Guys I'm not sure any of you happened to know this, but John Shirrefs is actually a big fan of Rachel Alexandra. He actually visited her once. I'm sure hes devistated how many people took this non-existent rivalry to their heads. Its just stupid.
Thanks, as always, for posting videos from your barn. It was so wonderful to see Zardana. She is wonderful/beautiful/special and we were so happy she won in New Orleans. It was sad to see Life is Sweet, knowing that she is leaving your care. And thanks for introducing us to some of your other horses as well!
I hope Zenyatta and all her connections are adjusting to Life Is Sweets departure. It must be very sad and bittersweet when one retires. I imagine you never get use to it.Please let us know how she and Zenyatta are adjusting to life without the other.
Thanks for another lovely video, John. That close-up of Zeny at the end was so beautiful. (Is that cotton I see in her ears at times?) Also, thank you for all you've done for Life is Sweet, too. I'll sure miss your videos of her. I hope she adjusts well to her new life in Kentucky. I think she'll miss all of you, though.
I imagine Zenyatta would be feeling the departure of her "sister" acutely as would everyone associated with Life is Sweet. Not easy saying farewell to loved friend, even when it's the four-legged kind. She was one very talented racemare and had an adorable persona to match. Tough on the track and even tougher to rouse from a nap. Chin up everyone at the "Sherriffs Barn". Thanks for sharing this video with us. BTW, congrats on both Zardana's and Zenyattas wins!
Wow! You've got every trainer's "dream team" of horses -- Australian horse of the year, Scenic Blast, Zardana who BEAT horse of the year Rachel Alexandra, and of course the undefeated - and the one and only - Zenyatta. . . this is just awesome to have em all under one barn!
I hope you will video Life is Sweet on her last day with you. I don't know why because I will just bawl my eyes out, but I feel at this point I want to cry with everybody that works with you. I know it will be a tough day.
Zardana looks very full of herself and proud---as well she might be! One just has to love it for John Shirreffs. The non-winning Trainer of the Year (but not for us)ships out-of-town with one of his supporting horses, and knocks off the HOY! Meanwhile, only minutes later on the West Coast, the non-winning HOY weaves her way through traffic to sail past the competition without so much as breaking a bead of sweat! Not a bad weekend for the Shirreffs' barn! Great to see Scenic Blast return!
Zenyatta and Life is Sweet sharing one last walk was so cute... so sad that Sweetie is leaving, but she'll have a nice retirement in the bluegrass country...
And nice upset with Zardana! She's amazing up close.
Thanks for these awesome behind-the-scenes looks into the sport of thoroughbred racing... wonderful!
Life is Sweet has been retired... so sad, but it was the right decision, so she is going to Kentucky to be a momma... I think she's being bred to Smart Strike (?)
Mr. Sherriffs you are going to spoil us as much as you do your horses!..And... YES, Zardana you did us so very proud. I was beyond ecstatic, and you even made my husband happy be rendering me speechless.

I'm sure Life is Sweet will like being a broodmare. She'll be able to sleep in as long as she wants.

Zardana looks really good coming back from her win over Rachel Alexandra. Wonder why they didn't take Zardana on to Oaklawn for the Apple Blossom?

@keybender I read/heard somewhere that she is being pointed towards the Apple Bliossom.
