  • You're doing to many and towards the end you started to trash... great determination.

  • so, is this 4 minutes all he's gonna do for the day? the Tabata class I've been taking every Friday has 8 sets of 12 exercises, all 20 seconds on/10 seconds off, in groups of 4, with a little break (2-3 minutes) between each 4. Burpees are just one of those 12, but admittedly the worst....

  • Great work man. Anybody who has ever tried this knows how draining it can be. Every friend I try and show it to gives up halfway through. TIS NO JOKE!!!

  • once u can handle the 8 intervals of burpees it kinda starts to make fun :)

  • @RyanPKMusic - Tabata is 8 intervals not 4 :)

  • Yeah, well, it still won't make your hair grow back.

  • Tabata burpees? What kind of sadist are you?

  • What is a "tabata burpee" as opposed to a regular/non-labeled "burpee." I just heard about this exercise being called this today, so I'm kinda new to it. Thanks for reading :)

  • @ljlmlk1 tabata is a form of interval training, it doesnt vary the form of burpee. it is 4 sets of 20 seconds of work with 10 seconds of rest in between. no problem :P

  • Hey man, I do tabata burbees as well as a warm up. One thing ive noticed is that i can only get 8 burpees every beep, but i keep them constantly all throughout what I cALL "THE 4 MINUTES OF PURE HELL". My secret to keep 8 reps all throughout is simple: drink water during your 10 second brakes. Water will lower your blood pressure, consequently reducing your heart rate so you can keep going! Hope you still do these!

  • @andrewsch123 is this enough for a daily cardio?

  • @OssastoriumDoDs yeah man! Ever since I do these, my resting heart is about 53. Considering the fact that it's the only cardio I do, I would say it is enough. However, you shouldn't do the tabata protocol more than twice a week, becuase of the strain it causes to your heart. I therefore do it twice a week, sometimes only once. What do I do the rest of the days? burpees still, but not following the TABATA protocol. Instead i atempt 100 burpees within six minutes. A real challenge!

  • @andrewsch123 All right! I am a beginner you know... I was told to do burpees at the askscooby forum. Many thanks!

  • @andrewsch123

does that really help? i think i might follow what ur doing

  • badass!!

  • Fantastic video - gymboss timer? I love how it captures the feeling of not being able to move enough air through your lungs. My intervals usually end in the fetal position too.

  • The only reason you'd "dislike" this is because your a wuss! Nice job. Love tabata.

  • i did it and i was mad like crazy all the way til the end.its hurst u wanna die.but at the end ur happy cause it works

  • i couldnt pass round 4 :s

  • I did these yesterday and after the first cycle my vision was blurry, then my legs were burning, and by the time i finished i had to lay down coughing for 30 minutes.Damn that feels good

  • Definitely the best burpees I've seen. Very impressed with how good your form stayed straight through to the end -- in fact, as the workout went on, you started beginning your jumps from an even lower squat.

  • youtube is full of tabata demonstrations where people basically doing interval at 80% to 100% vo2max intensity...they dont really qualify as tabata...now this dude is the only one I think who is doing probably at around 170% vo2max intensity level...so yes this one definitely qualifies...this is tough...

  • to watch your videos I checked out the star are the burpees exercise ... do you think is one of the most complete exercise there is? ... really intense workouts ... thank you very much for sharing your knowledge ... a greeting Bjorn ...

  • will take time... :D

  • best tabata i ever seen, how long did it take you to get to this point?

i usually try to mix burpees with squats, but this is hardcore

  • @DarkWolfXF dont bother if you dont get it...well...youll never do them as good as him anyway..go back to dorito curls.

  • Great Form. Very inspiring.

  • I do 8 different exercises in a Tabata session. It' better that way for variety. Now i know how to do a "good form burpee"!

  • PROPS I almost cried when I finished lol

  • like SAW 4

  • if you dislike this video, you're a FUCKING HATER!!!

  • he has a very bad form

  • have you tried it yet ? he has a perfect form

  • Great job! People who try this workout or do this regularly will understand just how impressive your video is. Keep up the great work

  • erm .. holy crap?

  • Crazy workout, will try it ...

Btw, if anyone needs a timer, I made a simple app for that at

    tataba [dot] isgreat [dot] org

  • @HighlySkilledWorker thx, i'll definately try it

  • does it work for aerobic condition too?

  • @2ashe yes, even more than with regular cardio... it also burns fat as hell ;)

  • Guys I need someone to beat my record, I did 50 burpies, 50 mountain climbs and 50 squat jumps (150) in 5 minutes and I did 300 in 12 minutes. I am 46 years old and I am sure someone can give me a callenge........

  • @maddog3768 teri maa ki choot. i will give u a challenge bhenchod. lund ke topi.

  • Guys I someone to beat my record, I did 50 burpies, 50 mountain climbs and 50 squat jumps (150) in 5 minutes and I did 300 in 12 minutes. I am 46 years old and I am sure someone can give me a callenge........

  • @DarkWolfXF Tabata burpees will increase your anaerobic endurance and your willpower. You could say it "builds character"..:) Try it..I am sure you will get it after.

  • very similar to crossfit

  • Great work mate!! Keep it up!!!

  • Hey great work man. I know that pain all too well...keep pushing yourself. Have you ever tried to do 100 burpees as fast as you can? That's a hell of challenge too.

  • I am going to try this - wish me luck! Thanks for posting.

  • I still have nightmares from my combat days. Tabata is the ultime w/o. Great form and shape btw

  • Impressive. That is hell.

  • so godly

  • just by watching this, i feel tired already.. i can do only 4-5 rounds of this..

    you're the best!

  • that was sick!!! i'm breathing heavy just watching that!!

  • sick!!!!

  • this is the best burpees i've ever seen.

    this looks crazzzzyyyy

  • Great job! I am going to try it.

  • great stuff... tabata + burpees = one *insane* cardio workout

  • lol...are you serious...? this exercise looks so easy....no way i can do this and get more killer of a workout than at the gym...

  • Wow good job!!

  • just did 2 sets of tabata burpees.. dies at 7th and 8th round hahaha

  • Real good work

  • Damn man.. i do tabatas too and i see what i see and.. your conditioning is good man!!!!!Keep working out!!!!

  • I used to do this the exact same way (intervals and sets)as part of the conditioning program for boxing.. it is hard, but very rewarding.... we then moved on to Russian twists :S They're convenient as you can do many of these exercises just about anywhere. Great job by the way.. I'm procrastinating haha

  • holy god. i woulda fallen on my face halfway through that... I got a ways to go for sure.

  • animal...hugely impressed....respect to holding on for 6's on the last two an digging in on the 6th when you wanted to die....gives me strenght to see a man doing the same sick sh1t I do....

  • dude im so trying this tmoro

  • Huge fan of stringent standards. I love the use of the pipe touch to ensure a full jump each time.

  • Could you say for sure whether this sort of training would make one better at longer-duration steady-state 'cardio' like marathon-running?

  • Wow o__________O

  • Howly cow batman! You are awesome...maybe one day I can be too

  • hey man how fast are you able to do 50 burpees? just curious, I just posted a video of myself doing the tabatta burpees

  • This is top. Only those that have done them know how good this is.

Just done tabata for the first time in a year, started using these (no jump phase). and alternated punch outs on heavy bag. Failed after six rounds (I think). Fucking smoked, nearly puked and recovery took minutes.

You MUST build up slowly to tabata, or you're seriously risking your health. But they can't be beaten, great buzz after it stops....

  • @mountainenergei1 Agreed. I am new t them and love them. I noticed I get sleepy later in the day when I do these, and I never knew how 4 minutes could seem like an eternity:no joke.

  • @mountainenergei1 great buzz, oh yea :)

  • awesome!

  • shit these suck my coach makes us do these 4 minutes straight for part of a 20 minute drill during the football offseason

  • looks brutal...

  • wow best tabata burpees I have ever seen...

  • @5bluefire Thanks! ;)

  • @babbis13

not meaning to be rude, but what makes these different to normal burpees?

  • @illSerenadeYourMum If you do what this guy's doing, you use more energy during the whole WOD. He's got a beam of some sort above himself that he HAS to jump up and touch EACH AND EVERY time and thereby forcing himself to be more active and use up more energy. That's CROSFIT. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger!!

Don't halfass it. Always go all out, or go home. (Pukie the Bucket)

  • @Feddan75

hahaha i like that, now what is this crossfit??? i do p90x and love it, nice and intense.

  • @illSerenadeYourMum They're different from normal burpees because he is doing them in tabata structure. The exercise itself is just a normal burpee, nothing different. Where the difference comes in is that he does 20 seconds of burpess as fast as he can, rests 10 seconds, does another 20 seconds of burpees, rests 10 seconds, etc. A Tabata is 8 cycles of that in 4 minutes.

  • I got tired just watching this

  • good job on the full vertical leap and maintaining a plank position.. a lot of times w/these burpees once you get tired, the tendancy is to want to lose the plank and kinda peel yourself off of the ground.

  • best tabata in my opinion. I've only tried a few but I just tried this last night (gonna put up a video later) and it is fantastic! Havent tried sprints though

  • I hate doing any sort of anerobic conditioning.... It's so painful

  • I know the feeling. After the 4th set I usually start saying the expletives and how much I love the F-ing pain. Feels good when your done though. Do 5 sets of tabata's for a good 20 minute workout and at the end after you vomit there is a euphoric feeling.

  • God, they're brutal as fuck. Same with wall-ball.

  • WHAT ARE YOU USING FOR A TIMER IN THE BACKGROUND, THAT I HEAR GOING OFF? THANX

  • @herbdalyjr Gymboss Interval Timer - I just ordered me one from eBay for 20 bucks. You can also buy it on their website for the same price. gymboss dot com

  • I don't see a difference between this and a normal burpee?

  • Impressive. I would have thrown up a long time ago.

  • are you a marine or something? ;D keep up the good work

im impressed i have to try that when condition is better

  • @sinan187 No, I am just an average guy/dad/personal trainer..:D

  • @babbis13 it really helps to reduce some fat and spend calories like a cardio ?

  • I'm scared....I'm going to start doing this during my cut phases. :'-(

  • There was a little bit of choking at 2:09 but with Mr. Tabata's fitness invention from hell, can one blame him?????????

  • What is the best way for a beginner to approach this routine?

Should they do as many reps per set as possible and only do 4 or 5 sets instead of 8, or should they do fewer reps per set and do the full 8 sets??

  • That is insane. I feel exhausted just from watching it.

  • Can someone please tell me why I am not able to do more than 2 or 3 rounds of this? That too was darn difficult to reach for me. I am not fat, just have a bit of belly fat and am 20 years old and finding it extremely difficult to even go halfway through this. I get very tired and catch my breath. What should I do?

  • kudos to your willpower

  • Exceptional! Your form didn't waver one bit throughout with just a slight reduction in speed. Great conditioning!!!

  • You sir, are a beast..

  • Tabatas are great, but the protocol isn't set in stone: If your sport tends to require specific timings of effort & breaks, (ex: boxing rounds), you're best off recreating those times when conditioning.

  • nice!!

  • Tabata Burpees are BRUTAL. Well done.

  • Good jumps, but he's cheating on the pushups.

  • @vincent7061 A proper burpee incorporates the pushup merely as a shock-absorber for the full-body movement, not as a muscle builder. True pushups can be done within burpees, but the slower, controlled isolation of the arms, shoulders & chest actually serves as a break in the general conditioning effects of the full-body movement.

  • @vincent7061 No he isn't. this is the proper way a burpee is done.

  • Good height on those jumps

  • WOW!! :) That is impressive!

  • beast

  • Nice work!

I have never done a burpee Tabata - on purpose. They're brutal!

  • @Bissen :) I know what you mean.. I avoided tabata sprints for some time.. They hurt even worse then I imagined..:D

  • @Bissen they get hard when you do more then 10 i do it reglaury its hard

  • GYMBOSS is CROSSFIT watch, works GREAT!

  • I"ve been looking for a good example of Tabata. Thank you! Very inspirational. Don't think I'll be able to compete on your level for some time.

  • @matissesoccer chill the fuck out. hiit conditioning is the fastest and simplest way to get in shape without running for miles and miles or doing boring cardio. it doesnt matter if he doesnt do anything. its about being healthy. he could probably kick your ass anyways. so get the stick out your ass and stfu.

  • good job :)

  • @matissesoccer How about getting thu the work-day more easily, efficiently & effectively, still having energy to go out w/your friends, take your family out, play w/your kids, play whatever sports you enjoy, look good, feel good... "What you do with it", indeed.

  • Thanks! sask.

  • Good job BTW

  • Good job BTW

  • Good job BTW

  • These KILL

  • great effort mate. i was telling someone the other day how knackering burpees are, especially for tabata but he didn't believe me so i made him do it when i was doing my workout yesterday. he looked at me after the 5th interval as if he was thinking "kill me now" :P

  • what kind of timer/stopwatch are you using to make it beep at the 20-10 second intervals? I tried to find one at walmart but none had the right functions to do the tabata intervals. The brand name would help ,thanks.

  • @saskcarp Google gymboss

  • Good form on those burpees, you kept a nice high jump going for much longer than I'm able to :)

  • hes definitely pissed off at the 5th set lol

  • Good job.Burpees may look easy on a video.Only when you try them you really find out how killingly exhausting this great shit is,people wouldn't believe.

  • Strong work finishing this off. I'm doing this as well as other HIIT for fat loss (when I do fat loss), I'm in bulking right now, lol

  • good on ya champ :)

  • omg he's fuuucked!! lol yay going to try this as my new excercise :D

  • At the 4th interval, the realization hits you that you're only halfway done. At the end of the 7th, you're looking for a good place to puke...

  • damn i hate tabata. gotta do it though.

  • Nice! Burpees suck in the best possible way.

  • Tabata protocol is tough, no matter how fit you are you are still giving your max

  • What about the knees here? I heard it's deadly to make squats and squat jumps with kneecaps over the toes?

  • holy smoke amn! how did u survive that?

  • wow, how do you work your way up to doing this? This is much harder than it looks.

  • @nagolyerbua you don't work your way up. The point is to go the hardest you can go. Everyone's different, so anyone can do it :D

  • Word, definitely harder than it looks... I'd like to see the 45 minute cardio people try this... They'd be nowhere near able to complete it I'm sure...

  • @nagolyerbua You work your way up by going faster. You always try to go as fast as you can , which will become faster as you become more conditioned. Also, your technique will improve; Your jumps'll get higher, your pushups'll get deeper, your feet'll shoot out farther & your knees'll tuck in tighter. You can also do Tabata -type- work without using the tabata timing: If you get so good that this is no longer a challenge, shorten breaks & / or lengthen work times.

  • You got ROCKED near the end there..in a good way. This workout looks awesome. This one will be in my tabata regiment come May.

  • Amazing!

  • Wow, I'm not as fit as that guy though!

  • Thanks for all the kind comments! Check out my active channel: bjorngranum

  • Very intense! Great job :-)

  • much respect....

  • Where did you get a timer that beeps at 20 and 10s intervals?

  • Google "gymboss"

  • Thanks mate

  • Well done!

  • Very impressive!

  • Put a pull up on your jump and you will never need to do anything else. Much respect!

  • mate, absolutely class workout!! we all know how evil those burpees are, and i've got to agree with markoulas trelos that you're jumping is top notch!!

great job! keep up the good work!!

  • wow first of all you have good explosiveness..nice.. secondly i think this way will make your metabolism go on turbo boost!!!! i need to try it...should a warm up be performed..??

  • Comment removed

  • @MarkoulasTrelos: The original Tabata Protocol requires the following: * 5 minutes of warm-up * 8 intervals of 20 seconds all-out intensity exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest * 2 minutes cool-down

  • thank you my friend! :)

  • Just a tip, when in your rests. breath in big through your mouth and out hard through your nose.

May feel a bit funny but the most efficient way of getting O2 into your body

  • other way around

  • no it isnt

  • this is incredible... I'm trying this tomorrow... your vertical is amazing!

  • nice work
