Everybody attacks her for not being successful in the movies after she left. But, I must say none of the original cast members have done a great movie carrier , but George. And in this condition, he's like an exception, than the rule. Only a few actors make a great carrier after leaving TV shows. George is just one of them. That's a very rare thing. So , don't attack her . She's always been in history as Carol
Sherry left ER for deeper personal reasons then a relationship...however the birth of her daughter phoebe back in 2001 fueled her desire to get back into character as susan lewis. julianna left for her own reasons...money isn't everything guys. acting is a job, and sometimes a break is good.
By the way, before I'm attacked with a barrrage of 'thumbs-downs' and random profane insults, I actually like Julianna very much...and I do think she's currently doing some Broadway work...I just think she threw away an incredible opportunity and likely regretted it. If she's not that interested in fame or fortune, then more power to her. I just don't want her heading down the Shelley Long highway-suicide attempts, severe depression, etc. I wish her only the best.
Julianna Margulies: poster child for the 'What Was I Thinking?' organization...gives up a $50 K contract to pursue a big film career...that never happens. She and Shelley Long must attend the same support group meetings.
And an appearance on the excruciating 'Howie Mandel Show'? Prophetic , to put it mildly.
Did she end up 'playing' in Paris and London, I have to wonder?
Yeah, i know it was stratospheric., songnight. And she acknowledged she'd made a colossal mistake later. I wonder if any of my thumbs-downers have seen 'Looking for Debra Winger' (maybe it was 'Searching...') produced by Rosanna Arquette?
songnight, I don't remember if it was in that documentary that she expressed regret, but I have read her lamentations in certain interviews. The focus in the 'Debra Winger' doc is on what happens to actresses as they age. The typical shift, of course, is from films to TV roles (cont'd)...
And I did get the predicted thumbs-downs ! Doesn't bother me...my comments were partially tongue-in-cheek, and referenced an obscure SNL skit in which celebrities whose stardom careens downhill after bad decisions. I think she would have become even more well-known and respected if she'd gone with the contract. It's her life, obvioiusly. Sherry Stringfield is another good example: left ER while at the 'top of her game' to be with a man who ended up leaving her, then came back...
no, i do agree w u. i adore julianna & sherry (susan, doug &carol are my ER faves), but i think it was somewhat careless for sherry & julianna to throw away such success for the sake of dabbling in other things...but to be fair to them,no one can predict where life will take u ie they didnt have the benefit of retrospection
100% agreed, freakyobsessed. I've spent enough time in L.A. over the years to see the ruthless phoniness of it all, and though I love drama and comedy, I would never put myself in the courageous spot these women do. I also have a friend who's a beautiful, talented comedienne really struggling-probably because she's over 35 and not a size 0. Just brutal! I hope aspiring actresses learn from the wisdom these women offer that being an idealist sadly, simply doesn't pay off in Hollywood...
true.clooney had good foresight in that way. he stayed on ER until he was certain he had made a proper name for himself on the big screen,so that if movies didnt work out,he could still revert back to ER
lol i luv how she says "its true! they are an item!!" lmao

She passed on a $27 million 3-year contract when she left.

Was she in that? Cool, gotta rent it.
I didn't know she admitted she'd made a mistake; at the time I recall how crestfallen I was that she left. I think she's a beautiful, gifted actress.

And when she did, the chemistry was simply gone. She's never really bounced back, either.
I think Julianna is beautiful and gifted too...and I also think she significantly limited her potential by walking away from that contract.
You really should see the documentary. It's wonderful-sad, brutally honest , but wonderful.
By the way, I am a word nerd and must salute you on the use of 'crestfallen'-love that word-we need more YouTubers who can write like you!
