People used to clap all the time upon landing in the United States. I haven't heard it in ten years though. I think it's too bad, it is a nice gesture to the flight crew, especially if they did a good job.
I was there last year with this cool 180 deg left turn on approach on Boeing 757. Rhodes is a wonderful island but I prefer KOS. KOS is my beautiful Greek Island Forever !!!
This brings back memories of my first flight, i was 10 and flew gatwick to rhodes. Btw, i don't understand clapping on landing either. Maybe its cos i'm a brit, i've noticed its common in other countries - portugal, spain, italy etc
once somebody told his point of view concerning the clapping: "It's the pilot's job to bring you down, so you if you clap if you're down again, you also would have to clap if you go by bus and the driver stops at the bus-stop without an accident^^
well personally i claped once because we had a 19 hour delay at rhodes the second time i went and we had to land in venice and when u land bak at manchester its such a relife
What always bugs me though is why on earth do people clap after landing? The weather looked wonderful, visibility was good, winds were calm. Sometimes I wonder if people have any faith in pilots at all.

clapping is very common in the uk as well now. I guess its a way of thanking and congratulating the pilots for a good flight and good landing.

@ShadowsWithinDarknes
clapping is worth do you clap for a taxi driver when he bring you to the train station??? this is the fucking job of the pilot to fly us
MrWestmc 1 year ago
@MrWestmc
well no cus thats more simple pilots have to train for years to do there job as for a taxi driver anyone can do that.

clapping on a landing is a common way of showing respect to the pilot for bringing you down safely. I'm a pilot so i know :)
