies in this game. But it's also true that Roger made SO MANY unforced errors, not forced errors, around 27 unforced errors per set. That is far too many. Also, all the grand slam tournaments' surfaces are slower compared to 5 years ago. Even wimbledon is slower and that hurts Roger's game. If surfaces would go back to traditional speeds, I believe you'll see the gap between Roger and everyone open again. But, Djokovic played very well.
@sultanabran1 Djoker forced him in to those "unforced" errors. He can't handle Djoker's pace from the baseline in long rallies, esp. BH to BH, and Djoker punishes his weaker shots, all of which leaves Fed with few options. If you look at the unforced errors you'll see a predominance of them coming off Fed's BH. That's why you saw him try the baseline dropshot- unsuccessfully. To beat Djoker he needs to come to the net more and go for his winners and approach shots earlier in the rallies.
I have to say, I really like how Djokovic has matured over the past year. He used to be really cocky and arrogant and that made a lot of people dislike him. It's nice to see that he's much more humble and respectful now, similar to Roger and Rafa.
@Globox822 Uhh I dunno about you, but I know a lot of people thought it was pretty cocky of him to do a shirtless interview after he won his semi at the AO '08. Not to mention all his comments about how he had just beaten the world No. 1 and his mom declaring "the king is dead" and all that....pretty cocky to me.
As for Fed being arrogant, I won't deny there's been a couple times it's happened, but I don't believe it happens nearly as often as people make it out to be. Or else...
@Globox822 nadal is selfish and huge ego player. Always get huge money. game is played in many EX. goes final by almost all tournaments. But, it is a complaint to a schedule always?
@Globox822 Nadal criticized joy of Djoko which won the victory in Madrid. Or, tired comment before Novak's final. Nadal criticized it again. ATP final lost again, said tired excuse as usual
@Globox822 Nadal criticized Sampras and past players as it having been a time of only a serve. arrogant smug. Nadal has always selfish of two-year-ranking.
Rafa has both talent and muscles; Roger has both talent and experience; but, Novak has talent and brain! Muscles, you can build on; experience, you can gain. But brain, this is something you are born with.
Bravo - for winning such a tennis player as Roger is, in three sets and for the answers at the press conference. I like his protective attitude towards Ana. We have praised him too much (although everything we write is true) but I am afraid that we will jinx him (pu pu pu) ;-) (Andy M is great player too and he is in very good shape).
@dulisha I love Roger very much. He is true class player. true greatest player. I know. Now He is an old player. But, I don't care. I always love him. And, I like Novak. also great player. good luck
@federerbestclass oh dont get me wrong even though I am from Serbia, I still think that Roger is the greatest player that ever played the game. I just dont like his comments of late after he loses a match by saying that he should have won but this and that didn't happened and hes loosing hes cool in the matches lately and thats not normal for him. He is probably frustrated cause hes getting old and wins do not come easy as they used to.
@dulisha Roger's comment? after this match. Roger said. [ My play was good. However, Novak did better play. Today, He was better than me. I feeling good and healthy. great last year for me. I wishes that it be so also this year ]
He answers in sincerity.always. To a foolish and stupid question

Thanks for beating Roger, Novak! You're the GOAT! You and Andy need to help Rafael put the final nail in Roger's long, awaited, and overdue coffin! Send him into retirement this year!!!!

@sultanabran1 I disagree. It's been discussed many times on Talk Tennis. It's more of the balls and Fed fans that complain about why he is losing.
