I know Page's (and the rest of the band as well) had influences from all types of music. You can hear traces of different styles in one song. I wouldn't say country western in this song but I can hear why you'd say that. Maybe their is a trace of it since they were so diverse. But yeah. I'd say mainly blues and funk.

I totally agree & it mostly started downhill from the early 80's..the 70's were powerful,because it was mostly a product of spillover from all the great 60's music..just think about it, zep,creedence,elton,doobies,st­eely dan,csn&y,

yeah its not all their fault, its the suits who have made music sterile, they are not willing to take a chance on many acts, but its also the times -we were lucky, i do like a few 90's acts, the verve are cool, but like you said, those acts will never be topped, look at all the great tunes say a band like CCR did, in 1971 they had 5 top 10 hits at once.

amazing, we all took it a bit for granted because we didn't know any better, & because of the sheer quantity/ quality of the bands.

on the contrary I am 20 years old and I have a very deep appreciation for the music of the 60's and 70's it's my favorite generation of music, he forgot about zappa he started in the early 60's around the end of 65 and 66 and freak out! changed the scene at least for me nowadays and I have a feeling it was pretty groundbreaking back then as well.

i happen to be 14 also. and most of my friends are into the whole 60s-70s era. but, i have a real wide variety of music. im like, have metalhead, half hippie. and every now and again ill listen to a modern band, like the white stripes. so, just goes to show, music is good no matter what time period. as long as its done well. the 60s and 70s just happened to be one of the best eras where people were trying new things =D
