  • First time I ever heard Di Stefano sing in English. Would loved to have known what they were saying. Looks very entertaining.

  • please visit the site: IN MEMORIA DI GIUSEPPE DI STEFANO in facebook

  • What is this song?

  • qualcuno puo' scrivere i titoli di tutti i brani?

May somobody writing the song titles?

  • What is the name of the song he sings at the end of the video?

  • he had such charm, flair and machismo.... so Italian yet sensitive.

    Wonderful man!!

    Great voice.

  • That man could charm the birds off the trees... Of all the great tenor legends of the 50s and 60s he had the sweetest disposition... Un italiano vero in the best sense! Where are they today? I love his joke at 7:08 !! You can see he really gets a kick from all this and enjoys himself !!! Does anybody know where I can get the whole footage of this show?.Thank you ever so much for posting this!

    Kind regards

  • He had the most beautiful tenor voice.. I can see why Callas and Pav were nuts about him, because I am!

  • SERATA IN ONORE DI GIUSEPPE DI STEFANO, Giovedì 8 Aprile 2010, ore 18:00, Teatro alla Scala di Milano (ingresso libero)

  • what is the name of the French song that di stefano sings, the second to last tune that he gets right.

  • @giancarloguerrero Fascination by Féraudy

  • I'm glad I am not a tenor. Who can dare to sing after such god? What a voice! What musicality! What grace and charisma!

  • A Sicilian from Catania. What a voice he had. He was the number 1 guy for along time. Pavorotti and Carreras modeled themselves after him. Now Pavorotti is gone. But we have those 3 teenage Italian Tenors on the way up.

  • Wow this is so cute! Beloved Giuseppi is

so sweet. I'm qvelling!!!!!!!!! It's so wonderful to really see and hear the man speaking, as well as singing. I'd like to

take Giuseppi Di Stefano e Josep Carreras, wrap them up in a big fancy

box tied with red ribbons and take them home - Ah amore!

  • @tuadolcefanciulla YES YES YES YES!!!!

  • Wonderful.

Fantastico pianissimo.. Bravo maestro!!

  • sei immortale .....cia maestro!!!

  • One of the greatest. But doesn't he remind you of Ricky Riccardo?

  • @tenornmd Yes he does . he has that masculine swagger that Ricky Riccardo did .. He is quite attractive.

  • Giuseppe Di Stefano....Nessuno mai come lui...Grazie Maestro.....

  • Addio Maestro!!!Tu sei per sempre Pippo!!!RIP

  • As Pavarotti said, he had the voice of the sun....

  • You are so right.

One could not say it better.

He really loved to sing, singing was his live.

And by the way, Pippo was like the "rondine" he sings of in this song. He was happy, if only the sun was shining, so he followed the sun and the summer, staying in his beloved Italy in summer, and spending the winter month at the kenian coast, near Mombasa.

  • He nailed it w/ that description... b/c when I hear him sing, I feel like I'm bursting from the inside out w/ indescribable emotion... some beautiful soul-crushing combination of joy and ache and love... something as overwhelming as the sun.

  • @VivaMariaCallas del monaco and pavarotti said he was the best of all time too

  • I first heard this amazing artist just a few years ago while listening to a opera d'oro live recording of rigoletto in mexico city in 1952 with callas and the baritone panaeri? what genuine excitement this recording presents ,as do many others, by this man... and his colleagues! .now Pippo is gone? well his artistry , and his recordings, will never leave the true music lover's heart's or homes that they abide in. bravo!!

Who's left now Il grande Bergonzi?

    May God bless you all.

    Thanks.

  • Ciao Pippo! Sei stato il più grande! GRAZIE!

  • Grazie maestro!

  • what a romantic voice!!!!!!!!!!

  • Today is a very sad day for all who love opera and song,we have lost our beloved "pippo" the greatest and most beautifull tenor voice of the 20th century,God must have needed a songbird in heaven. his voice will live forever. may he rest in peace. Bravissimo pippo.

  • I can't fully express in words my sorrow at hearing of the death of the greatest singer of all time, Giuseppe di Stefano. In this video, we get a small glimpse of Pippo singing in English. I think it would be safe to say that if he would have recorded in English, he could have given the American singers of the '50's a real run for their money. Bravo Pippo!!!

  • Pippo passed away peacefully today March 3rd, 2008, at his home in Italy. Bravo, dear Pippo and rest in peace. Thank you for the joy your voice and your humour brought to all of us who love opera.

  • La vocce più bella del tutti tempi!! Grazie Pippo, per tuo canto del cuore.

  • As Paris would say, "that's hot!"

  • Bravo, Pippo! Does anyone know title of the last song Pippo didn't guess?

  • Believe it or not, the man with GDS in this clip, Mario Riva, was even more famous than Di Stefano. I still remember how shocked all of Italy was at his passing, for an accidental fall in the Arena di Verona, of all places. I agree with him:"We gained a great Di Stefano,(when he decided to sing opera rather than pop) but we lost a great Nino Florio"

  • I don't believe. There is onlu one Pippo.!

  • WOW!!! How much more beautiful and musical can it get? So sweet and so moving. How wonderful!! Wonderful Di Stefano!! Bravissimo Pippo!!

  • grande pippo ..

  • Pippo was Pavarotti's favourite over Gigli!!!! No wonder!!!!

  • What a wonderful refreshing clip. Thank you.

  • What class, what sincerity. A wonderfully relaxed Di Stefano; an insight into this great voice of the 20th century.

  • Thankyou also from me Onequin65

    A great voice forever

  • Wonderfull, Di Stefano is the best of the postwar, Onegin65 you also are the best.

  • Bravissimo Pippo!!! La vocce più bella!!!

  • Wow thanks for posting this, GDS had in my opinion the greatest voice of the 20th Century.

  • Yes, I quite agree !!!

  • Bella sensibilità. Bravo!

  • Many thanks for a rare treat Onequin !

  • A real treat, even to hear him sing in English! Thank you Onegin!!

  • @gilliebest Yeah! I don't think he sang in English very often. (I've heard him speal English a few times, though. He's pretty good at it.)

  • Bravo, Pippo! Thanks for sharing of rare film footage, Onegin!

  • Grande Di Stefano! God bless you Di Stefano.

  • He brought joy to so many of us, even those of us

who never saw him live on stage. Bravo Pippo and bless you. We will remember you.
