  • im confident someone will make it work in an r/c

  • You will need to install a second servo for the other side rather than running it on the same servo. This way you will be able to yaw the plane using the thrust nozzles in opposite directions.

  • make the video longer, show us more angles of it

looks sweet, but will it work?

how heavy will the aircraft be and what fan will feed this

  • but wil it blend?

  • @7249xxl

    oh shut up!

  • I like to see it flying...

  • It looks retarded.

  • @ilikemonkeysss So do you!!

  • @HexterTheJexter Fail.

  • Bear in mind once you get enough thrust to leave the ground in a hover, your going to have major stability issues and zero attitude control. The real harrier bypasses this by having one vent on each wing tip, one int he nose and one in the tail. This is why nobody in the RC world has made a true to scale harrier. Having said that i love the design you made, would interesting to make it out of sheet metal and throw a turbine into it.

  • Totally bad ass!!

  • looks like a poodle

  • @tomascontrerasjr

    I agree! lol!

  • @tomascontrerasjr Why don't you lot, with your daft comments post a video of "your" EDF Harrier VTOL project and we can all compare! This guy is a "bloody genius" and should be congratulated not ridiculed

  • Unless that thing was made of metal and you use a gas turbine its not going to work. Its just too heavy.

  • @bigtruckseriesreview

135 grams isnt too bad . Might be able to get another 20 grams if i paid more attention to the "lay up"

  • @bigfilsing

But I know you can't use an EDF with this. The mass wouldn't be able to lift itself, nevermind the body of the Harrier.

This video is a year old...what is your progress?

  • @bigtruckseriesreview

the mass can lift itself ...already proven mate. check out the threads on the subject

buit as we all know ...power is nothing without control

    cheers

  • @bigfilsing

    What EDF are you using?

  • @bigtruckseriesreview

69 wemotec with a hoffman magnetics brusless outrunner

on 4s lipo about 1450 grams of static thrust

  • @bigfilsing i have that setup on an f16 gives over 4lbs of thrust

  • @cod4madass id be interested in which ESC and type Hoffman you are using ??

  • @bigfilsing will have a look when i get home after xmas and message you.

  • @bigfilsing

I don't think an EDF has the force to do this. the thrust from an EDF only works if it can maintain its vortex. This thing will divide the air up and you'd lose too much pressure.

  • hey... awesome design but i would recomend putting micro servos in it as there are some pretty cheap micros that put out ALOT of torque

  • @MrTheshadow577

Yeah sure will need some work. The vid just shows the concept that rotatiing ducts can be used using simple rotational joints ( bottle caps) and a single servo. I would probably end up with a micor servo on each side for a more direct and controllable direction of thrust. i was just building with what i had on my desk.

Still not forgotten but just dont have the time at the moment

    Cheers

  • surely that has to weigh a lot. anyone know?

  • cool very cool

  • i wonder if thats light enough though

  • I like it! but what are you going to do about theoutboard pressure nozzles also in the nose and tail? A rc model is going to need alot of help from gyros to control thrust with just the vains

  • it looks good cant wait to see the finished product

  • Thanks. I'd like to see it finished too. Well at least to the next stage to prove the concept works or not. VTOL EDF has been on many peoples minds for a long time and i have no illusions i'll get it to work soon either but it's gotta be worth a try.

    CHeers

  • @bigfilsing I'll bet where people fail is assuming that when its been balanced it'll hover straight. You should regulate flow from each duct with 2 gyro's on 2 axes

  • Common man...........!!!?? I have seen your beautifull work while ago, and i always look to see how much you are going along with your projict!!?

Unless you have other video's that i dont know about? You are nearly finished. anyway i wish you the best of luck.

  • WIsh i had videos of the finished product :-) No time at the moment. I've got the ducting showen in the video next to my design desk just to remind me how useless i am at finishing things. I'll get to it one day

    Cheers

  • hallo ... how do you shape this modul and what king of engine/impeller you will install? Is the thrust/weight enough for a take of? ... I have to overload my impeller to have the thrust for a takeoff-power ... but i am still far away from a controlled hovering ;-) ... Nice to see a simillar conclusion ... geating form germany, Martin

  • That's great!

Gutsy build of a "Pegasis" setup!

  • Thanks . Just wish i had more time to move on with this ..it'll happen onme day :-)

  • Are you going to use a ducted fan or a centrifugal blower?

You should try a blower rather than a fan, it will be more efficient and give you greater exhaust velocity and volume.

I've tried it with small brushed motors and it works very well.

Just don't try a glow plug engine bigger than .049!

    It's messy!

  • The very first one with VTOL scale system

    ansiuos to see it

    Way to go man!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice. Can't wait for an update with a motor installed

  • interesting, looks weird haha
