"gentle cats" the reason they are so endangered is a two part reason. 1 - poachers, 2 - even the leading experts can barely get these cats to mate in captivity b/c they are so aggressive. the last time it happened it took two years for them to finally mate. the male killed his first 2 partners, and on the third partner, the female killed her entire brood of young. two years after THAT 3 more were born that survived. so really it took about 5 years
