Yes, most pubic school teachers are: molesters, criminals, villains, tyrants, and worst of all, some of them say, "...pray to Jesus!" Even during public school!... And yes, of course they are definable idiots and we are awesome Geniuses!!!
Yep, evil teachers can be the fuel for hell because of that they preached wrong.
And teachers sometimes make mistakes creating their tests and I have to correct their english! WTF!!?!
My high school the teachers dont care if you swear or anything...there is no disapline..which i dont care but as a student im spose to hate my teachers, yet i only hate my science one, laungage (For good reason), my OLD pdhpe teacher, my OLD maths teacher and the librarian...By old i mean used to be my teacher but now isnt..Its like they went to the carnival and said ''Lets find the most iritating people we find and make them teachers''.
I strongly agree. Most of the public teachers in schools are idiots! They act like they know History, Biology, Physics, etc., but they actually get the steps and answers from a book that is hidden from the students. In fact, my old high school Geometry teacher, "Ms. Leuturio" acted like she knows everything about Geometry, but ironically, she actually got the answers from the teacher's book.
First off your story is funny as hell. Second I agree with your statements about Dewey in one of your comments. I am an art education major, at a state college and all I can say is that the crap they teach us is completely useless. We learn all this theoritical nonsense which is essentially just blind optimism and mindless marxist banter. You mention the Vanne Dam Academy, whats different about it?
My electronics teacher has taught me nothing, and all we do is do stuff on the computers, and we did a project that approximately 5 students got done, but hardly nobody did not know about the project, and we have to wait like 10 minutes for students to work out in the hallway for them to finish up stuff for the project... Everyone played on the computer, and at the end of the period, he says a number of you did nothing but computer, you know whose name he called out? My name! That pissed me off!
After seeing the anti-intellectualism of public schooling first hand I would never send my children there. Now that we have the internet we no longer need their barbaric social engineering and extreme delusion of supremacy. School has become obsolete.
The public school teachers reign of tyranny is almost at an end. Now that we have the internet we no longer need your schools. Your thought control and barbaric social structuring is obsolete. You force children into dangerous situations both dangerous physically and extremely detrimental to mental health for your pleasure of being in control. People are growing up with PTSS because of your schools and it must stop. You fail children who are intellectuals and pass ones who just know how to study
@a1rh3add Schools do not protect children. Children are abused by other children, absolutely without any punishment to the bullies. If they tried that shit as adults they would be in jail! Schools is a giant asshole for losers to be babysat. Now, education is important, creative arts is important, trade is important. There must be a revamp of the whole school system to focus on subjects that matter without some absurd tangets that make children do obsene things that add no value to them.
Although I don't read such lame books, I follow your weak attempt at an insult.
Re: your list, why would I waste time focusing on the non-essentials? The core problem in education is the public school teachers. In part, their incompetence is the result of their training (see Children's Literacy Initiative).
Re: complainers, aren't those the customers that you are dismissing? You demonstrate why public education has to be enforced by guns.
Layoff everyone, and hire only the best of the best, not to mention those who arn't burned out due to years of teaching.
Once we have the young, innovative, and the best teachers overall, we re hire the not so best teachers as assistance's to grade and do all of the extra work.
Teachers should be hired based on merit,no seniority.
I live in a school district where only the "best" teachers are hired and retained. In fact, one of the high schools in this area has been ranked the best public high school in the country. Yet, it SUCKS!!!!
Public education teacher colleges are training incompetents. Beyond privatization of education, we require in teacher education a rejection of Dewey's Progressivism and Japan's traditionalism. The model for the future is the Van Damme Academy.
There are a lot of idiot K12 teachers. But only idiots would be attracted to a job with only one "planning period" and a mini-lunch-time along with 6 classes a day. Only idiots will do this or desperate people. Shrink the classes and give teachers enough time to actually plan and work on their classes/grading during their work day... and smart people will want to teach.
Teachers also lack common sense. not all but most. I'm the head of the maintence department for an elementary school. A teacher paged me once becasue her pencil sharpener wasn't working. Upon my inspection of the pencil sharpener, I found that it was packed-jammed full of pencil shavings! Duh!
Absolutely right. The only time kids ever learn anything in public school is during lunch. The social setting is important to childrens' development, but besides that the public school system is completely worthless. The US consistently ranks dead last in all academic international standards among developed nations and even many impoverished countries. As an American, this is absolutely horrifying. Kids who make it really do it despite the education system, not because of it
maybe you should have made your daughter do what the assignment required..instead of formulating excuses for her to get out of her responsiblities..great lesson..thats whats wong with the country boneheads like you interfering with the school system...the system has ts flaws..but this wasnt that big of deal
Actually, my high school drop out daughter (Daisy) is currently a manager of an operation exceeding a million in annual revenue and making more money than her older sister who graduated summa cum laude with two degrees from a prestigious college. Additionally, Daisy is actively writing a book based upon her independent study (monetization!!!). Further, Daisy is developing plans for converting her short business experience into her own entrepreneurial venture.
In the context of her success in the real world including significant responsibility and leadership, would you care to hypothesize about how public school teachers alienated her superior intellect? Note: it was a big deal because the teachers were wasting Daisy's time, which was more valuable to her.
@jwoodswce im sorry perhaps i was being to harsh and sending you the wrong impression..i also had unusually high scores in school as i was artistic...and the system isnt geared for people who are superior or inferior for that matter..and this needs to change..but my point is ..who is to judge whats a waste of time ? you..maybe dressing up would have been an artistic outlet for her...and perhaps fun
Under free association, it is a mutual agreement between the service provider and the customers, in this case the parents. However, under public education, it is solely the choice of majority whim or bureaucratic fiat enforced by legal compulsion.
In the case of older kids, parents should take substantial input from them as part of the maturation process.
@jwoodswce i certainly see your point..but thats the system..if you disagree with the curriculum then you have a right to protest and/or fight them through various avenues set up for that purpose...staging a rebellion over every trivial issue that you happen to disagree with is counterproductive in the sense that the your daughter being bored for a bit isnt nearly as damaging to her as the damage that would be done by denying the other children a means to effectively learn about history
My kids are now out of public school so I don’t need to waste time trying to change the system from within. Attempting to work within this system is a waste of effort; parents should instead selfishly focus upon their own kids. However, I can work to build an alternative system for my own profit and the benefit of my clients to the extent that it is permitted by law, which imposes a significant entry barrier via compliance requirements.
@jwoodswce at the same time..you speak of threatening behavior exhibited towards the children instilling in them fear of authority...now this i am in total agreement with you on...this should not be tolerated ..and should be fought diligently against by caring parents like yourself...for that i commend you sir..and ill fight right with you
"...threatening behavior exhibited towards the children..."
That is not an accident, but a predictable consequence of basing education upon compulsion. If you want to get violence out of schools, the first place to start is by removing the government from education.
Cooperative action occurs in the civil society outside of government.
well u should...do you want to go working a a store that will only give u minimum wage...you have to pay for house, car, gass for car, taxes, and all that crappy stuff...i would rather have a good job and live life well and have some fun!!
you are such an idiot u think that all teacers are idiots...well they arnt, im in grace 7 and i like my teachers as teachers...they are funny, and its easy to get one of my teachers of of subject(lol)...my favourite teacher ever was grade 4 teacher SHE WAS THE BEST
@1997sour but teachers are idiots i hate all of them they are so annoying im in 9th grade the work is so hard and all the teachers just keep being horrible i hate school so much i dont care about education at all
Tons of teachers act differentely infront of parents then when there not there. If any teacher pisses me off i tell them straight up and if a teacher says something stupid i confront them straight up
Public school teachers are dumbfucks. This teacher today tried to correct my page that had 0 mistakes and said that it was too long so take some words out. Teachers always have to be right, their fucking retarded. They really dont think or have any common sense. I hate all highschool teachers and they can all ROT IN HELL
It is commendable that your children and yourself desired a higher level of education than that provided by the school system. The teachers you disparage as idiots have their standards of what an education means, and yours is higher. Nothing has ever prevented you or your daughters from reaching beyond the school's basal expectations independently. So why the need for confrontation? In life meaningless standards will be expected from those in power, like managers. What will you say then?
Teachers are idiotic, and/or they don't know how to teach effectively. One of my teachers has unbelievably poor spelling and grammar. You'd think that being able to spell would be a requirement to become a teacher. Apparently not. At least every other statement on the Powerpoints he shows us contains a mistake. It's truly pathetic and sad that I, being excellent at spelling and grammar, should have to be taught by a teacher who can't even spell or use proper grammar.
Whats funny is back when i was in highschool i didnt give a shit about it just like his daughter. It really wasnt doing me any good, so i dropped out, and took the GED test and passed. It was only AFTER i dropped out that i began to find myself more interested in learning about things (Current events and such). I feel im a better, more well educated person because i dropped out. Im actually smarter then most of my friends who DID graduate lol
i know some GREAT public school teachers, but my problem is that they bitch about their pay.
they amesome benefits, they work <3/4 of the year (not including christmas & "work days", fantastic retirement package, PLUS if they fail & they do all the time, THEY KEEP THEIR JOB!!!!!
If I fail at my job, someone dies & I lose my license. I"M DONE!!!
ALL they have to do is not sleep with or indoctrinate the kids and they do that all the time.
and yes public schools are stupid, i never learn anything, ive learned way more over the internet this summer then i have in the 8th and 9th grade combined, hhahahah its true
i want to get home schooled, il probably learn more that way.......
and yea not all teachers are stupid 2 out of my 7 teachers where smart this year.....
There are idiots in all walks of life. But you are saying all teachers are idiots. This is a profoundly incorrect statement. So you had a bad experience with one teacher, so you condemn them all. Not very intelligent, and not very open minded. Teachers might be idiots because they have to get through to people like you.
Work on your listening and reading skills. I deal with this issue in the vid and sidebar. Further, in the vid, I refer to the statistics about the general academic under-performance by education majors.
How did you get around the law for kindergarten, isn't it a LAW. I thought she did not graduate. And the schools must have done something right unless you think she learned all of this knowledge through osmosis. College is set up the same way as high school classroom wise.
Re: law, private school allowed for merit based admissions, but public does not.
Re: not graduating, different stories about different daughters. Daisy did not graduate high school and instead started college early.
Re: school learnin', not from osmosis but by my example and direction, and her choices. She did significant amounts of self-directed learning outside of school.
Re: similar high school and college, chairs are similar but academic content different.
June just graduated summa cum laude with a double major from one of the best schools in the US. She entered kindergarten a year earlier than allowed by state law. She graduated from high schools with enough college credits that she was one shy of being a sophomore. She was accepted by all the grad schools that she applied to, and will continue on to get a doctorate. On top of her academic achievements, she has been an active athlete and taken leadership roles in several organizations.
I knew it...the whole reason for his "opinion" is because his feelings were hurt by a teacher...boo hoo, so sad. My guess is that you don't have many friends and don't get along with many people, including teachers, loser.
Couple weeks ago in chemistry the teacher decided to go on a tangent about the Oklahoma City Bombing, said like 320 people died and that Timothy McVeigh did it because he didn't want to pay income tax, that he represented a good portion of libertarians, and that half the population of the state of Idaho is crazy -I started trying to correct him but the look he gave me told me it wasn't worth it.
Just a little over a month til this bullshit is over..
I got suspended for 2 weeks becuase i had scissores IN FRICKEN SCHOOL. my dumbass fucking teacher called security becuase i had a basice school supply god these people are dumbasses
The government "cleverly" and patiently set out decades ago to start dumbing down students because they knew those same students would some day be voting our politicians into office. Guess which way public school educated people are most likely to vote today. They are going to vote for the party that wants to do all their thinking for them.
You do have to be carefuly in being critical of authority figures in your child's life though because they are not old enough to distinguish between why you should respect some authority figures and not others. Some kids just see it as their parents teaching them it is okay to disrespect authority and can end up using that against a parent that was trying to help them.
Geee, you must've suffered from some tramatic episode in your childhood that prevented you from growing up, Mr. Jwoodswce. Here's some free advice: You're no longer 15. Get on with your life....
yup teachers r idiots!!!!!!!! all of mine. u r right they have NO sence of humor. and i have a teacher that hates me and yells at me if im in the hallway for no reason
Your first statement is a generalization. You also state that there are public school teachers you respect. So, some teachers are not idiots. Frankly, I'd like to see you try it out, teaching that is. Then get back to me. It ain't easy, trust me.. Fortunately, enough non-idiot teachers are out there, that in spite of all travail -- much of it systemic as well as due to poor parenting -- manage to create a sense of wonder, curiosity, and lifelong thirst for knowledge in their students.
Translated as statement of public school teachers' idea of customer service: "We have guns, and we are ready to use them. These kids are our hostages, so back off."
This comment reminds me of a conversation I heard between teachers at a restaurant, in which, one teacher was bragging about putting a parent in their proper subservient place.
In retrospect, I now recognize that sending my kids to the best public schools available was still sending them to 'welfare' school.
There is a big difference between my dentist and most public school teachers, the former is competent.
From a broad perspective the quality of output is down, the efficiency of resource utilization is down, and customer satisfaction is down, yet public school teachers do not recognize that it is their methodology that is flawed. For an example, see my vid "Stupid Teachers - Our Synonym Problem."
Teachers moan that if only they were given more power and could utilize more force then things would get better (ex. mandatory pre-K and mandatory community service, and higher salaries to reward their failures).
Most public school teachers do not introspect, check their premises, and realize that the cause of failure stares them in the mirror every morning.
The reason your daughter did poorly was because you let her get away with not doing her assignments. Then you turn around and blame the teachers. That is ridiculous.
Thank you for demonstrating my point about teachers deflecting responsibility for their own incompetence. You failed to consider whether those assignments offered an value.
What does coloring a turkey have to do with drivers classroom education? An actual example that Daisy would like to have explained to her. She thinks that it is an attempt at fascist mind control, conditioned obedience.
Contrary to you assumptions, I have blamed Daisy for not exploiting the system to advance her certifications as public school requires; however, she has too much integrity for that.
Have you ever noted the number of educationally worthless assignments that teachers choose to give students in order to make up points for poor test performance, which measures the teachers failure to teach?
Also, how long will it be before teachers understand that assignments to students should vary based upon test performance? Or that individual assignments can and should be given based upon specific questions missed on a test? Why shouldnt an A test-taker do less homework than a D student, who requires additional remediation?
Because turning assignments in on time is a requirement to pass the class. Someone capable of acing tests should have no problem coloring a turkey.
Students need to learn that in order to get anywhere in this world they are required to kiss butt. If they don't learn how to brown nose a teacher, how are they going to know how to brown nose their future bosses?
So you are asserting that school assignments do not have to be reasonably related to teaching the subject of the class in the context of the individual's ability, so long at it teaches blind unquestioning obedience.
Having hired hundreds of people over then years, and managed and promoted them as subordinates, I can authoritatively report that your conception of an employers expectations is unrelated to reality. No wonder business leaders condemn the failings of public schools.
That comment was seriously uncalled for so I will ignore it. I don't know what industry you are in but I serioulsy doubt you would keep employees who don't do their job.
Actually, dont ignore my comment; because, if you are a teacher, then you merit much worse. Again, based upon your comments, you would be like a concentration camp guard; instead of destroying them physically, you destroy their minds and spirits.
My employees are not paid to kiss my ass. Part of their job is to be smart, innovative, and willing challenge orthodoxy to do things in reality better than we have ever done them before; continuous improvement driven by induction. I would have no use for drones educated according to your expectations, no matter how pretty they can color within the lines.
another thing: teh freaken front office ppl are dang hypocrites. OH MY GOSH! SO the lady infront desk is all rude to students and when parents come they're all smiley. What pisses me off the mostis when stupid teachers forget.I failed 3 tests where my teachers said that they were going to give it on friday or thursday. Then they come in a 2 days before the test and are like 'I hope ou guys are ready' We protest telling them that we're supposed to have it later but then they get angry. so we shutup
Omygosh I totally understand you. I got a referral once because I typed OMG Monday sucks to a teacher in an email while this dumbass kid got away with saying the F word in class. Then I had to stay in the damn office just because I wore a T-shirt until my parents drove down and bought me a blouse. Wthell? My teachers are actually cool and basically 'f*ck' the school system and teach their own way and believe it or not I learn more. BUUUUT my cience teachers always suck.
(cont.) Don't hesitate to choose the teachers whose class your child will be in. Move them to the least-regimented one. Look for "progressive" projects in schools, that give the children some modicum of intellectual freedom. Look for desks arranged as learning centers, not in rows and columns all facing the front. There are good learning situations you can get your child into. Remember that learning is NOT the result of teaching.
It's true. Public education is a babysitting service. No more than that. If you don't need the babysitting service, don't send your kids there. If you do need that service, because both parents are working, it's time to ask yourself why you bothered to have kids if you intended to institutionalize them that way. If you need the service because you are a single parent, I'm sorry.
Looks like finally I'm not alone. Public education is exactly a babysitting service, that's what I've always thought and why I have always hated school to death (though I got top marks). Thanks for existing, bwrich.
Unfortunately, public colleges have so corrupted the education of future educators that even private schools are undermined.
Fortunately, exception individuals, like Lisa Van Damme, have been developing objectively correct methods of education as a cure to the current two defective schools of thought on the subject.
In your continuing education efforts may your virtues be rewarded with success.
Your comments about wishing to fail saddens me. It is symptomatic of the bastards winning.
Education and knowledge are an essential value to one's life.
If you have been denied this value by public education, compulsory attendance, and confiscatory taxation, then don't lay down and accept it.
I don't know your circumstances, but there are ways to beat the system without hurting yourself and your future. Consider talking seriously with your parent(s).
I think you misunderstood. I just want the school to loose money. I'm fact making the Honor roll, and very pro-education, it's just the school dose not do a very good job all the time so by failing our NCLB (No-Child Left Behind) assessments(The assessments that decide federal school funding), so by purposely failing these, means the school gets less money.
Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad to hear that you are successful, so that when your indenture to the teachers' unions expires then you will be free and able to pursue your own goals.
Please remember the schools and teachers have governmental force at their disposal and will not hesitate to use it to destroy a student's life, so don't go out of your way to antagonize them as they may inflict a price.
If the teacher used the detention time to teach the missed material, then you should be grateful because that was a good teacher; but if detention was shut up and shut down time, then that teacher was incompetent.
I think that anyone that gets a D or F on a test should have mandatory after school detention to review the missed material. Further, for anyone that gets an A on the test, subsequent homework should be optional with addition enriching assignments offered as an alternative.
Yes, Thank you. My son's first grade teacher humiliates my son on a regular basis. I'm just now catching on and have an appointment with the principal. I'm not sure if any good will come out of it but I'm going in with the request for a new teacher.
I am so sorry to hear what has been done to your son; it is inexcusable. In this situation, if you can be fair and judge both sides objectively, through integrity, you will be able to do what is best for him.
From what you say, it sounds like the teacher needs supervision and therapy; but, that shouldn't be your son or the other kids' problem.
I knew you would pick up on my spelling. I did it deliberately. So typical of the idiot you are looking down from the gutter. Why even watch someone you don't like? Just to disagree with people who like his work? Go back to your captive audience you twerp. Bukowski would love your comments, so shallow, so duplicitous.
Hey man, I understand where you're coming from. What I want to point out to you is that while that dress up presentation your daughter June had to do had little relevence to the information, it was more of a fun little thing to keep students interested. I'm sure most of the students in that class really did not want to dress up, but they did anyway. It does leave a subtle message that you have to do things you don't want to in life, Explorers don't teach your daughter that.
So we are agreed on the facts that the goal of that part of the assignment was not intellectual development, but a combination of teaching conformity and obedience, and an erroneous and misguided idea that the teacher was making education FUN.
Perhaps we disagree where I would call that a bad thing and a perversion of education.
You're telling the truth. Most teachers are spiteful. I left public school a long time ago and enrolled in GED class a few years later. It was for different reasons; however, I had the same experience. I ended up scoring very high on my GED and went on to graduate college with honors.
You know that most teachers are educated. Lets teach are kids how to disrespect them instead of actually learning. Man, this video really makes me upset.
Being educated does not make one immune from criticism when one is wrong. That teachers are "educated" makes their incompetence all the more damnable. Ironically, it is epistemology, the one field of philosophy in which they should excel, where their gravest fault is found.
If this video makes you really upset, why? Do your feelings drive your understanding of external reality instead of being symptoms of your own internal conflict?
Sir, instead of talking, why not educate the teachers to talk to the parents and students on how teachers has to train parent and students on how students has GO to government about how students has to treat other students with respect.teachers joins students in making model like and popular students into cheerleaders and sports and out to be the better and teachers and parents and authority has no places or till they can learn how to do that.
As the 1st anecdote alludes, parents acting against the system endanger their children, so I could not speak out until my girls were beyond their control. Based upon my experience, public schools are founded upon the principle of force, and they do not hesitate to resort to force when challenged or questioned.
As public schools are irredeemable, my activism relates to supporting private schools developing innovative new curricula and processes based upon a proper epistemology.
You are so naive. Private schools do better because they can pick and choose who goes to them. The way you are describing your daughter, if she were in a private school, she would be kicked out within a week.
Stop blaming the public schools for your failures in life.
Learn to read and stop giving thoughtless knee-jerk cookie-cutter responses that evade the facts of reality.
I qualified which private schools based upon their methodology. One school that I am thinking about has reported significant success in rehabilitating students that were performing poorly in public schools.
My failures? Daisy choose to leave high school early, developed and executed a plan to affect this result, scored highly on her GED, and is enrolled in college. How can you misinterpret that as a failure on my or her part?
Your daughter failed because you told her that she didn't have to listen to anything that the teacher taught in class. Don't blame others because you're a fuckup and you're teaching her to be the same.
Let me restate your point more clearly and accurately, my intelligent daughter, who understood the material, and tutored her A student friends, who did not understand the material, failed in school because she would not be obedient to the thug with the club at the front of the class.
Paradoxically to your conclusion about my parenting, my other daughter, June from the first anecdote, was an A student. The difference between the two is that June was willing to play the system to get along, but Daisy had too much integrity to do so and played the system against itself.
Relative to their normally scheduled time for entering college, both my daughters will have already completed two years of college credits, and enrolled in the most selective college in the state. Do you really want to challenge me on whether I support my children's education?
Yeah, I will challenge you on how you are raising your daughter, and on how most parents raise their kids. A lot more would be taught in the classrooms if the students weren't so disruptive. How was your daughter in class? If she is anything like you are, she was probably the biggest pain in the ass.
The only time she was sent to the office was when a teacher flipped out. The teacher confronted her in front of class about missing assignments; Daisy said she would not be turning them in; the teacher escalated her threats with no impact; so, while the teacher was out-of-control, Daisy acted with integrity by refusing to lie to the teacher.
Im sure her attitude about things are that, "I'm smarter than you". In reality she found a way to slip through the system because she had her father use big words. I really dont think either of you are intelligant enough to realize that you are both idiots. Your just using the fault of one or two teachers to generalize a discription for all the other teachers who happen to be educated. In most cases a masters degree is thought of as to little of
cont. education for teachers. The Im better than you attitude that both you and your daughter are taking in life is just make your education meaningless. What a great contribution your making in society!
Actually, Daisy is undoubtedly smarter than her teachers, which is why she (getting Fs) tutored her friends (A/B students) when the teachers failed to teach them.
In escaping, Daisy used her own brain to out think the system; my contribution was to support her when it became indisputably clear that she was right.
RE: generalizing about teachers, several years ago in response to my question, June (4.0+ GPA) said that she only had three teachers in her years of public school that she respected intellectually; these teachers taught AP classes.
RE: our ignorance of our own stupidity, evidence? Your feelings? Your Rationalistic deduction from concepts without regard to reality?
My contribution to society? I owe society NO contribution; however, by my trading with others of virtue, my professional work literally impacts tens of billions of dollars and millions of people, including most of the Americans on YT.
I think you hit on an important point when you talk about an "...I'm better than you attitude..." In practice, the egalitarian nature of public school suppresses those that are better more so than to elevating the lesser.
Daisy may be better in your mind. She may be better in anybodys mind, which I doubt. My arguement is that really cant say she is better just from her lack of educate teachers. Her stupidity comes from not just doing her work proving she is smart and make the system work for her. She could have the help the smarter teaches and made something of herself. Instead she is working against the system.
If you owe society no contribution, than you live by nature and have a personality society should reject anyway. Do you really live with the type A personality? I highly dont your work impacts even the smallest pecentage of the educationally system.
I should have said your ignorance makes you look stupid. It just seems that when you give your daughter the label as genious, then she in your eyes will live up to that. It wouldnt be hard to be bias. To think that a teacher would have nothing to add to your daughters education is what makes you, at the very least, look ignorant. People can learn from anything.
Some of the most brilliant minds think around the system, I give your daughter that. When it comes to the world as a whole she maybe better than some teachers. I wouldnt agree with your assumption that she is better than most. There would be no way to even come close to a inferrence, from the small amount of teachers your daughter has had.
I based my assessment that Daisy is superior upon a measure of virtue. One of the fundamental difference between my A student and my F student is that Daisy had too much integrity to sacrifice her independent judgment to the feelings of incompetent educators.
"Her stupidity comes from not just doing her work proving she is smart and make the system work for her." What you are saying that she should have done is called granting the sanction of the victim, instead she boldly and correctly made the moral assertion that they offered her NO value, which they confessed themselves as their argument degenerated to pure threats of force.
Mighty presumptuous of you to assert yourself on behalf of society that they should reject my personality; work that thug profile. Yes, I live as an America celebrating Reason, Justice, Freedom, Production and Achievement; which, of course, the mob would reject.
"...when you give your daughter the label as genius, then she in your eyes will live up to that." You give public educators the label of competent, yet they do not live up to that. Re: Daisy, she earned that label and she has to continue to earn it; she would describe me as hard and critical of her, but fair.
"To think that a teacher would have nothing to add to your daughters education is what makes you, at the very least, look ignorant." Are you as deaf as you are dumb?
Her public school teachers in fact did not teach her, so they were fired and she higher different teachers who would in fact teach her.
Unrealized potential is NOTHING. Could they teach? In the universe of all possibilities including those that do not actually exist, yes. But would they actually in fact provide value comparable to the cost to her as an individual, no.
Regarding her superiority to the vast majority to public school teachers, would you concede to point in light of statistical data demonstrating that the academically weakest college students go into the field of education? If so, I will pull the references that economist Walter Williams cited to demonstrate this fact. But, you will have to agree to read the studies and understand the data, then correct your error.
Interesting.......But surely your contribution should have been to teach her the value of compromise as opposed to the value of outright rebellion? I merely say this because the most valuable piece of advice I ever learnt was to "learn the theory before you consider breaking it", and daisy could perhaps out thought the system by being an indisputable A grade student: that would possibly have yielded a different, more reasonable reaction from teachers. And I speak as someone who has also ...
taught my fellow students. Sometimes it is better to accept certain elements of school etc as unpleasant but neccessary, I know I did concerning subjects like Maths.
NB: there should be a "have" inserted in my previous comment, I think it should be obvious where, sorry!
i agree with you my school is doing nothing to help me get the extra help ive been begging for

WTF!!?!

My high school the teachers dont care if you swear or anything...there is no disapline..which i dont care but as a student im spose to hate my teachers, yet i only hate my science one, laungage (For good reason), my OLD pdhpe teacher, my OLD maths teacher and the librarian...By old i mean used to be my teacher but now isnt..Its like they went to the carnival and said ''Lets find the most iritating people we find and make them teachers''.
masterassassin7 9 months ago
I strongly agree. Most of the public teachers in schools are idiots! They act like they know History, Biology, Physics, etc., but they actually get the steps and answers from a book that is hidden from the students. In fact, my old high school Geometry teacher, "Ms. Leuturio" acted like she knows everything about Geometry, but ironically, she actually got the answers from the teacher's book.

Ha I agree. But public school teachers in Mississippi are the worst. My school is a joke.

Do not overestimate their honesty; they have the guns and aren't afraid to use them.
Public school teachers are the children of Karl Mannheim, who can evade any facts while holding themselves true to ideology.
jwoodswce 11 months ago

@arkee71
Further, Daisy is developing plans for converting her short business experience into her own entrepreneurial venture.
jwoodswce 1 year ago
cont...
In the context of her success in the real world including significant responsibility and leadership, would you care to hypothesize about how public school teachers alienated her superior intellect? Note: it was a big deal because the teachers were wasting Daisy's time, which was more valuable to her.
jwoodswce 1 year ago
@jwoodswce im sorry perhaps i was being to harsh and sending you the wrong impression..i also had unusually high scores in school as i was artistic...and the system isnt geared for people who are superior or inferior for that matter..and this needs to change..but my point is ..who is to judge whats a waste of time ? you..maybe dressing up would have been an artistic outlet for her...and perhaps fun
arkee71 1 year ago
@arkee71
"who is to judge what’s a waste of time?"
Under free association, it is a mutual agreement between the service provider and the customers, in this case the parents. However, under public education, it is solely the choice of majority whim or bureaucratic fiat enforced by legal compulsion.
In the case of older kids, parents should take substantial input from them as part of the maturation process.
jwoodswce 1 year ago
@jwoodswce i certainly see your point..but thats the system..if you disagree with the curriculum then you have a right to protest and/or fight them through various avenues set up for that purpose...staging a rebellion over every trivial issue that you happen to disagree with is counterproductive in the sense that the your daughter being bored for a bit isnt nearly as damaging to her as the damage that would be done by denying the other children a means to effectively learn about history
arkee71 1 year ago
@arkee71
My kids are now out of public school so I don’t need to waste time trying to change the system from within. Attempting to work within this system is a waste of effort; parents should instead selfishly focus upon their own kids. However, I can work to build an alternative system for my own profit and the benefit of my clients to the extent that it is permitted by law, which imposes a significant entry barrier via compliance requirements.
jwoodswce 1 year ago
@jwoodswce at the same time..you speak of threatening behavior exhibited towards the children instilling in them fear of authority...now this i am in total agreement with you on...this should not be tolerated ..and should be fought diligently against by caring parents like yourself...for that i commend you sir..and ill fight right with you
arkee71 1 year ago
@arkee71
"...threatening behavior exhibited towards the children..."
That is not an accident, but a predictable consequence of basing education upon compulsion. If you want to get violence out of schools, the first place to start is by removing the government from education.
Cooperative action occurs in the civil society outside of government.

What will you say then?
alicekinnian 2 years ago
Ex-act-ly.

You do have to be carefuly in being critical of authority figures in your child's life though because they are not old enough to distinguish between why you should respect some authority figures and not others. This comment reminds me of a conversation I heard between teachers at a restaurant, in which, one teacher was bragging about putting a parent in their proper subservient place.

There is a big difference between my dentist and most public school teachers, the former is competent.

Teachers moan that if only they were given more power and could utilize more force then things would get better (ex. mandatory pre-K and mandatory community service, and higher salaries to reward their failures).
Most public school teachers do not introspect, check their premises, and realize that the cause of failure stares them in the mirror every morning.

silvertears63 3 years ago

I had some brilliant teachers... and I had some horrible ones. Unfortunately, the horrible ones were my math and science teachers :-/
But, I don't know much about private schools... I hope they're better. I think the American educational system is way too lenient and lacks, anyway.
si96 3 years ago

Unfortunately, public colleges have so corrupted the education of future educators that even private schools are undermined.
Fortunately, exception individuals, like Lisa Van Damme, have been developing objectively correct methods of education as a cure to the current two defective schools of thought on the subject.

Education and knowledge are an essential value to one's life.
If you have been denied this value by public education, compulsory attendance, and confiscatory taxation, then don't lay down and accept it.
I don't know your circumstances, but there are ways to beat the system without hurting yourself and your future. Consider talking seriously with your parent(s).
jwoodswce 3 years ago
I think you misunderstood. I just want the school to loose money. I'm fact making the Honor roll, and very pro-education, it's just the school dose not do a very good job all the time so by failing our NCLB (No-Child Left Behind) assessments(The assessments that decide federal school funding), so by purposely failing these, means the school gets less money.
imanerd36 3 years ago
Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad to hear that you are successful, so that when your indenture to the teachers' unions expires then you will be free and able to pursue your own goals.
Please remember the schools and teachers have governmental force at their disposal and will not hesitate to use it to destroy a student's life, so don't go out of your way to antagonize them as they may inflict a price.

kneltdark 3 years ago
K,
If the teacher used the detention time to teach the missed material, then you should be grateful because that was a good teacher; but if detention was shut up and shut down time, then that teacher was incompetent.
I think that anyone that gets a D or F on a test should have mandatory after school detention to review the missed material. Further, for anyone that gets an A on the test, subsequent homework should be optional with addition enriching assignments offered as an alternative.

R,
So we are agreed on the facts that the goal of that part of the assignment was not intellectual development, but a combination of teaching conformity and obedience, and an erroneous and misguided idea that the teacher was making education FUN.

Yes.
In general, I plan more story videos.
Re: Education, I have two specific positive ideas planned:
1) Proper Testing Methods (based upon my experience satisfying my fine arts credit), and
2) Individualization of Assignments and Evaluations (based upon my experience with my mentor in college)

You know that most teachers are educated. Lets teach are kids how to disrespect them instead of actually learning. Man, this video really makes me upset.
garapanman 4 years ago
G,
Being educated does not make one immune from criticism when one is wrong.

DMFL68,
As the 1st anecdote alludes, parents acting against the system endanger their children, so I could not speak out until my girls were beyond their control. Based upon my experience, public schools are founded upon the principle of force, and they do not hesitate to resort to force when challenged or questioned.
As public schools are irredeemable, my activism relates to supporting private schools developing innovative new curricula and processes based upon a proper epistemology.
jwoodswce 4 years ago
You are so naive. Private schools do better because they can pick and choose who goes to them. The way you are describing your daughter, if she were in a private school, she would be kicked out within a week.
Stop blaming the public schools for your failures in life.
sfldd 4 years ago 2
Learn to read and stop giving thoughtless knee-jerk cookie-cutter responses that evade the facts of reality.
I qualified which private schools based upon their methodology. One school that I am thinking about has reported significant success in rehabilitating students that were performing poorly in public schools.

My failures? Daisy choose to leave high school early, developed and executed a plan to affect this result, scored highly on her GED, and is enrolled in college. How can you misinterpret that as a failure on my or her part?
jwoodswce 4 years ago
Your daughter failed because you told her that she didn't have to listen to anything that the teacher taught in class. Don't blame others because you're a fuckup and you're teaching her to be the same.
sfldd 4 years ago 2
Sfldd,
Let me restate your point more clearly and accurately, my intelligent daughter, who understood the material, and tutored her A student friends, who did not understand the material, failed in school because she would not be obedient to the thug with the club at the front of the class.
jwoodswce 4 years ago

Paradoxically to your conclusion about my parenting, my other daughter, June from the first anecdote, was an A student. The difference between the two is that June was willing to play the system to get along, but Daisy had too much integrity to do so and played the system against itself.

Relative to their normally scheduled time for entering college, both my daughters will have already completed two years of college credits, and enrolled in the most selective college in the state. Do you really want to challenge me on whether I support my children's education?
jwoodswce 4 years ago
Yeah, I will challenge you on how you are raising your daughter, and on how most parents raise their kids. A lot more would be taught in the classrooms if the students weren't so disruptive. How was your daughter in class? If she is anything like you are, she was probably the biggest pain in the ass.
sfldd 4 years ago
My kids are two years ahead of their college bound peers, what is your problem with that? Not succumbing to mediocrity?
Daisy was well behaved, and teachers commented on how she would be quietly reading to herself during class.
jwoodswce 4 years ago

The only time she was sent to the office was when a teacher flipped out. The teacher confronted her in front of class about missing assignments; Daisy said she would not be turning them in; the teacher escalated her threats with no impact; so, while the teacher was out-of-control, Daisy acted with integrity by refusing to lie to the teacher.
jwoodswce 4 years ago
Damn, your daughter has some guts! I wish I had talked to my teachers like that.
nine9s 4 years ago
Im sure her attitude about things are that, "I'm smarter than you". In reality she found a way to slip through the system because she had her father use big words. I really dont think either of you are intelligant enough to realize that you are both idiots. Your just using the fault of one or two teachers to generalize a discription for all the other teachers who happen to be educated. In most cases a masters degree is thought of as to little of

cont. education for teachers. The Im better than you attitude that both you and your daughter are taking in life is just make your education meaningless. What a great contribution your making in society!
garapanman 4 years ago
G,
Actually, Daisy is undoubtedly smarter than her teachers, which is why she (getting Fs) tutored her friends (A/B students) when the teachers failed to teach them.

Yes, Daisy is better than her teachers and based upon your comments she is exceedingly better than you as well.
jwoodswce 4 years ago
Daisy may be better in your mind. She may be better in anybodys mind, which I doubt. My arguement is that really cant say she is better just from her lack of educate teachers. Her stupidity comes from not just doing her work proving she is smart and make the system work for her. She could have the help the smarter teaches and made something of herself. Instead she is working against the system.
garapanman 4 years ago
If you owe society no contribution, than you live by nature and have a personality society should reject anyway. Do you really live with the type A personality? I highly dont your work impacts even the smallest pecentage of the educationally system.
garapanman 4 years ago
I should have said your ignorance makes you look stupid. It just seems that when you give your daughter the label as genious, then she in your eyes will live up to that. It wouldnt be hard to be bias. To think that a teacher would have nothing to add to your daughters education is what makes you, at the very least, look ignorant. People can learn from anything.
garapanman 4 years ago
Some of the most brilliant minds think around the system, I give your daughter that. When it comes to the world as a whole she maybe better than some teachers. I wouldnt agree with your assumption that she is better than most. There would be no way to even come close to a inferrence, from the small amount of teachers your daughter has had.
garapanman 4 years ago
G,
I based my assessment that Daisy is superior upon a measure of virtue. One of the fundamental difference between my A student and my F student is that Daisy had too much integrity to sacrifice her independent judgment to the feelings of incompetent educators.
jwoodswce 4 years ago

But, you will have to agree to read the studies and understand the data, then correct your error.
jwoodswce 4 years ago
Interesting.......But surely your contribution should have been to teach her the value of compromise as opposed to the value of outright rebellion? I merely say this because the most valuable piece of advice I ever learnt was to "learn the theory before you consider breaking it", and daisy could perhaps out thought the system by being an indisputable A grade student: that would possibly have yielded a different, more reasonable reaction from teachers. And I speak as someone who has also ...
