While I can appreciate the incredible amount of talent and dedication that goes in to a portrait of this standard, and am stunned by the meticulous details included, I kind of feel that when you reach this level of realism, you may as well just take a photo. The portrait loses its style and individuality and becomes an exercise in recreating real life, which to me isn't what art is about. However, I know this view isn't shared by all, and I'm not aiming to offend anyone, just sharing my opinion.

wow very nice, its crazy how detailed you start painting from the start, knew right away you really have to be experienced! I'm still a beginner, have to do a nose like, 5/6 times to get it right, just for scetching only. I love the shadowing and highlights, my favorite part of the work done. I wonder if you drew this out of your head, some people can do that, a gift i don't have unfortunatly.

Whenever I try to draw a black part, (like the hat in your case), the brush places the whole oil at the first touch of paper, and then it is too concentrated and i cannot blend that ... I can see on your site that you also use domestic sewing machine lubricating oil. Is that the key ? Thank you
