  • Beautiful. Showing the beauty of Detroit, which there is plenty of.

  • Detroit looks beautiful...my cousin is petrified of detroit hell i tried to convince her to fly out of detroit metro airport and she wont...even though its nowhere near detroit.

  • @Visitor189 Let her stay where she is.

  • @Visitor189 Detroit is a major tech hub now, it is well known by the people who count. Detroit isn't dead by far, it's changing, rapidly.

  • TORONTO REPRESENT!!!!!!

  • THAT'S IT! I'm comin back home, I don't know where I'll stay but I'm coming back home, Lansing is nice and peaceful, But I'd rather help fight for Peace in my beloved city...and for any who don't know the goodness that lies between the suburbs and downtown, well...there's 700,000+ residents that still have not fled, yes there's problems, boardups here and there, but not everywhere, media has boring news without raising your eyebrows.

  • People just don't seem to understand what a thriving metropolis Detroit used to be. It was the "Paris of the West". You can still see the beauty and genius that built and ran the city.

It's only been the last 50 years or so that the city has taken a downturn. All the infrastructure is still there, it just needs the people and the proper politics.

  • DETROIT is bad, exept for comerica park. GO TIGERS!!!!!!

  • thank you for vid

i have an admission at Wayne state uni

everybody says to me dont go its dengerouse !!

i think i will go there

  • WOW,...exactly as I wouldve videoed it! I love my town, (yes and I still live here too) in the College Park area, we have large neighborhoods the media doesnt want anybody to even know exists, all because it's predominantly black. Tsk. Anywho ...i love hangin out downtown, even if I arrived alone I feel like I'm among friends. Not every major city has that "come alone and enjoy yourself anyway" feel. Don't worry Detroit, may be slowly but you're sure to shine again.

  • Who is the People in the street Oo

  • what about the rest of the city

  • love it there.....great place to visit...specially the AMBASSADOR BRIDGE is near and canada is right across......love ur video....

  • Thaks for all the comments, hard to believe that I made the video three years ago already!

  • The music sounds really familiar. Is it from National Treasure? It fits the video really well. Great choice! :)

    Go Detroit!!

  • @IHeartTheClique1223 pirates of the carribean

  • @IHeartTheClique1223 Its from Pirates of the Caribbean lol

  • @IHeartTheClique1223 Its from Pirates of the Caribbean :)

    3. New Red Wings Arena Behind the Fox

    4. Cheesecake Factory & ESPN Zone

    5. 40 story Quicken Loans Tower

    6. New Wall Mart on old Tiger Stadium site

    7.Riverfront with shops,resturants,condos and greenery

    8.Cadillac Centre

Last but not least, more White Leaders and Residents to create a cleaner safer city. BTW Im Black so please don't send me any messages about "Stereotype"

  • Great video. Nice way to rep my hometown.

  • this truely is the new Detroit, 20 more years of this beauty fabrication will be a prayer answered. . . God bless the U.S.A.

  • detroit is like my 2nd home cuz my boat is docked down there off jefferson ave. i live a 35 min away from n i go down there every weekend D-TOWN 4 LYFFE REPPIN THAT DETROIT BLUE ALL DAY

  • it is a beautiful city need to take out the trash though

  • I used to love walking downtown detroit i havent been there lately but i would like to go to the riverfront again it was just beautiful

  • Detroit is beautiful and your video proves it. Thanks for the positive images.

  • empty........

  • I live 60 miles away from Detroit and I love going to that city. These pictures are recent and Downtown Detroit is really a beautiful place.

The national news media likes to make Detroit its whipping boy. They usually only report the worst things. Every city has bad things including Detroit. But it has many nice things about it too.

Art Meuseums, The Detroit Science Center, Historical Mueseum. Restored 1920s hotels. New Casinos ect.

Stop in a 1 day and you'll see how nice it is.

  • Great job on the vid. Fuck all the pussies and haters leaving derogatory messages on here. I love Detroit and am very proud to be from DETROIT ROCK CITY !!! ........even with it's flaws, I love it !!!

  • I live in metro Detroit and I can tell you that no game show will ever give away a free trip to Detroit to any contestant anytime soon. If all the vacant land in the city of Detroit was put together, you would create an area larger than the city of Boston.

  • Detroit is a vary nice place and I love the downtown

  • Ok, Im a proud Detroiter. Ok yes downtown is not as thriving in the night. But on weekend nights get ready for downtown that has an atmosphere like a college town. Its also fact that detroit has the largest live music venue, ranging from Jazz clubs, rock clubs, etc. I live in the bad areas, like others say its not that scary. We actually are like small time people with a vibrant city vibe. Meaning we really are for the most part friendly, we carry a harsh shell, but If youre cool so are we!!

  • I love this city with a passion

  • Detroit, having been there before, can tell you is a ghosttown. Downtown is a lonely place looks like after a post-armageddon city.

  • Detroit, having lived there my entire life, can tell you is packed with people. If you wanna see some people downtown, come back when we have the fireworks next summer

  • i'm from chicago and i visited detroit a few months ago and i must say, i have never seen so many abandoned skyscrapers in my life. downtown detroit does seem to be making a slow comeback though. one thing that surprised me though was the pride the locals had in detroit. they must not get a whole lot of out-of-towners in detroit because when i mentioned that i was from chicago their eyes lit up, they shook my hand and welcomed me to detroit. they treated me like a king lol. its an ok place

  • shutup stupid lol they probably just being friendly with u detroit i had get like 15 million or a year of visitors thats good

  • i'm from london and have spent lots of time in detriot over the past 12 yrs and even though it is run down and crime is high they seem to be making changes all be it very slowly. you gotta love detroit man.

  • no problem finding parking in downtown detroit, the place is empty

  • that is so true man, you never run into parking problems during big events.

  • Detroit looks better than i thought. wow. Same goes to Buffalo. Go bills and lions!

  • @AdamDrizzy yeah downtown detroit is actually very safe and nice.

  • When I watched the video i noticed that it looked empty everywhere, no people to be seen, looked kinda sad to be honest.

Offtopic, Me and my dad are thinking of going to the US this summer (we live in sweden), Ive already been to NYC and we want to go elsewhere this time, does anyone have any ideas of where to go? Feel free to write to me if you've got any ideas:)

  • you don't want to live in detroit. it's the murder capital of the world. the suburbs of detroit are very nice, however and taking a trip from the suburbs to downtown detroit is eventful, because downtown as you can see in this video is pretty neat. However, our economy in michigan, especially Detroit has hurt bad because of the auto industry here.

  • man murder capital of the world that was like in the 80s dude

  • Nothing worthwhile? your an idiot, Detroit has a unique culture and its own DOMINATE sport history. In Chicago you cant even get a damn chili dog.

  • dude its people in detroit maybe u and yur dad should go to detroit and see yourself its making a come back i plan on moving back there soon

  • Most people have a love/hate relationship with detroit. They love the suburbs or they love the downtown, but they seem to loathe everything in between. Real detroiters understand the city's problems, but unconditionally love it anyways. We take pride in our everyday cultural struggles and thrive off the venomous comments that are directed towards our great city. If you're from the city then you know what I mean. How many times have you declared "I'm from Detroit bitch!"?

  • man i love detroit and plan on moving back plz keep in touch and tell me about how they doing in reconstruction and all that

  • brah me to my moma dumb ass gone make us move to atlanta its lame ova here

  • I live in Georgia and would take my home, Detroit, any day! You don't know what your talking about.

  • man shut the fuck up i know what im talkin bout its lame n GA i hate it im from detroiit n i got to ask u something...what is U talkin bout???????????

  • @tazzy775705 you should see Detroit its chance alot new buses roades are being replaced and they even re did belle isle island and the giant slid it has lights on the side now and the strip be off the chain

  • Comment removed

  • i love this city!

  • It looks really nice! Look forward to visiting.

  • It is certainly not nice. It 's not so bad either. Downtown is ok around the Ren Cen, greektown ect. These photos are decieving.

  • Sure, photos often are deceiving, but it does 'look' nice. The trouble is that the worst aspects of Detroit are given much more media attention. I've seen plenty of cities in Africa, so I don't suppose it will be too shocking. What is the area around Lafayette/Elmwood Park like?

  • i love the city but i hate it!!!!LOL

the architecture is WONDERFUL but thats bout it!!

  • just like the city has to rebuild the reputation of the city also has to be rebuilt it will come ... we just have to keep growing.

  • AMEN!!!

  • downtown detroit has so much to offer...it just has this certain vibe to it that i dont find in chicago or even new york...it may not have their population, but i think it has a great certain cultural vibe of the old detroit from 1920...its a shame downtowns always so EMPTY

  • thank you, thank you, thank you. FINALLY!!! Youtubers can finally see Detroit as I know it!!

  • I agree....its about time someone posted something about our city that shows the good things and not the bad. Like any major city we have both and like any resident of a town or city we are very proud of OUR city.

    Thank you

  • finally sumthin good about detroit on youtube

  • How safe is downtown Detroit?

  • Downtown is safe. Many people out especially on weekend nights. As you move away from downtown, depending on which direction, it gets really rough. Those neighborhoods are not really as dangerous as they are ugly.

  • It's safe. Baghdad is safe too. Trust me.

  • RIGHT!!!!

  • have you ever been to downtown detroit? have you been to michigan? do you think everyone from michigan is from detroit? do you think downtown detroit is dangerous eventhough you have never been there to see its uniquely old well kept architecture that is blended well with the new architecture. and just believe it is only like portions of the surrounding neighborhoods? yes detroit is a dangerous city, but don't criticize it if you haven't been there to know what the good and bad is.

  • i wish i never moved i love my city fuck tampa ill be back in the beginning of next good old detroit

  • why did they use some nfl music lol!

  • i v seen some of this GM and the tigers feld and some stuff a round it like the Fox what ever that is cool stuff

  • that water is really blue on the detroit river

  • Kill the bankers.

  • The city looks great, never been there before, but this slideshow peeked my interest.

  • Nice photos, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of people in Downtown Detroit; it would be more attractive if you had shots of people sitting at the outdoor cafe tables, for example.

  • It the photos were taken during Woodward Cruise, or at certain times, certain events millions of people would jam the streets.

  • detroits downtown dont look bad at all but the rest of the city could use a few urban repairs and upgrades dont u think?

  • I loved the video and it felt wonderful to look at a revitalized downtown Detroit. I lived in Detroit from 1944-1962 and went to Mumford High School. There isn't a day that goes by when I don't think about my city.

  • I'm from Detroit & from the city's Cooley High School.

  • ... I learned to swim at Cooley.

  • What year did you graduate from Cooley?

  • that was my high school too

  • I LOOOOOVEEEEEE!!!!! DETROIT!!!!!!!! If you don't like you should go back where you came from. People in Detroit are trying to do the best they can with what they have, in my book that not lazy that just survival

  • I like Detroit because I've lived here for 13 years, not because it's a great city. There are impressive places here, especially downtown, but step a mile away from Woodward, and you're in the ghetto. The ghetto lasts for miles and miles until eventually you get out of the city. If people can not take care of their property, blow their money on the wrong things, they are NOT trying the best they can. They just don't care, you tell me why. and it's is not going to change until they start caring.

  • i dont care what anyone says detroit has some truly beautiful places

  • Great shots of Downtown. I go to a Tigers game during the summer very often.

  • please tell me the music name and the artist name

  • it's the theme to pirates of the carribean if that helps at all, lol

  • lol not as bad as you think?? You're right though. I'm from chicago and I always thought Detroit was a piece of crap but I went there last summer it was great. Fun, clean downtown and they have amazing fireworks on the river.

  • Thanks for the Great Video

Way to spread the good word about detroit!!

    View some of my Video's

  • What's with the "not as bad as you think" ending. Detroit is great, learn to celebrate it!

  • ive lived here since '95, and I have to say its a world of a difference. The rest of the city is still shitty though, but thats up to the residents to get off their lazy asses, mow the lawn, fix the houses, and not live like pigs.

  • I LOOOOOVEEEEEE!!!!! DETROIT!!!!!!!! If you don't like you should go back where you came from. People in Detroit are trying to do the best they can with what they have, in my book that not lazy that just survival.

  • The city has a seemingly spotless downtown. Very nice.

  • cool. Good song.

  • Very proud. Bravo!

  • lmao at the before and after! its not even near the same area!!

  • thank u for not showing the slums.

why is everyone proud of that shit...i mean what ever show people detroit i try 2 stay away from the dumb shit. when they come into my neighborhood. my block is very nice and everyone takes pride in our block/neighborhood/city.

u dont have 2 live shitty 2 be in the city

  • This is just the nice part of Detroit. Kinda like the inner harbor of baltimore.

  • Detroit is still the 'hood, your'e not fooling any one!

  • Have you been d/town at night...it's beautiful, lit up, safe, and a lot of things are going on...Fox Theater, Chelli's Chili, Campus Martius, Riverwalk, RenCen, Greektown, and I don't even live there anymore! Plus, there's always the Red Wings, the Tigers, the Pistons and the poor ol' picked on Lions.

  • What happened to the statues on the Wayne County Bldg. ? Did they just remove them for cleaning ?

  • yes.

  • Downtown Detroit | $1.3 Billion in new or rehabbed construction. That's just last year. This year is almost double that. And it's working.

  • This shows the better part of the city mainly downtown. It doesn't show the neighborhoods falling apart. The casinos can only help so much.

  • Why do people from Chicago always have to put their two cents in on Detroit? This video is about Detroit, yet for some reason "you'se guys" feel compelled to remind everyone "how wonderful you are". This comment isn't directed at you in particular, it is just a general observation of Chicagoans. Trust me, if Detroit becomes an amazing city, it is not going to take away from Chicago so I wish "you'se guys" would just cut the crap. Thanks!

  • All of Michigan should be proud of the new direction Detroit has taken. One criticism--the end of the video says, "...it's not as bad as you think". That statement is a REALLY negative ending to a great presentation. How about, "it's even better than you think"?

  • Merry christmas Detroiters and happy new year both to you and to the city of Detroit itself.

  • hi its really great that detroit is looking up i would love to visit from ireland really would..1 question..is there ever a worry that a new bubbling city could be torn down once again by criminals?? i hope not but it comes to mind ..can these people be pushed right out of the way???

  • Wow, beautiful city. I don't get why there aren't that many people in the shots??? It is beautiful and I think Detroit is on it's way back.

  • Wrong music for this film. But now people can see Detroit is not dangerous.

  • I agree, good pics, but a God awful song choice.

  • What's wrong with "Pirates" theme????? Great music for a great (sometimes) city, plus we have a few pirates in the city right now......and it aint Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom (darn!)

  • youngmassacre is right. You must have a city with thriving neighborhoods and thriving CBD's. I love the development that's happening downtown, but I would like to see that spread into the neighborhoods as well.

  • "Visit Downtown Detroit... it's not as bad as you think".... That's hilarious!!! :p did the local tourism bureau come up with that slogan? Seems to me they might've come up with something a bit more....oh, I don't know.... complimentary. But the area really does look nice. I always imagined a burned out war zone with artillery & machine gun nests.

  • This video is amazing. I have not been back to Detroit since 2004 and I am amazed that Detroit is improving Downtown Detroit. The next time I visit Detroit, I am going to visit the areas seen in this video.

  • Rustbelt? Is right. Detroit used to be a rustbelt as soon as they put in the factories right by downtown. But they tore those down and are putting up million dollar condos I hear.

  • The Casino's additions are amazing. I feel like im in las vegas when I visit them. Detroit's turned around and is heading in the right direction.

  • being from here its getting nicer but i agree with prep its still kinda boring i dont go downtown much since im not a big club person but the casinos will add some much needed flare down town.

  • downtown is getting nicer and all.....bt its still kinda boring unless there is a festival or sporting event, or etc. Downtown needs more shops and restaurants.

  • Sometimes Downtown is Packed with thousands and sometimes it's deserted.Either way it's a very nive place to go adn more people are coming to that conclusion

  • look at all the people on the riverwalk and downtown the cities really coming back nicley

  • Good video

The reason why ppl don't visit is because of it's Rep. It's only the neighborhoods that are bad, the city itself, is great.

  • neighboorhoods is what really makes the city, not downtown
