  • Well... Obviously VERY talented... But the blues is not for everyone. And I'd say you fit into the not for everyone category. Not to flame but... that's just not "bluesy" to me.

  • i can feel the soul nice man!

  • awsome 5*****

  • man you are really good

i love your complicated kind of playing

  • dude this is great but im sure a professional bass player would say to leave space in your playing.

  • this dude pwns!

  • This gives me the blues...not in a good way

  • What the fuck..................!

  • hey geil du wohnst in deutschland^^

  • guitarist.

  • Jazzy blues. Who would listen to this?

  • sounds kind of bad to me.

  • with you on that one dude :)

  • that is jazz not blues

  • your fuckn stupid lol

  • Wow, this guy is a shredder straight up. All technique, a billion notes, and 100% no soul or concept of phrasing. Sounds like absolute shit, seriously.

  • What bass is that?

  • Looks to be a Warwick of some description, not exactly sure of the model.

  • It's a Warwick Thumb

  • warwick thumb bass six string i think?

  • that didnt realy sound like a blues solo at all

  • alter kannse deutsch???

das is übelst gaay alter. Nur weil ihr Asiaten alle so schnell spielen können, das klingt echt dämlich , abel die flülingslollen sind leckel!

  • damn! that is one nice bass...

  • well it b damned asians can do somethng good that isnt computer games

  • 100% this is a warvick bass. damn those basses are so baddass for heavier stuff

  • sorry but if u dont even recognice a girl u are some blind M F

  • He's a guy.His MySpace page shows his wife and child.

  • seriously, its not easy to tell. its wierd. as a guy, he doesnt look all that feminine but as a girl she doesnt seem all that manly. i really cannot tell for the life of me. if not for the hand size id say guy

  • it's all in the face as he really gets into it, he's a guy

  • very nice man, its great to hear the good technique and groove in your sound. I hope you are very successful.

  • mucho solo!!!! poco BLUES...

  • Great 6 string bass sound man!! Thx

  • good...man...

  • I don't even think he used his lowest string..

  • Why do all lead bassists play sections at the highest fret and string? I always think you should hold something back, because if you do this, you can't go any higher, can't do any octave work, etc...

  • Its built to blend in and to be played low. If you're playing lead, you should stand out. That's what lead is.

  • All good and well, except it doesn't answer my question at all. I can play lead anywhere on my bass or guitar, but if I start off at the highest fret, there's nowhere to go but down.

  • To answer your question, lead bassists play sections at the highest fret and string because it can be heard better.

  • i doubt your fucking around on the bass could be defined as playing. you suck epic cock

  • I'm a professional bass player living in NYC, asshole. Don't talk about shit you know nothing about.

  • sorry i didn't know it.

    that is great!

so you're a pro. That gives me a new hope for the future, since it looks like that even the suckiest bass players can become 'professional musicians '' nowadays

  • you make a good point, a normal bass solo would sound more flavorful if started in the middle/bottom, then gained range and variety. In my opinion, since he playing a 6 string he is trying to depict this as a lead part, not the standard bass solo. Plus there is a low part in the background.

  • Thank you for your opinion, plus, I didn't hear the low bass in the background.

    I appreciate your input.

  • i dissagree with you guys, i can see him putting alot of heart into his soloing there!

  • I would have been more impressed by 3 notes that groove than a thousand that say nothing

  • I agree no emotional notes just scales and the rhythm track is to loud , Its like al dimiola he can play but no one will buy his solo records

  • :\ I'm willing to bet there's a ton of emotion in there.

Would you spend years practicing to this bassist's level, then compose a peice of music like this with no emotion? I know i couldn't.

There's a buttload of emotion in technicality.

  • There is ZERO emotion in technique man!! Have you seen the videos of a robot playing Coltranes solo on giant steps?? The machine has unbeatable technique but no soul at all, obviously. Seriously though, somebody needs to give this guy a valium so he'll chill out.

  • Really good!

    you sure have skills, 5/5

  • now this is not any type of dis i play both guitar and bass and xiahoe is really good but to solo like that why dont you just play guitar? i dont know extended basses are cool but why dont you just play guitar. not a dis in any way just a question i had.

  • yeah play them blues!

  • i dont like it :S

and the backing track is awful :S

sorry... u still have a good technique

  • try it on guitar my friend. its made for solos!

    to bass is to groove!

  • he played a lot of notes.. but did he say anything with them?

  • 'but he was goin' nowhere fast, speed ain't nothin' without class. he couldn't play tasty.' - the good rats

  • the word "badass" is one of them

  • i feel he said a lot . this man soul is unreal i realize speed isnt everything but i think this mans found a pretty solid balance between being incredibly fast and totally soulful. and to bass is much more than to just groove if your a master of your trade and not a jack of all

  • :O:O

  • U guys r stupid he did great y dont u put up videos of u doing this good

  • I think thats still a little harsh yet, in fact i think his style pays more homage to the frenzied rythmically complicated jazz that is so unappreciated. Changes are important but stylistically its the rythm that counts in his compositions.

  • You gotta have something to say before you can play the blues.

This is wankery all over the blues scale. Does nobody appreciate changes anymore?

  • I don't know if I'd put it quite so harshly but this does seem to have more speed than actual phrasing or concern for the changes in the music. Somehow I think his approach to soloing over a blues would work better with an overdriven guitar :p

  • Killer right hand butt.

The playing is really annoying having nothing in common with the backing track and VERY feeling, if ANY, for the soul of the blues.

Its more like what a lonely guys does alone .....

when he doesn't have a girl

  • Some of the most unmusical playing ever. If you were to sing a scat solo, would you sing all those notes and rhythms? It would sound rediculous. Don't hate on me, it's the truth.

  • Comment removed

  • People watch youtube as musicians to be inspired. All I'm saying is I don't want any 14 year old kid aspiring to play like this, and then another and another...This IS the kind of playing you do alone for fun, posting a video like this is tooting your own horn, like 100 times.

  • That's nuts dude; sweeps on bass! It's weird cause it sound so bluesy, but it's so fast with some old-school country elements.

This guy has a more unique playing style than a lot of other guys on youtube.

  • The sounds are too muddled together. If you have a deep and well defined bass line separate from the rest of the mix, and if you have high and bright chords also clearly separate from the mix, and if your melody is of a different timbre and sound than the rest of the mix, you've got something good.

  • interesting interpretation of the blues! Well done!

  • Maaaaaaan .. . YOU'RE AWESOME!

    Excellent!

  • I sure like it =), but I think it goes a lil' bit too much busy.

  • u kick ass

  • he looks pained :( now that's how you know he feels the blues

  • awesome!!!! bro ur insane... keep it up...

  • Awesome work! Keep it up!!

  • excellent! i am also using warwick thumb six string!

  • lucky bitch, how much did it set you back

  • enjoyed it alot (:

  • excellent...5/5

  • warwick thumb six string is it?

  • Who the hell said Chinese people had no soul?

  • i have to say that was skillful

but it didnt sound good along with the background tune

    hes skillful

    but sounded abit shit

    here comes hatemail

  • damn :D better than myung

  • lol it sucks to say but this kid is better than myung. maybe not with 4 finger technique, but as for overall groove and consistancy with no mistakes, this guy eclipses most bass players. bravo sir. 5/5 stars

  • Great job! Also the costume indicates that this guy will allways remember where he comes from.. Awesome..

  • Damn! You can play! But maybe you could ease a bit on the number of notes you use. Sometimes it's not about how many you can fit in there, but the ones you choose.

  • Stunning. I think the sound and video are off a bit. But still, great video.

  • thought it was john myung for a sec.

thought that was a schecter for a sec.

  • yo bro me too! hahahaha!

  • wow... just wow

  • sick warwick

  • You Rock!

  • You Rock!

  • im not a huge fan of jazz. Nonetheless, nice job

  • i think this is blues

  • Wow you have some technique! great playing, precise and playfull. Warwick rulez!

  • dude chill out you get to excited.

  • hey i was just curious what kind of bass that was, and by the way snds great =]

  • i think its a 6 warwick thumb. yes its very nice.

  • take it easy slown down

big technic but put a beat!

  • You obviously can play, but this reminds me of the cliche sex-scene between the teenaged geeky guy with an experienced "girl" as his first time. He wants to just jump right in and go as fast as he can. She says "slow down baby: take your time, do it right."

Slow down man! Take your time! This should be called the ADHD Blues.

  • Wow, You Really Thought About That Didn't You.

Lol, Cool Way Of Saying It Though :D

  • too low... not a very great sound... it would be better if it was brighter....

  • eh thats ur preferances. there no too low or 2 high if there was a too high 7+ basses wouldnt exist, if there was a too low there would not be a .195 guage string for a low C out there

  • try putting a metronome to it

  • bravo...complimenti...!!!!

  • I really like how it sounds!

  • Good Job meh

  • Fucking hell, bravo sir

  • pretty coooooool man

  • well i guess we learned how to play the exact same lick for 4 minutes straight and hide the monotony with speed. listen closely. no soul.

  • shut up

  • I'd agree with that except for this being lame.

It's got a nice thing about it...I dunno, something of a jazz quality...but I think it is a little fast. But I dunno about lame :)

  • chino maldito

    cero onda

  • sweet solo but it would fit better over jazz or straight blues whereas the backing chords sound more funky. Dominant 7ths are best as the chords for both blues and funk but it's all about how you play them.

  • I don't think you even know what you are talking about

  • Maybe my comment seemed a bit jumbled. What i meant to say is that the "rythm section" here has a very funk-blues sound to it and that, while the solo is good, it would fit better (in my opinion) over a straight blues.

  • wow...

  • there's about as much soul in this as there is in a rich white man's reading glasses. the sound is weak and with no feeling

  • you cant just blend into the chord progressions; you have to speak with it

  • Mate, relax,

learn blues language first if you want to speak 'Blues'.

obviously you are playing what you don't know.

and it doesn't matter whether you are playing on 6 strings or 268 strings, what matters is if you are really playing 'music'. no offense mate.

  • Looks like John Myung ^^

  • Not really at all, he's Chinese. Myung is Korean born and raised in the USA.

  • Blues mixed with crack.

  • What the hell bass is that?

  • warwick thumb i believe

  • Looks to me like a Warwick 6 String.

  • Very nice.

  • nice!
