Creating a Website using NVU or Kompozer (Part 1 of 3)

this is my IT homework, to create a website using Kompozer and I'm totally ignorant in these things :D thank you sooo much for making this toturial. It's really easy to understand and very helpful ^^

I used Adobe Illustrator. Photoshop would work too. GIMP is free and that would work just fine too.

I can't speak for NVU, but avoid Kompozer (right now atleast). I've yet to edit a page in Kompozer that it hasn't completely destroyed. Removes my formatting, breaks CSS, auto-edits HTML tags and the list goes on and on.

I can't seem to be able to change the font colour with nuv. Do know why it might not be allowing to change my font colour? Am I doing something wrong?

hi, great video, very helpful but could you please help me with one thing? When I create a "get instant access" button in GIMP and then get it in NVU for some reason I can't upload it via FileZilla onto my webpage. Only a small text "get instant access" gets uploaded with no, rather nice, button. Thanks a lot and a happy new year.

Not sure. Is the program closed? Did you save it as a jpg or png? Other than that I really don't know.

@brianrehmann I saved it as PNG, that didn't seem to work, so I saved is as jpg and that doesn't seem to work either..........what do you mean by closed? thank you anyway

Is GIMP closed? Or whatever program you are using.  Other than that I'm not much help.

Using tables for page structure was the way to make web pages BEFORE CSS. Now this practice is discouraged. The advantage though is that it works with older browsers like Internet Explorer 6 (which tears CSS apart.) As IE 6 fades, tables will not be the way to go. Use div tags to divide the page as needed, then use CSS.

Your video has helped me A LOT, but I've run into a problem that you didn't touch on. I'm putting videos on my website, and I don't want to Embed from Youtube... How do I upload videos onto Nvu WITHOUT using Youtube Embedding?

one of the better if not the best Nvu tutorials out there. There was another one that was informative as well but he went so slow and his voice put me to sleep.

You know what you're doing and seem to be able to explain step by step without rushing but also without being as slow as a snail.

Cool tips on the tables, I forgot about putting a table in a table to make it more structured. Thanks for the refresher.

Hi Brian. I love the tut on Nvu. I just started using it. How did you get that space between your banner table and the button table to disappear? I followed along and cant' seem to get that space to disappear. I have all padding and spacing at zero now. Any idea?

@Gimpster2k Yes you can. Underneath youtube video descriptions, there's a button that says "Embed"... I don't know how to add it into Nvu, but you can search "Nvu Youtube Embedding Tutorial" to find out how

I am having problems with Nvu. When I upload my photo images, They look great on my Nvu webpage and html

page. But after a hour or so, the images do not show any more . Some is causing them to be blocked.

Help!!

Make sure all of you images are in the same folder as your html document. Also make sure your picture names do not have any spaces in them. Hope that helps.
