The original idea for the title sequence was library footage of bombs dropping & planes being shot down, the BBC thought that did not fit in with a comedy show, so these graphics were used instead, as the song had already been recorded it was edited to fit the titles..

The edit is very good, considering the technology of the day but as you say, you can still hear it if you listen carefully.

I might have done this video differently in hindsight.

he hasn't changed the sound ... well, he has replaced the original sound with the full version sound. that doesn't mean he's edited either. He's just paused the video for a total of 10 seconds spread out throughout the whole clip. Wow ....
