You wrote: "Beer and Alcoholic beverages relax your vocal cords making it easier to sing or scream and growl."
Well, don't know if that's true for the growl (never tried), but for singing, I personnally think it just destroys your voice haha! I never sing after I had a beer or two, it's just impossible to reach the high notes ;) (I'm taking singing lessons for 5 years now, but I just can't manage it once I had a beer).
(I have to write my comment in two parts, as it is too long for youtube xD)
I just have a question (english isn't my mothertongue, so I didn't understand everything you said) : what I didn't get is whether you use the diaphragm the same way as for singing ? I mean, like the open throat-thorax+diaphragm technique ?
@YelwaFaelnirv Yes, you do use your diaphragm for singing too, but I don't think you need to push from your diaphragm super hard like you would for death metal vocals.
hey man remember me, you helped on my journey to becoming a better vocalist and since the last time we spoke ive put up a few songs of me doing my thing...its only right you watch my newest song and tell me how im getting along :) and to anyone else who will listen to it your feedback will be much appreciated :)
@MetalSk8Shred the real problem is not how to pronounce it but how to do it sustainably and how to avoid straining your larynx, evem when you put your diaphram into it, even the abominable putridity vocalist quit because his larynx had it.
@nounever Yes, gutturals are pretty close to impossible to pronounce things clearly and understandable. Sounds exaggerated by saying "close to impossible" but it's true! If you want monsterous/beastly gutturals, you'll most likely have to sacrifice pronunciation. If you want pronunciation, you have to sacrifice some of the monster/beastly sound! But there is that spot you get get in between to where it's still moderatley monster/beast and understanding, but it's personal preference.
@KristijanBenic If it is hurting you just upon doing it, you might be doing something wrong, but if it only hurts you like 10 or 15 minutes after doing it, it just means your body is still having to get used to the technique. It used to hurt me like after 10 to 15 minutes but now, there's no pain. When it hurts, give yourself a break untill the pain is completely gone. Ignore the pain and continue, then you'll mess something up. Keep practicing man!
I don't get this stuff, dude. There is no phonetic quality to it what-so-ever. What's the purpose of lyrics if you can't discern whether the vocals you're hearing are even a language, or just 'pig sounds'. Kerry King said it best: " We (Slayer) try not to cross the line between extremely fast, and just plain silly".Death/grind core crosses that line, to the point where there's no groove anymore. Many Death and Grind core bands are very talented, however I'll never understand that kind of music.
@pillsareyummy I do actually agree with you there, but I still enjoy the music, however. I think it's still badass and I enjoy all types of metal. I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to music. I think in brutal death metal and death core and stuff like that, when you hear the vocals, it's not very understandable, but still enjoyable to listen to, same things with opera and classical sining: sometimes almost not able to understand, but still enjoyable to listen to. =)
@MetalSk8Shred I have to ask you something.I can do a growl really good, and it doesn't hurt,so does that mean that i can't mess up my throat in any way?
@MikyWrita To be honest man, I wouldn't know 100%. But I've been doing these kind of vocals for two years and my voice hasn't been damaged or any different than it was before I started. And there are excellent vocalists out there that have been doing it for 20 years or more and they can still do them! So I'm pretty much positive that if you're doing it with no pain, there are no worries. I do them just fine and they are loud as fuck. (Gutturals aren't as loud) but no pain or damage.
You don't understand how beautiful aggression can sound like in a form of music so that's where your opinion comes from. However some bands do write awesome thoughtful lyrics that the listeners should in my opinion be able to hear more easily when sung, without reading the lyrics beforehand. But of course there's a big variety in metal vocals too, not all of them are death metal like squeals and screams.
@rololoo "You don't understand how beautiful aggression can sound like in a form of music so that's where your opinion comes from." You should read my post again. I do like aggressive music ( I spoke of Slayer in my comment because I'm a huge fan, well at least their older material). However, with that being said, I wouldn't say that aggressive music is "beautiful";exciting, perhaps even epic (at times), however beautiful, well... Although, many heavy songs do have interludes that contain beauty.
Well, I've found beauty in e.g. non-harmony. Maybe it's just the certain type of metal that I find "beautiful" (not speaking of some gay nu-metal). You won't find that in thrash metal for instance. I don't know.
@pillsareyummy its not beautiful its powerful and invigorates your body and brings out your primal side. this is the beauty of this music. but its not beautiful.
@NenX11 Well when you're new at it (Or if you're new at it) it can sound like anything. Just make sure to practice as much as possible. Make sure you use the diaphragm. stay relaxed as possible and just... Well, keep practicing!
what if you smoke alot?can that damage your vocal abilities?....my mates say i sound pretty good on growls(especially after a beer and i mean it ) but i dont know im not that satisfied with it....i would like your oppinion on this...should i post an audio or something?
@gheale I've heard people say they can do Metal vocals better after smoking, but I would HIGHLY suggest that you never smoke. It has a long term effect on your voice and over time, completely inable you to do anything Vocal or Singing wise. And shorten your life span lol. But I can't tell you how you're supposed to live your life.
But if you do smoke, just keep it at a more moderate level.
Beer and Alcoholic beverages relax your vocal cords making it easier to sing or scream and growl.
@MetalSk8Shred i'm young. but i smoke alot. i have been practicing cookie cutter death metal vox for a while and i still can't seem to broaden my sound.
do you have any tips in improving the overall depth of your growls... i'm not talking about pitchwise on an octave scale depth. i can sound like corpsegrinder and the dude from prostitute disfigurement for a limited time and then they just sound weaker and emptyer. .. if u get what i mean,
@bearblaster420 For depth in sound. Hm well I know when I wasn't getting a good sound or any depth, if I know what you're talking about, I just did my vocals louder, as far as False Cord vocals go. False Cord sounds very much better when done loud. Like when you get angry at something and you let out an "UHG" and you get that vibration. Just make that like ten times luder and it will sound alot better.
@bearblaster420 Now with Smoking. After you have smoked for a long time, I know it reduces breath presuure, so that can explain why you lose stamina. And I know when I was first learning, I'd start losing ability to sound good after about 10 or 15 minutes of practice. And smoking does have an effect to the vocal cords. But I'd say just keep practicing and possibly just moderate how much you smoke. I know that is a very hard thing for smokers to do, but I will help your vocals out.
@metalsk8shred no offence mate but saying that deathcore bands... make a bree sound when they pig squeal.. is completely... wrooooooong!!!!!! only mainstream shit squealers do like those inhaling fucks job for a cowboy look at my 23 great pig squeals vid and listen to the first band no bree sound at all extreme pig squeal then listen to the song i killed everyong god forgives i don't during the first 1:30 they start doing good pig squeals more of a reeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr sound not bree
@razorguitar777 I won't fight your opinion on pig squeals because... Well it's your opinion, that would be stupid to fight. But there are few Deathmetal bands that pig squeal, like Putrid Pile. I know putrid pile is sorta GoreGrind but yeah. And Brutal Death Metal will Pig squeal every now and then. Not too many Death Metal bands pig squeal, but they're out there and that doesn't mean they aren't True Death Metal cause they throw them in there =P
@MetalSk8Shred i just think its ridculous you know? death metal used to pride its self on talent, but pig squeals dont take any effort, i remember the first time i heard one, i laughed, tried it, and mastered it. guttural vocals and shrieks take alot of talent. and i appreciate that you werent a dick about what i said, thankyou for not being a shit face bitch haha.
@razorguitar777 dude i hope your not dissin on the inhale pig squeal, cuz it actually does take some skill to get the perfect inhale squeal, which is in brutal death metal, check Amagortis. and dont tell me i dont kno DM cuz i basically just listen to the original late early 90s dm like CC, suffocation, deicide, and all that good shiiiit haha, but amagortis sounds Badass lol.
@razorguitar777 pig squeals aren't hard??? ok mate listen to the first band on my video 23 great pig squeals (bermuda loose lips) do the vocal better or the same good and post it if you can't than shut your fucking mouth because proper pig squeals are hard
@razorguitar777 Hahaha No problem. I respect your opinion, for we all have on =P. But Pig squeals are actually alot easier than gutturals and high screams for me too.
@razorguitar777 mate you think pig squeals are shit!!!!!! there only shit if you sound liek job for a cowboy watch my video 23 great pig squeals you'll see how good they really are
@razorguitar777 mate you think pig squeals are shit!!!!!! there only shit if you sound liek job for a cowboy watch my video 23 great pig squeals you'll see how good they really are they only suck if you inhale or if your shit at pig squealing like 98% of bands but my video shows some bands that are good at it alot of them have a low gutteral sound in there pig squeals makes it more brutal
@MetalSk8Shred Well Idk really it varies from how well i breathe the false chords i do take strength and shit and the fry screams just i open my air way more than i need to and even then it still sounds like false chord but i still need A LOT of practice
@chaoticdoom666 Yeah this shit deffinitely doesn't come over night. I learned that the hard way lol. Just remember that False Cord feels alot different and it's naturally alot louder than Fry vocals.
@MetalSk8Shred Ikr dude it took me like 3 months to figure out how to get the brutal pig squeal down! xD i was like (breathe) MEEEMEMEMEMEEEEMEMEMEEEEEEE S.O.B.!!! then like 2 months later i was doing it again and then i was like :O jesus christ i can do that and i'm turning 15 and can do this xD
@chaoticdoom666 Oh damn you're young lol. Well that's good cause when you're 19-20, you'll be alot better than I am right now. But yeah dude, anything vocally takes sooo much practice before you start getting a good sound!
Thank you man! ill be sure to take your advice on this death metal vocals thing. the nxt time i practice vocals in my car n yea. i listen to almost all types of metal like TDWP,AA, SS, Whitechapel, Chelsea Grin, BMTH (dont troll) and etc. im already getting my death growls down just the pig squeals and guttoral's again thanks!
@GhostMan1408 That's great dude! and I'm glad I could help. And I'm not gonna troll you for what you listen to cause that is just your personal taste in music! =P
man you scared me to death with: "DO NOT let all the air gush out, it can lead to having your vocal cords slam against each other aggressively and over time, and surgery." i will just try to somehow not end up in surgery
@Zardikar94 I'm actually slightly wrong about that. But you still don't want to let all the air out too fast because you'll only have like a 2 second growl and you can't say any long sentances. The more air/breath pressure you apply, the louder, more powerful and more distorted it will sound, and that's a good thing.
@RandomJon082 Huh... I've never thought of that hahahaha. But it's easy to get to, but that still takes practice to get a good sound and I'm glad I could be help! \m/
@henryeverhart To be honest, I could only inhale growl and pigsqueal at first, but ofcourse it hurt for me really bad, so I just sat down and kept trying till I got exhale. just takes some time and practice! Good luck!
@xma66ot4lifex Thank you so much! This isn't my best though, becuase it was late at night and I couldn't be as loud as I normally should. But thanks! \m/
already saw your previous video, loved this one too, i dont know if im doing it right, could you take a look at my vid i made for infidel and tell me what you think about the vocals i made there ?
@hungryman238 Sorry, my explanation musn't be helpuf to you. It is really hard to explain exactly HOW to do this, but this just kinda gives you the tools to get there.
Search 'Blixish' He's a YouTuber and a great metal vocalist and he replies to like almost ANY message! Ask him about it and he will give you a very great explanation. He's knows what he's doing, and what he talks about! Watch his vids and hit him up, you will get help. Good luck!
@JustToWatchvids1 Well, it surely isn't like that for lots of people. BUT your diaphragm works differently when laying down. But me and anyone else would highly suggest that you practice them while sitting (Sitting up straigh, ofcourse) and standing. But if you want to really get good diaphragm use, just be louder! you get more power and distortion and you automaticly use your diaphragm properly! Good luck!
Need some help man!! Or anybody! Wtf is wrong when it dosen't start to hurt after a few minutes of doing it, but you just plain get dizzy and feel like fainting? Too much push?
@GRCFilms Hahaha Well I wouldn't consider what you're having a 'Problem'. It's normal to get light head and dizzy to it feels like you're wanting to faint when you're first getting used to it. If there is no pain in your throat, that's great! I'd get light headed at first and would even get a slight headache too sometimes. But after a while, it stops. For more power&Distortion, get louder, and that makes you laight-headed, feel like fainting feeling, and that is normal. Just take short breaks/
@GRCFilms No prob, and just remember, don't be quite like I was here! You won't get good power being as quiet as I was. I did my vocals quiet because it was late at night when I decided to make this video.
So just stay relaxed, be loud and you're good to go. Stay Metal \m/
dosnt matter what people tell you doing vocals should disturb ur throat abit for a week somethng like that (learn how to breath properly) and you will easly do vocals by learning how to breath u learn how to use ur diaphram muscales
@hadshark Well if it kinda hurts like a little bit after like a few minutes of doing it than that's normal. For me it would tickle like heck and then start to hurt. But after some practice it comes with no pain or tickle.
If it hurts just upon doing it, then maybe you're doing something wrong. But yes, when you're first doing it, it's normal for it to hurt. With practice, over time that will stop. Always drink water to help the pain.
@drdave313 who the fuck are you calling this dude a fucktard??? Ur the fucktard, he's on Youtube helping people to learn something. he's doing a good thing for metal fans and being a helpful and good person by doing it. you have no idea what he's like! he could be the coolest guy, but, just cuz his taste in music isnt like urs, he's a fucktard, okay, ur right. You're a stupid ass. Why dont you go back to licking your butt buddy's asshole and listen to whatever the fuck you listen to, you Troll?
@MetalSk8Shred ...I can tell by this tutorial that you have squeeled like a pig many times!!! LOL!!! I know a big buck nigger that can help you with your pig squeels..LMFAO!!! Go read a book you clown!!!!
@MetalSk8Shred any tips on the throat getting dry? I'm aiming for brutal death metal/slam gutterals and I notice my throat gets dry fairly quick and the vocals starts to sound raspy and dry. Also, if I do it too loud the same problem happens, I can do it fairly loud but I'm not sure if it's loud enough. Am I doing something wrong? This seems to be my only problem because when I have all that phlegm in my throat I sound really good, how do I keep it there? lol, thanks.
@MKplayer7 If you're doing False Cord/Power Exhaled Gutturals, the louder the better. Making Flase Cord lows, mids and highs super loud makes them sound much much better. So don't worry about getting super loud about those, but for Grunting/Gurgling/BrutalDeathMetal vocals. Don't try to be THAT loud! So don't worry about Volume too much.
With practice, your throat will stay moistened longer and longer. And always just keep a water at hand. That worked for me and now my thraot never gets dry.
@MKplayer7 My throat would always get dry like that too, so just practice, always keep your throat moistened with some water when it starts feeling dry and just keep practicing. and you'll find yourself having to grasp for your water less and less over time and practice! Good luck! And always stay Metal \m/
@drdave313 dude shut the fuck up!! i've seen ur channel u hippy... i thot u ppl were about peace n shit, so why r u so racist?? and like u can read, and like u can actually scream!
You might be fantastic at a Jack in the box drive thru...Try saying.."YOU WANT FRIES WITH THAT"...Do it as a growl...All the Jr. High school students will have their parents take them there for lunch...Have you displayed this to any of the major schools? Harvard or Yale might be interested??
@drdave313 From the looks of your profile, it looks like you're no Death metal fan. So if you're laughing at me, well you have not much to laugh at because you don't understand how much technique is required in doing this. It's not just yelling and screaming, there's quite a bit to it.
But if that's not why you're "LOL"ing at me, than I have no clue what you're laughing at. Just stick to what you listen to and don't just assume what you have no idea what is.
hey man i did a video on growl grunt and pig squeals and ive been having trouble doing it. im being told im doing it wrong and not really getting any advice on how to imrove...from watching this video i managed to get the pig squeals technique ok but the growls and grunts its hard to put power into it without it going all gay
@slagemo616 Lucky! I'd love to see Amon Amarth and meet Johan, but they haven't toured around where I live in like 3 years, but next time they're here, I'll be there for sure. Great band
@slagemo616 I'm pretty sure that part isn't a pig squeal. The "set me" part definitely isn't and then as he goes into the word "free" you can really clearly here the the exhaling "fuh" sound that the f makes. I think it just sounds like a pig squeal because he's holding the eeeeee, and there's some echo that gives it a little bit of an inhale kind of sound.
I'm quite noob to scream vocals, what I'd like to know is if these kind of screams are good for bands like Bring me the Horizon or Bullet for my Valentine.
Dude Thats great! Thanks fro helping! You got this down perfectly. especially with the pig squeals saying "dont touch the roof of your mouth" And ehhhh deathcore is crappy but eh
Thank you. You are the only person on YouTube that has actually learnt me gutturals!!! Everyone else explained so bad with all the Pee Wee Herman stuff...
But as soon you said that guttural basicly is just a lower pig squeal, you have to push more air, and make it as low as possible i got the right sound!!! I'm so freaking happy and i'm subbing you!!!
@Slapbass19 Thanks a bunch man, I'm glad I could help! The Pee Wee Herman thing doesn't really work for most people, and that is actually a different technique than gutturals. That would be grunting or "Brutal/slam" growls. Gutturals are different than that, but glad I could help andkeep it metal, bro!
@WEIRDNGEEKY I'm glad I could help in anyway, and if that doesn't hurt, it means you're doing it right, however you're doing them, haha I sure as hell can't do them, I cough and my throat will ache etc, lol keep it metal, bro.
I actually learned exhale guttural as a young kid, I didn't even know that the same thing could be accomplished through inhaling till later. Anyhow great vid, cheers :D
@blindXsightedXworld I hear that too. But if there is somebody that can do it really good and actually knows how to do it without hurting themselves and be able to do it all the time without any pain or damage, I'd actually like to hear it! hahaha
@MetalSk8Shred when i use to do inhales alot they didnt hurt me. i really didnt use my throat but my stumach. idk it was weird. i can still do it though haha
@TheNameIsPascal screaming & such for music only damages your voice if you do it the wrong way. if you literally SCREAM, it's wrong & it will completely rape your vocal chords, but if you learn the right way it won't hurt them. that's why there is a certain way to do it, so your voice will be okay.

Just make that like ten times luder and it will sound alot better.
MetalSk8Shred 4 months ago
@bearblaster420 Now with Smoking. After you have smoked for a long time, I know it reduces breath presuure, so that can explain why you lose stamina. And I know when I was first learning, I'd start losing ability to sound good after about 10 or 15 minutes of practice. And smoking does have an effect to the vocal cords. But I'd say just keep practicing and possibly just moderate how much you smoke. I know that is a very hard thing for smokers to do, but I will help your vocals out.

since when did death metal involve pig squeals? fuck that shit. real death metal doesnt have pig squeals. pig squeals are stupid as hell
razorguitar777 7 months ago 2
@razorguitar777 I won't fight your opinion on pig squeals because... Well it's your opinion, that would be stupid to fight. But there are few Deathmetal bands that pig squeal, like Putrid Pile. I know putrid pile is sorta GoreGrind but yeah. And Brutal Death Metal will Pig squeal every now and then. Not too many Death Metal bands pig squeal, but they're out there and that doesn't mean they aren't True Death Metal cause they throw them in there =P
MetalSk8Shred 7 months ago
@MetalSk8Shred i just think its ridculous you know? death metal used to pride its self on talent, but pig squeals dont take any effort, i remember the first time i heard one, i laughed, tried it, and mastered it. guttural vocals and shrieks take alot of talent. and i appreciate that you werent a dick about what i said, thankyou for not being a shit face bitch haha.
razorguitar777 7 months ago
@razorguitar777 dude i hope your not dissin on the inhale pig squeal, cuz it actually does take some skill to get the perfect inhale squeal, which is in brutal death metal, check Amagortis. and dont tell me i dont kno DM cuz i basically just listen to the original late early 90s dm like CC, suffocation, deicide, and all that good shiiiit haha, but amagortis sounds Badass lol.
korpsefck 6 months ago
@razorguitar777 pig squeals aren't hard??? ok mate listen to the first band on my video 23 great pig squeals (bermuda loose lips) do the vocal better or the same good and post it if you can't than shut your fucking mouth because proper pig squeals are hard
7dayspking 6 months ago
@razorguitar777 Hahaha No problem. I respect your opinion, for we all have on =P. But Pig squeals are actually alot easier than gutturals and high screams for me too.

@razorguitar777 mate you think pig squeals are shit!!!!!! there only shit if you sound liek job for a cowboy watch my video 23 great pig squeals you'll see how good they really are they only suck if you inhale or if your shit at pig squealing like 98% of bands but my video shows some bands that are good at it alot of them have a low gutteral sound in there pig squeals makes it more brutal

chaoticdoom666 7 months ago
@chaoticdoom666 A guttural Fry vocal or False Cord?
MetalSk8Shred 7 months ago
@MetalSk8Shred Well Idk really it varies from how well i breathe the false chords i do take strength and shit and the fry screams just i open my air way more than i need to and even then it still sounds like false chord but i still need A LOT of practice
chaoticdoom666 7 months ago
@chaoticdoom666 Yeah this shit deffinitely doesn't come over night. I learned that the hard way lol. Just remember that False Cord feels alot different and it's naturally alot louder than Fry vocals.
MetalSk8Shred 7 months ago
@MetalSk8Shred Ikr dude it took me like 3 months to figure out how to get the brutal pig squeal down! xD i was like (breathe) MEEEMEMEMEMEEEEMEMEMEEEEEEE S.O.B.!!! then like 2 months later i was doing it again and then i was like :O jesus christ i can do that and i'm turning 15 and can do this xD
chaoticdoom666 7 months ago
@chaoticdoom666 Oh damn you're young lol. Well that's good cause when you're 19-20, you'll be alot better than I am right now. But yeah dude, anything vocally takes sooo much practice before you start getting a good sound!
MetalSk8Shred 7 months ago
Thank you man! ill be sure to take your advice on this death metal vocals thing. the nxt time i practice vocals in my car n yea. i listen to almost all types of metal like TDWP,AA, SS, Whitechapel, Chelsea Grin, BMTH (dont troll) and etc. im already getting my death growls down just the pig squeals and guttoral's again thanks!

@GhostMan1408 That's great dude! and I'm glad I could help. And I'm not gonna troll you for what you listen to cause that is just your personal taste in music! =P
MetalSk8Shred 7 months ago
man you scared me to death with: "DO NOT let all the air gush out, it can lead to having your vocal cords slam against each other aggressively and over time, and surgery." i will just try to somehow not end up in surgery
Zardikar94 8 months ago
@Zardikar94 I'm actually slightly wrong about that. But you still don't want to let all the air out too fast because you'll only have like a 2 second growl and you can't say any long sentances. The more air/breath pressure you apply, the louder, more powerful and more distorted it will sound, and that's a good thing.
MetalSk8Shred 8 months ago
@RandomJon082 Huh... I've never thought of that hahahaha. But it's easy to get to, but that still takes practice to get a good sound and I'm glad I could be help! \m/

how much of the top of your throat do u actually use?
no one ever explains this.
i can distort it from the bottom but what about on top?
do u use your voice or just breathe out?
im trying to get a glass casket sound btw if that helps understand what i mean.
instead of it sounding like beneath the skys lows.

Good luck!
MetalSk8Shred 9 months ago
I do vocals much better when lying down... wth is up with that? :p
JustToWatchvids1 9 months ago
@JustToWatchvids1 Well, it surely isn't like that for lots of people. BUT your diaphragm works differently when laying down. But me and anyone else would highly suggest that you practice them while sitting (Sitting up straigh, ofcourse) and standing. But if you want to really get good diaphragm use, just be louder! you get more power and distortion and you automaticly use your diaphragm properly! Good luck!
MetalSk8Shred 9 months ago
@MetalSk8Shred Thanks!

Need some help man!! Or anybody! Wtf is wrong when it dosen't start to hurt after a few minutes of doing it, but you just plain get dizzy and feel like fainting? Too much push?
GRCFilms 9 months ago
@GRCFilms Hahaha Well I wouldn't consider what you're having a 'Problem'. It's normal to get light head and dizzy to it feels like you're wanting to faint when you're first getting used to it. If there is no pain in your throat, that's great! I'd get light headed at first and would even get a slight headache too sometimes. But after a while, it stops. For more power&Distortion, get louder, and that makes you laight-headed, feel like fainting feeling, and that is normal. Just take short breaks/
MetalSk8Shred 9 months ago
@MetalSk8Shred Cool thx man
GRCFilms 9 months ago
@GRCFilms No prob, and just remember, don't be quite like I was here! You won't get good power being as quiet as I was. I did my vocals quiet because it was late at night when I decided to make this video.
So just stay relaxed, be loud and you're good to go. Stay Metal \m/

is it suppose to hurt when you first do it???
hadshark 11 months ago
@hadshark Well if it kinda hurts like a little bit after like a few minutes of doing it than that's normal. For me it would tickle like heck and then start to hurt. But after some practice it comes with no pain or tickle.
If it hurts just upon doing it, then maybe you're doing something wrong. But yes, when you're first doing it, it's normal for it to hurt. With practice, over time that will stop. Always drink water to help the pain.
Goodluck and don't give up!!

MKplayer7 8 months ago
@MKplayer7 If you're doing False Cord/Power Exhaled Gutturals, the louder the better. Making Flase Cord lows, mids and highs super loud makes them sound much much better. So don't worry about getting super loud about those, but for Grunting/Gurgling/BrutalDeathMetal vocals. Don't try to be THAT loud! So don't worry about Volume too much.
With practice, your throat will stay moistened longer and longer. And always just keep a water at hand. That worked for me and now my thraot never gets dry.
MetalSk8Shred 8 months ago
@MKplayer7 My throat would always get dry like that too, so just practice, always keep your throat moistened with some water when it starts feeling dry and just keep practicing. and you'll find yourself having to grasp for your water less and less over time and practice! Good luck! And always stay Metal \m/

Technique?? LOL!!!!!
drdave313 11 months ago
@drdave313 From the looks of your profile, it looks like you're no Death metal fan. So if you're laughing at me, well you have not much to laugh at because you don't understand how much technique is required in doing this. It's not just yelling and screaming, there's quite a bit to it.
But if that's not why you're "LOL"ing at me, than I have no clue what you're laughing at. Just stick to what you listen to and don't just assume what you have no idea what is.

@slagemo616 Lucky! I'd love to see Amon Amarth and meet Johan, but they haven't toured around where I live in like 3 years, but next time they're here, I'll be there for sure. Great band
MetalSk8Shred 1 year ago
@slagemo616 I'm pretty sure that part isn't a pig squeal. The "set me" part definitely isn't and then as he goes into the word "free" you can really clearly here the the exhaling "fuh" sound that the f makes. I think it just sounds like a pig squeal because he's holding the eeeeee, and there's some echo that gives it a little bit of an inhale kind of sound.

But as soon you said that guttural basicly is just a lower pig squeal, you have to push more air, and make it as low as possible i got the right sound!!! I'm so freaking happy and i'm subbing you!!!
:D
Slapbass19 1 year ago
@Slapbass19 Thanks a bunch man, I'm glad I could help! The Pee Wee Herman thing doesn't really work for most people, and that is actually a different technique than gutturals. TheNameIsPascal 1 year ago
