It's a damn good martial arts movie and a faithful translation of the video games to the big screen. While cheesy at times, so are the games but in a good way. I enjoyed the fight sequences in the movie, the Liu Kang/Reptile and Johnny Cage/Scorpion fight scenes were sick! The other fights throughout the film such as Liu Kang against Shang Tsung, Sub-Zero, and Kitana were all great. The only weak fight in the movie is between Sonya and Kano but aside from that, it's a fun ride.
Throughout this movie I did not feel as though Christopher Lambert was speaking English as a second language. Guess that makes him a decent linguist :)

They keep pushing it back. We have no news on the next movie at all either. And now that Midway was sold from Redstone Ed Boon has a lot more to worry about. Ever since MKA Mortal Kombat media has been destroyed!

@Templayer I saw the clip a few days ago with Michael Jai White(of Spawn fame ) playing the role of Jax it's actually a test run movie they put up on youtube sort of an alternate version of MK characters all the more reason for an Japanese studio like Madhouse or Gonzo to do an anime adaptation have you seen the recent anime trailer Redline done by Madhouse?

It's almost like if they did give a gun to Harry Potter, because it would be more "real". I seriously hate real things, and i love sci-fi and fantasy, so for me, they are screwing with Mortal Kombat. If they do it in that way, then i'm never going to see it. What's with the originality nowadays ?!?!??!? Are all the producers and filmmakers lacking it, wanting just to gross more money ??!!??! I'm going to write the first three scripts after I complete their treatments, so I will have the first one done and possibly the other two finished or close to it before I get a studio to look at it. I'm so determined for this, I'll even settle for an all cgi movie, like Beowulf.

I did see some clips of the new mortal kombat film, they killed the third one even more.
Baraka is a doctor who did cut himself and attached blades to himself...
