To be honest I'm surprised all the comments are so positive on this video.... Kalgoorlie's one of the biggest holes in WA, and that isn't due to the superpit.
Looks like a nice, laid back, little country town. Maybe if I ever get back to Australia for another visit I'll make a stop. I always liked these kinds of places anyway. People always seem to be nicer in the less touristy places anywhere you go.
well treas0007, if these certain itinerants that you believe are being discriminated against decided to clean thier act up and stop breaking into peoples houses/cars, vandalising, street drinking, bludging off centrelink, urinating/defficating in public places and thier violent behavior, then perhaps we may begin to change our opinion of them. until then, nothing will change! most of us aknowledge that there are good in thier community who are tainted with the same brush. i am a local resident.
lovely video.lived their for a few years and absolutely loved it.I met heaps of wonderful people.Just recently moved back to nz,but hope to go back to kal soon.(wasn't impressed with the racism tho, what a pity)
thanks matethat was nice to see the town again. i moved over there to work but now im back in qld the town was sweet i just had some bad luck with some of the people there. i mite go back some day just for a week or two.
Kal Is a pretty cool place Its really not that bad at all I sometimes wish id never come home and was still there, the pubs are mean and yea its just like any other town really. its really civilised too . lol i thought it would be rough and and dodgy but I moved there by myself I was 19 and didnt know anyone there. go to the Goldustbackpackers and you meet alotta kool people...........
Just saw above how you had written me a message about a year ago ;) so have you come and gone have you ?? Where did you work and who for, we are still here and loving it ;)
Thanks for the tour! I'm from Canada and my daughter and her family (her hubby is an Ozzie) just moved to Kal last week! It was GREAT to see where they are living! Better than pictures! Cheers!
No worries, it is an awesome place and it will set them up for life if they play their cards right although things have slowed down a little here as they have every where but dun worry they will be pick up again...
I got a job in a mine in Kal, we did skimpies and used to wave at the prostitutes on the street they work. I'd love to go back one day, have fond memories of the place after finding my m8 after a 14,000 mile or so search.
Couldn't have a tour of my home town without showing the Boongs.

Anything you can get mate, is a little tricky and definately not cheap for rent...
Best bet, get 4 people together and share a house to share the rental cost..
