@3dwardXP - I have this CPU in my backup PC at the moment so no real need to OC it, when I had it in my main PC I had it at 2.8GHz for a while. I am into overclocking though.
i never understood the phenom really, seeing as my amd athlon black edition 5000+ @ 3.1ghz beats your super pi and cost only 108 canadian dollars when i got it almost 2 years ago... having said that i feel as tho its just hanging in there but seeing as phenoms are newer chips how can it be that its performing even slower in super pi......
before you hate, im cpu bound in most games but they are still 60fps+
@3dwardXP - Since SuperPI supports only one core, it's logic that a dual core at 3.1GHz is faster than quad core at 2.5GHz in it. If you want to compare multi-core performance, compare Cinebench 10 scores for example.
got my system stable at 3.2ghz now super pi 1m in 28.6
i thought super pi also utilized memory performance as well
i just dont get how my old processor is only 4 seconds slower in super pi versus the newer amd i was gonna get, i mean 200 bucks for 4 seconds faster... when this chip was only 108 way back when i got it (i had to by cooler for it)
the only real positive thing i can think of is the cache increase if i did upgrade probably help games out quite a bit, but then agn duno
people are still asking why intel is better at it...superpi wasn't actually made for amd but whatever...

so you gonna overclock it then re-run the super pi?
3dwardXP 1 year ago
@3dwardXP - No I probably won't overclock it.

@arvutihull
why not? lol
i usually say that for about the first 30 minutes of owning new hardware.
i would only oc it tho if it was in a good board.... well no im lying again....
not big into overclocking?

i guess i just expected more out of newer amd chips
i know intels super pi a lot faster, just makes me want off the amd setup - damn intels to expensive and i always cave to amd tho.

what the hell? my p7450 @ 2.13 GHz is faster...

@smartguy9765 - Intel's are always faster in SuperPI than AMD's.

@arvutihull
what exactly is the reason, is it because Intel's faster at crunching numbers or is it more of an architecture thing?

My laptop beat your 1 M time by 12 seconds

My i7 beats your laptop by 8,5 seconds.

Wtf, my core 2 duo @ 2.2 ghz beats you in every one.

Of course, Intels are faster in SuperPI.
