  • great video man! Im getting this specially since its 50% off right now, I have a d7000 I wish i can afford a d700 to avoid this noise

  • This is an excellent video, thank you. Very well explained, and clear. Thanks again.

  • Awesome. Thanks for this - useful stuff, for sure :O)

  • watching this in 720p and full screen really shows hows those edits really improved the photos! great!

  • Not sure if anyone else said it, but that shot of the drink is amazing!

And thanks for the tutorial. I'm no longer scared to up my ISO :D

  • you can get iso 25,600 with a canon eos550d. look up magic lantern , its a software thing that goes on your memory card.

they have lots of different cameras it fits.

    Its a freebie as well.

    Worth looking at.

  • How can we Shoot in RAW or have a photo in RAW like with an editing program or whatever ..?

  • @LeJeuneAnatoh its a setting in your dslr. you have to set your camera to shoot in raw.

  • @choeater ah okay, thank you, but my camera doesn't have it .. :)

  • Did you use ISO800 to take the last picture just to show the noise or was it for a different reason?

  • nice tut man get demonstrations LR3 rocks

  • this video changed my life. no joke. good looking out!

  • Brill video your great at explaining

  • great video keep up the good work.

  • shooting RAW is better for post

  • OMG U SAVED MY LIFE MAN! I was about to get a camera that can handle noise in a better way! Now i saved money by getting lightroom 3 HAHA! Subbed! <3

  • thnx ;)

  • thumbs up if you get lightroom and its not useful for normal people :P

  • informative!!! good job!

  • grab a tripod....turn that iso down...i always keep my iso at 100 even in dark shit...i just carry a tripod

  • ISO set at 6400? thats crazy!

  • @Sidowse yeah I do that too...all the time

  • @Sidowse: Not on a D700 it's not. D700 is crazy at how well it handles high ISOs. 6400 would be crazy if it was on a D90 though for sure :O)

  • @Sidowse Yeah dude. Sony's new A77 has a Twilight mode where it shoots at ISO 16,000. Yes, I put the comma in the correct place. But what it does is takes 6 images at that ISO and since noise is random, it replaces pixels as it needs to from those 6 exposures, and creates one clear image in very low light. Just an amazing tid-bit about ISO's, not comparing Sony to whatever...just kind of a cool feature.

  • I appreciate the effort, but I think perhaps you want to develop a deeper understanding of what the tools do on a more technical level in LR before making a tutorial video. The 'details' tool preserves details you say? I'm not sure there is anything to be gained from this video that 5 minutes messing around with the sliders in LR wouldn't get you.

  • I want to make a landscape photo look more crisp and sharp. I am a newb when it comes to Lightroom, have you uploaded any vids or some tutorials?

  • GREAT explanation on the noise features. I've been using Ltrm3 for it's noise reduction for awhile now, but have been guessing at those features. I knew they worked- but I wasn't sure just exactly what was going on. Especially the Detail and Contrast. Thanks for the clarity!

  • You did very well explaining this. I got this software today so I am very excited to see how simple you made it. Thank you!

  • Thank you for your excellent video

  • good video thanks for sharing

  • good video thanks for sharing

  • Hi,

Here we are almost a year later. I am using LR3.3. Camera is a Nikon D3X. I fight noise all the time it seems. After seeing your video, I'm going to start using LR for NR. But I wanted to ask you about the area to the right of the cocktail glass. There's what I consider a big chunk of noise that you don't address. It's the reddish-brown horizontal in the background. Is that because you don't consider that noise? Maybe I'm obsessing over this too much.

    I appreciate your help.

  • @dahevia 0/10

  • That was helpful

  • I don't have Beta 2. Mine just says Lightroom 3. I can't find the noise reduction table. Do you know where it is of if this version has one??

  • awesome! i've got cannon eos kiss x3 and i have lightroom im so happy i got canon like 6 days ago

  • Great tutorial on noise reduction. You explained it very clearly. Thanks. Helped me out a bunch.

  • Download adobe lightroom 3.0 now sharecash (dot) org / download (dot) php?file=1421964 (serial key is included on the Self Extracting tool, size 60 MB)

  • Nice tutorial. I want to know, now that I have Lightroom 3.2, does it's noise reduction in this version eliminate the need for Topaz or Nik software noise reducers? I could save a lot of money with not having to buy those plug-ins. I want to learn HDR using a Nikon D80 and some nice lens.

  • Thanks for your nice tutorial

  • thx

  • will this feature replace my noise ninja?

  • Has anyone had issues with exporting the noise reduction adjustments from Lightroom 3? After I make the changes in Lightroom & export the new jpg file, I notice that the image appears sharper than it did when I made the changes in Lightroom. Almost as if my noise reduction adjustments were discarded upon export. Thank you in advance for the feedback!

  • Thanks , this helped me a lot. Nice tuto.

  • Is that only for Raw images or does noise reduction work with jpg also?

  • @andreo noise reduction will work for JPEG too, but you'll get a better quality out of a RAW image...

  • @BustedShutter donde estan los tutos en espñol de este programita es el primero que veo queno he encontrado en todo you tube un solo video en espñol de este preograma!!! aaa buen video:)

  • hi,,,excuse me, im just new about this,,what do you mean by raw images...

  • @princedien A raw image is an uncompressed image. Your average point and shoot will take a picture and process it in the camera. There are some modifications that you can make to the photo, but they are somewhat limited. A raw photo takes exactly what the sensor picked up and dumps it on the memory card. Then later you would go in and adjust things in the picture such as white balance, color temperature and so on.

  • fyi: lightyear is actually a measure of distance not time

  • Good stuff

  • i was using too noise ninja

  • hooo wow....tankss amigo

  • why i didn't have access to the Detail, and Contrast ? I have the final version

  • Very informative video. I just started using Lightroom a few months ago since the beta was free. Now I see what what all the fuss was about! I'll still always use Photoshop for more serious post processing, but I'll always start by developing my raws in Lightroom. The noise reduction really is great for me too since the GF1 really isn't the best in that regard. With a little work though Lightroom can clean up those files nicely.

  • Awesome! Love the tutorial. Did you end up buying LR 3?

  • nice tutorial.. playing with LR3 beta and defintely love the noise reduction feature.

  • Extremely well made video -- clear and easy to understand. Thanks.

  • Finely in English jez.

  • a great video well done

  • fantastic man, love your work. Keep it up!!

  • Cool!

Not sure if you said, but where'd you get LR3? Just download from the website??

  • indeed...the Beta is currently a free download....just search google for it and you'll find it...it will be from an Adobe website..

  • can't really see the difference on youtube, nice video, good to know about this feature :)

  • @dandt87 maybe youtube hasn't finished processing the vid yet...i just watched it in HD at 720p and I can see the difference pretty clearly...thanks for watching!

  • yes, the HD version was not up at the time i was watching it, I can see the difference now, thanks for the reply

  • @dandt87 If you up the res on youtube from 360p to 720p and go full screen you can see the difference.

  • @dandt87 true
