@HenrikMoe90 Each member has definitely gotten better since then. LaBrie started very strong, went down hill and is slowly climbing back up! I love DT then and now!
You can get the album "Greatest Hit (...and 21 Other Pretty Cool Songs)", the "Lie"-single, or it is found on a fanmade bootleg, called "cleaning out the closet", but that bootleg is hard to find...
its a shame i was only 1 year old when this was done, i wouldve loved to have been there before the food poisoning. although all you have to do is watch your other video of this live to see that he's still got it
He's still amazing, and my favorite vocalist! I'm just saying that he was better then, than he is now, in my opinion.
He's with no doubt still the best vocalist in the world.
It will be intresting to hear "Black Clouds and Silver Linings" when it is released june 23. Hopefully James, and the other guys, rocks on that album too. They said that it would be a mix of ACoC and Learning to Live, my favorite DT songs!
i really need to listen to more dream theater, ive heard everything off images and words and im not sure where to go next, any other extremely awesome songs i should check out?
All their epic song are great, like "A Change of Seasons"(my favorite song of all time), "Octavarium", "In the Presence of Enemies" and "The Killing Hand"(check out the version of The Killing Hand from "Live at The Marquee", its amazing, you can find it here on Youtube).
But you should also check out the three songs from "Awake" called "A Mind Beside Itself"(Erotomania, Voices and The Silent Man).
Of course, almost all song of Dream Theater are masterpices.
Live at the Marquee and the Home Sweet Home Boot legs are both INSANELY amazing versions of that song! James really brought out the greatness of that song that Charlie was blocking.
that F# just killed me.... XD

I think Dream Theater as a band is better than ever, but LaBrie sure was something in the early 90's

I feel like right when Petrucci and Portnoy got beards, they started to get a different sound from their distinctive 80s/early 90s sound. Literally.

Yeah, that F# is awesome.
Too bad the vocal is a bit low on this cd, and it switches from echo to non-echo all the time...
From about 4:08 you can hear how good mr. LaBrie really was!

june 23rd? i didnt realise it was so soon. thats awesome

Yeah, I can't wait!
They are filming a video of a song from the new album at this time I think. It's called "A Rite of Passage".
I also heard that the album would consist of 4 epic songs, and 2 singles! That sounds cool to me.
The cover of the album is also really cool! It looks like a mix of Awake, ACoS and Train of Thought.
Of course I mean ACoS and not ACoC in my earlier comment, hehe

Hmm... I love everything from Dream Theater, so it is a bit hard to choose.
All of their albums is different from each other, but I can list some you might like:
"Awake" was the last album before James' vocal rupture, and is also the last album with Moore on keys, and it is no doubt one of my favorites.
"Scenes from a Memory" is my favorite DT album. It's a concept album, and is split up in acts, like a play.
It was also the first album with Rudess on the keys, and he is great.
