  • I've shot both and to me I just like the feel of the Glock trigger better. To take nothing away from the M&P it is an outstanding gun It just doesn't feel right in my hands and pivot point of the trigger just seems to me a failure waiting to happen. Call me old fashioned but I prefer my trigger to be one solid piece.

  • Can't go wrong either way, but the M&P works better for me...feels much better in my hands.

  • I think I just got seasick watching this.

  • I like glocks i have a G29 10MM Its the best and show me how to break down the S&W i bet its not as simple as the glock

  • @skibolo1234 "the best" seems like a very inexperienced claim to me. Even if the M&P takes two more seconds to field strip, what makes that the end all measure of a combat handgun? Sure, glocks are nice but many others are nice as well. We really strive for intelligent and well reasoned discussion on the channel so if you'd consider that next time before posting, it would be appreciated.

  • @skibolo1234 10 mm? they make taht?

  • I like the Glock better. but that is just me.

  • gllock 34/35's come standard with extended mag catch and slide stop, so that "problem" is only a problem with a those two models. great video other than that tho!

  • Blocky Glock? Or Smith & Wesson SMOOOOTH!? S & W Allll day, had a couple glocks, and a now I own and LOVE my 2 S&W's 40 cal & 45c!!

  • @caliber454 Oh yea, I Totally sold my 40 & 357sig Glocks, they are outta here!

  • If keeping stock, the M&P wins. But what comp shooter does that?

They are distant cousins. Not better, just different.

  • @theblackkknight1 Well stated...

  • @theblackkknight1

If keeping stock, glock 34! :-)

  • @theblackkknight1 The comp shooters who shoot IDPA keep their guns stock per the rules. IPSC shooters shoot shoot production class also keep their guns stock per the rules.

  • buy American

  • @FloridaRaider You mean like your TV?

  • Comment removed

  • @Patriot36 I didn't create the problem. only offering to help fix it by buying American made products when possible. We need to restore the middle class.

  • @FloridaRaider I don't disagree with what you've just stated. I'm a patriot and try to purchase American made products where possible. I'm just not sure that buying S&W over Glock is the 'turn around' that America needs. The phrase "help fix" is relative and even if a thousand S&Ws sell it's like a fart in a windstorm. What we really need is political leaders like you and I, instead of corrupt career maniacs. Then we need strict trade restriction policies especially with China.

  • One Glock 34 cost about $ 650 .... It's so cheap ! ! i really love this Pistol ..

  • @eusousoeu Gen 4's for $575-$595 on GB

  • @tommygunm1a1 Nice ... I'm from Brazil , here one Glock cost 5.000 R$ ( $2.500 )

  • @eusousoeu Wow! That's terribly expensive. I wish that you were able to enjoy them for less money.

  • in my opinion the only thing the m&p has over the glock is the more comfortable grip. and remember im saying this is my opinion.

  • M& P is a bad ass gun.. The design is just better than the glock

  • Was there a part 2 done?

  • @Castleknight Yep, same title with "Part 2" at the end.

  • I like the video but maybe a tripod next time? How about it?

  • @gtrmusic69 Already used one "next time" This time was the exception.

  • sucks because you cant even buy an M&P pro 9mm in new jersey. >:(

  • I just picked up a M&P 9L two weeks ago, and ran into a G34 for a price I just could not say no too. The Glock is in jail(layaway) for another two weeks. I will then have a difficult time deciding which to keep. Thanks for the review.

  • @SamInBuda If possible, try to keep both! They're both excellent guns and fun to shoot.

    Thanks for watchin bud!

  • Wait, you didn't talk about the safeties, like if you have kids in the house or something, (and careless people leave their guns out), which on would have been better?

  • @DutchKid121 Neither model possesses magical properties that cause one to be more "kid" safe than the other. No child should ever be handling a firearm without the supervision of a responsible adult and thus the safeties aren't intended to specifically protect children. It isn't possible to design a system of reasonable cost that will be 100% safe to those who are either too young or haven't been instructed to use a firearm safely. My video was intended for those already familiar with each gun

  • @Patriot36 ofcourse, I'm just saying, if it got into the wrong hands, which safety feature would be better. But thank you for the video, it was pretty usefull.

  • @DutchKid121 Neither. Both have identical trigger safeties just like many other designs, but again the safeties will not prevent the gun from firing "in the wrong hands." If the trigger is pulled the fun will fire. The safeties are only designed to reduce the chance of an accident when the pistol is in the right hands. An analogy would be the example of an automobile that has ABS or stability control. The operator still has to operate the vehicle responsibly.

  • @DutchKid121 I dislike a safety, I need to pull a gun ready to fire. I also make sure to lock up when I have to leave home without them.

  • @DutchKid121 "safeties" kill more people because of the intention. A gun is never safe. Your finger is your safety. Glock will not compromise no matter how much the military would pay them. You wouldn’t believe how many law enforment and military fumble with safeties during drills and in firefights. Safeties kill people.

  • Very helpful review, thanks. Appreciate the comparison to the G34 as I owned a few of those at one time, and have some Glocks in the house now.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Very glad it was helpful! I really appreciate the kind support buddy!

  • Brute has no idea what he's talking about my m&p has never rusted on me I've had mine for 3yrs now! Never a jam or miss fire I've put at least 3000 rounds through it. Policemen only like the glock because they are usually sponsored by them that's all. I know this because I have family members that are policemen. Made in America is where it's at. Smith&wesson for life!

  • S&W doesn't rust any different than any other gun...you have no idea what your talking about.

I own both 34 and the 9mm 5" M&P pro. First they are both awesome, super accurate guns, both fire very reliable. After having shot thousands of rounds from both, the M&P takes the cake for me. It just sits better in my hand, Best Match gun under a G. Still love my G-34 But the M&P wins for me.

  • you will have no problem putting your money on your glock when that m&p rusts solid. i am a police officer and every guy i know who carrys an m&p bitchs because it rusts and the front site is known to rust off. and you just can not beat the reliability of a glock.

  • @BruteStrength55 Interesting, I've never had a firearm rust on me ever, never mind, "rust solid." Sound like quite the impressive failure.

  • @BruteStrength55

Ya that is BULL SHIT. You would have to be an idiot to let your firearm "rust solid". It would take months and months for that to happen. And the M&P has a stainless steel slide and barrel.... you sir. Are an idiot Glock fanboy.

  • @BruteStrength55 what an incredible crock of shit

  • @BruteStrength55 Holy shit you must live under the ocean. I've carried M&P9 for 3 years barely any maintenance and yet no rust.

  • @BruteStrength55 Just because your a police officer dosent mean you have any more knowledge than the average citzen in fact it seems as tho you have less. I think that they have close to the same finish. And i doubt that it would rust off if it would so anything i think it would rust in.

  • shoot both but i still prefer the glock.

  • The M&P doesn't come with a Dawson front sight.

  • @PAGunGuy So it's simply a S&W set-up?

  • @Patriot36: The gun comes stock with a Hi-Viz front sight. Most 9 Pro owners swap it out for a Dawson Precision sight, as the fiber optic rod on the Hi-Viz is really large. Dawson makes a nice slim front sight with a smaller fiber optic rod.

  • @PAGunGuy Roger that! Thanks so much for the info!

  • I took your recommendation and bought the M&P9 Pro. My local shop had the M&P and G34 for the same price! ($610, and the M&P has the brushed stainless slide—very cool.) This eliminated price as a consideration. Wow, the M&P is an easy shooter. I don't have a ton of trigger time on pistols, but it made even me look damn good at 25 yards. The only thing I don't like is that the rear site is adjustable for only windage, but it's a pretty straight shooter out of the box. Thanks for your input!

  • @neangler Awesome bro! Congrats!!!

  • Good review...

  • M&P fan boy

  • Great review. I'm considering one (or both) guns, and this was helpful. By the way, you don't have the usual caveman "duh" attitude of most reviewers. THAT'S much appreciated!

  • @neangler Thank you! Even now, I would have trouble picking one of the two. I know that if I flipped a coin I'd be happy either way. I appreciate your kind comments!

  • Great review. I'm considering one (or both) guns, and this was helpful. By the way, you don't have the usual caveman "duh" attitude of most reviewers. THAT'S much appreciated!

  • The picture quality of your camera seems really good. What camera is that?

  • @swiftcoyote It's a fixed lens SLR Canon SX20IS. I've been very pleased with it although a dedicated camcorder of reasonable quality would do even better.

  • I enjoy your reviews. I'm anxiously awaiting part 2!

  • @DTMB87 Glad you're enjoying them! Thank you! Part two has been up for several days. There's a link at 12:40 in this video. Just click on the 12:40 and click on the link in the video. Enjoy!

  • Great comparison P. I consider many of the points you raised to be subjective, but on the other hand I see how many of the differences you mentioned will be desirable to many shooters out there. The M&P pistol is a solid platform and is an excellent alternative to the mainstream Glock. Keep up the good work Brother.

  • @Pleaforwar Thanks Dan! Great to hear your thoughts on this topic. Part 2 should be up tomorrow.

  • Thanks for this review! Looking forward to Part II. I had my choices down to these two and my instincts push me toward the M&P for the reasons you have pointed out so far. But the force from the Glock side is VERY STRONG! Soo many of 'em out there and they just plain work.

My only real concerns with the M&P are: 1) Will the finish hold up as well as Glock'? 2) Aftermarket support-if and when I look to tweak the M&P will I be able to find key parts in high quality like for the Glocks?

  • @zeusmanfl Very welcome! Part 2 will be up in 2-3 days.

    1) I doubt it. It's a nice finish but the glock finish is a bit tougher. Few sharp edges to wear as well.

    2) Fewer parts and accessories for M&P but probably enough to accomplish whatever you might have need or want for.

  • @Patriot36 Truly appreciate the candid review and your response to my questions. Very eager to see Part 2. I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these. If you were looking for a tactical shooting 9mm under $1000 dollars what else would you consider?

  • @zeusmanfl Can't think of another right now that I'm really "hot" about. Sig226 & FNP-9 would be in the background somewhere I guess but those aren't striker guns of course.

  • @zeusmanfl

Patriot listed some excellent options for alternative handguns. If you are looking for a defensive type pistol, CZ and Beretta are other great options. CZ can also fill the competitive niche as well. Good luck with your choice.

  • @Pleaforwar

Appreciate the input Pleaforwar! Looked at the CZ hard but decided on the M&P Pro 5". I think it's going to be a fun piece to own.

Great to see helpful comments & replies!

  • @Patriot36 The M&P has a melonite finish. Just like the tenifer finish of the Glock, both are near indestrucible.

Also, thanks for the video. The information about the M&P9 trigger was just what I was looking for. I will be buying the standard M&P9 model in a week, I really can't wait.

  • @zeusmanfl check out this company called Robar Companies, Inc...you can send in your weapon and they can coat the interior/exterior of ALL parts giving them an ultimate super durable finish...lifetime warranty...im very interested in their work

  • @macfin88 That's very unusual but yeah, if the 1911 didn't have a nicely tuned trigger, I could certainly see that happening. I'm glad you're enjoying it bud!

  • Hi Patriot..I don't own a G34 but I watched nutnfancy use it in a run & gun and it look great. That was until a couple of small pebbles fell into the small opening on top. The pistol jammed, which could happen to many pistols but I would hate to have my life depend on the gun firing and because of a pebble, I die. Something to consider when purchasing this gun. Blessings to you my friend.

  • @mizooch70 Yeah, I remember that video too. The thing is, you could probably try that 50 times and it would only happen once with a particular shaped pebble stuck in a particular place. It's a bit of a fluke but yeah, that's murphy's law. This is going to be a target and range gun with some outside the belt holster carry. Should see pretty light duty use. Thanks for watching, my friend!

  • Is there an easy way to fully detail strip the M&P?

I don't own one, but the M&P videos I have seen make it look a bit complicated compared to the full strip on a Glock.

  • @FightSocialism Yeah, it's pretty easy bud. I might cover that is Part 2 for ya.

  • @FightSocialism It's as easy as the glock...... Just pull the trigger. I think inventing an un- necessary tool was a mistake that could be considered a design flaw by someone who is not too knowledgeable regarding the M&P

  • My Gen 3 G34 factory got knocked off while unholstering.

  • @FightSocialism ment to say: My Gen 3 G34 factory SIGHT got knocked off while unholstering.

  • @FightSocialism Yeah, it can happen pretty easily. It's a really weak design but they're very inexpensive to manufacture do to these little shortcuts.

  • Thank u brother for doing a table top comparison on 2 pistols which are legal dwn under! (barrel length min of 120mm/4.7inchs)i lov my G34, but the M&P is a must get , most of the cops here use the M&P, G34 cost me $980 (about $960 in Us dollars) the M&P 9L is sold around the $1000 ($980 Us) looking forward to the Bang-Bang vid brother, top video good info (yes i hve knocked the frnt sight off my G34 grr) cheers P36 best wishes and stay safe my friend

  • @TheDishD Well that's cool Dish! I'm glad that I'm finally reviewing something that you're allowed to own. I always feel terrible for you guys down under who have to deal with such insanity where firearms rights are concerned. Then again, that's almost the entire planet these days. The G34 is a great gun! See ya for part 2!

  • My next pistol will be the M&P 9 L. I'm looking at the new Sig P290 for EDC but I'll have to shoot it before i commit. Good comparison video Patriot. Maybe you could consider rolling in a mini tripod into your EDC. Great work, keep 'em coming.

  • @MrSteney Thanks man! I've shot the 9L also. It's very nice. I have a mini tripod in my edc which was used in the Knoxx stock vid part 1but a full size tripod is needed to shoot straight down on the desktop, usually about 16-18 inches above. I'll have Part 2s for both the Knoxx stock and this video within the week. Thanks as always for the support!

  • @Patriot36 I was considering the Knoxx stock until I saw a video for the new Kel Tec KSG. I must have one!

I'll donate my shotgun scabbard to your channel, you could EDC the full size tripod slung on your back. :)

  • @MrSteney LOL...wouldn't that be a funny looking rig on my back! The KSG looks good. We'll have to wait and see how it holds up.

  • I Have the G20, and 29, wanting a 9mm in a different handgun, and torn between the M&P, and XDm.

  • @dbmers The XDM is a nice gun but just isn't as elegant as the M&P imo. It has several features that I care little about such as the protruding loaded chamber indicator, cocked indicator and grip safety that won't even allow the slide to be operated without depressing. Trigger on the M&P is better as well with less pre-travel. I wish they made the M&P in 10mm!

  • @Patriot36 Granted Ive never handled an M&P, but that trigger looks extremely fragile at the hinge location.

As for the XDM those things you mentioned arent high on my priority list either. It boils down to looks I guess.

10mm would be nice in a few brands....it has a pretty hardcore following...dont know why others havent offered it! At the moment I want a handguns in the service calibers, so 9mm and 45 are whats left. I think for .45 the FNP tactical is calling me.

  • I really like the look of the M&P, magazines similar?

  • @beast12101 Yes, a good looking pistol. Mags are steel without a plastic overmould. Capacity is 17+1 like the glock.

  • I was very suprised at how easily the glock front sight came off when installing the bid dot sights. I'm kind of in the market for a long slide pistol and this video helped out alot. I've heard many good things about the M&P line of pistols. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work.

  • @chanderson1 Very welcome my friend! Great job on the Big Dot Sights vid by the way!

  • Great review keep it upThanks

  • nice one buddy... i like that S&W..glocks are cheep as hell.. they work and are reliable.. but just cheep as hell

  • @lskw1 I like 'em but yeah, I know what you mean. They cost very little to manufacture.

  • Well Well I am on the fence too. I own a glock 34 and I like it, My friend who is helping me to get ready for State match own a MP pro. WELL for IDPA Glock rank as SSP pistol when the MP pro is a ESP. I could be wrong but that I was told. When it comes to ergonomics the MP pro feels very nice and Glock I got to work it. I change my glock sights for FO on front Black on rear. Well I may do the same and share notes. God Speed my friend. Looking forward for part two. I may sell a SIg for MP Pro

  • @TheTacticalDAD The G34 is a fine gun! I really like them a lot. MP pro is SSP and is fine for production class USPSA as well. If at all possible, keep the sig and get the M&P pro as an extra. :)

    Thanks for stopping by buddy!

  • That M and P looks like a Lizard, very scaly.

  • @semiautoriflelover Kinda looks like it's got some bite to it.

  • glock

  • Good work, looking forward to part two.

  • @1ILgunner Thanks! Should be up within the week.

  • Im a big glock fan though I have owned multiple handguns. I am really liking that m&p though. The grips look very ergonomic.

  • @xviperboax The ergonomic discussion will be at the end of part 2. Very true that it feels more natural than my old favorite, the glock.

  • that glock just looks ugly next to that sexy ass m&p...

  • @semisi2uh The Glocks are all very slab sided. People who love them also love that look. From a manufacturing standpoint, there's nothing to the slide on a glock. Very inexpensive to produce.

  • Great vid

  • @052187ful Thanks for stopping by man!
