Hey, can I get your opinion on wearing board shorts as everyday attire during the summer months? I have done this a couple time myself and have never had anyone awkwardly staring or pointing them out to me so I assumed that they look fine and are stylish. I would really appreciate your advice. I dont wanna keep looking like a tard if its making me seem that way.
Usually like your advice, but very disappointed in your recommending board shorts as best for all. My vote goes to short boxer length, more flattering to all men, fit or flabby. Knee length makes legs look skinnier for fit guys, makes flabby guys look fatter!

There are more kinds of suits than just speedo and board shorts.You may want to think about tan lines,if you wear a different pair make sure its the same cut, also you may need a jock strap with the board short.

You got style ... but the Logo you use for your brand (the one we see at the beginning here is just poor man). I think I can help out with a vector design of your choice, won't cost you anything .... I think most of us here could come up with some sort of a idea as to what it should look like :)

So you have never been to europe. Only people that use speedos in europe are the ones who live in countrys where they have terrible weather, thus swiming pools, thus using speedos everywhere because it's what they are used to.

I'm in southern europe and yes everyone used to wear speedos on the beach. Not anymore though. Which sucks to be honest. A tan up to the knee is pathetic. I still regularly wear speedos under shorts and get the shorts of when I'm laying down on the sun.

Sorry but youre dead wrong ! The spandex brief bathing suit (Americans call them speedos which is also dead wrong) or the boxer brief spandex suit is what ALL men should wear no matter what their body type. They work well in water, they dry super fast, they dont bunch up when wet.
When I see a man coming out of water with those long baggy shorts to the knee...all clingy to his legs he looks ridiculous. Not to mention the weird tan line from waist to knee which looks awful when naked.

Why wear board shorts, when you can wear SKI PANTS?!? That's what board shorts are, just a little shorter!! I'm amazed that guys don't DROWN from the excess material holdin' all that water....AWFUL. I'm a 48 yr. old former competitive swimmer who used to wear Speedos a hundred years ago, so those are definitely out, but talk about extremes! There are MUCH better compromised available, fellas! I think boxer-style, to-the-middle-of-the thigh-length, trunks are the best way to go FOR SURE!

Note on Speedos: water sports (hahah), yes. Swimming over 30 laps for a workout, yes. Aaron and I played water polo so it's fine for that or other competitions. One other occasion? Wakeboarding, etc. If you are doing something where the "normal" suit might come off, a Speedo underneath is like wearing underwear when you think you might get your shorts pulled down in gym class. You want to show the meat, fine, but otherwise wear a Speedo underneath your normal suit and thank me later ;)

whilst board shorts are nice ...speedos are the way to go...I am sorry if you feel uncomfortable with my display of shameless virility but when I go to the beach, I am trying to relax, tan and enjoy the water...I do not give a rats ass about whether or not some boring middle aged guy cant get an erection because he saw some man meat...I do agree with elastic shorts...very dorky and makes me feel better about myself when others are wearing it...Europeans always do it better :-p

@19Fahood88 Americans are really weird about men's swimwear--very uptight considering how free we're supposed to be. One town even outlawed Speedos on their beach. Yet despite this dislike they make a point of bringing it up and go on and on discussing it. Good advise here about summer shorts -- thanks! But when it comes to the beach, there's a whole range of great looking swimwear other than bikinis and board shorts. Board shorts are long because teenage surfers and skimmers (to whom the shorts were first marketed in the '80s) are often embarrassed to show their gangley bodies. Men who are comfortable in their own skin can stand to show more of it (and certainly don't need camo to feel butch).
Kinda. Surfers like a little longer short because of the wax on the board which is sticky and uncomfortable on bare skin when you're waiting for a wave. But the North American trend to hang these down to the knee has other motivations (as above) and makes swimming difficult. Your advice to avoid baggy shorts, though, is bang on. Thanks!

In many European countries speedos are very popular, I would even say the default type of men's swim-wear. So, I guess, it really matters where you're going on vacation. :-)

Short swimwear are grate for people with a great physique and are fun to be in the water with... who wants to be in the water with long shorts!! Did you ever try to swim with them. @ReeshTV indeed I do. Started shaving them when I started competing in bodybuilding about 8 years ago and it just sort of stuck. For me it is cleaner and feels better.
@AlphaMconsulting What is the best way to shave without breaking out? B/c I shave shaven before both my legs and chest and I break out in the middle of my chest and the back of my thighs. Thanks for your input in advance.
@prnurse82 I also break out on the back of my legs with a very uncomfortable rash. So I just use clippers on the back of my legs and shave the lower leg and my thighs. As for chest, if you find the same rash, maybe lufa each time you shower to help the hairs get through the skin or just use the clippers.
This vid made me realize how close the summer is. We've been getting good weather lately but I wasn't really thinking about it. I guess it's time to break out the summer gear.

What about the board shorts with elastic onlly in the back? The only board shorts with no elastic are all covered in flowers, and im not really a flower guy. I've tried everywhere. Let me know what you think, thanks

Note on Speedos: water sports (hahah), yes. Swimming over 30 laps for a workout, yes. Aaron and I played water polo so it's fine for that or other competitions. One other occasion? Wakeboarding, etc. If you are doing something where the "normal" suit might come off, a Speedo underneath is like wearing underwear when you think you might get your shorts pulled down in gym class. You want to show the meat, fine, but otherwise wear a Speedo underneath your normal suit and thank me later ;)

I'm 19 yrs old and i wanted to know that when wearing board shorts should you shave your pube line from your belly button? i mean mine isn't very hairy and its not out of control but its noticeable..... i'm just not to sure what to do, and i dont have the 6 pak yet haha ( workn on it).

whilst board shorts are nice ...speedos are the way to go...I am sorry if you feel uncomfortable with my display of shameless virility but when I go to the beach, I am trying to relax, tan and enjoy the water...I do not give a rats ass about whether or not some boring middle aged guy cant get an erection because he saw some man meat...I do agree with elastic shorts...very dorky and makes me feel better about myself when others are wearing it...Europeans always do it better :-p

@19Fahood88 Americans are really weird about men's swimwear--very uptight considering how free we're supposed to be. One town even outlawed Speedos on their beach. Yet despite this dislike they make a point of bringing it up and go on and on discussing it. I think it must be because most American men are circumcised (like Muslims) and are squeamish about their bodies and sexuality.

Good advise here about summer shorts -- thanks! But when it comes to the beach, there's a whole range of great looking swimwear other than bikinis and board shorts. Board shorts are long because teenage surfers and skimmers (to whom the shorts were first marketed in the '80s) are often embarrassed to show their gangley bodies. Men who are comfortable in their own skin can stand to show more of it (and certainly don't need camo to feel butch).

Kinda. Surfers like a little longer short because of the wax on the board which is sticky and uncomfortable on bare skin when you're waiting for a wave. But the North American trend to hang these down to the knee has other motivations (as above) and makes swimming difficult. Your advice to avoid baggy shorts, though, is bang on. Thanks!

@ReeshTV indeed I do. Started shaving them when I started competing in bodybuilding about 8 years ago and it just sort of stuck. For me it is cleaner and feels better.

@prnurse82 I also break out on the back of my legs with a very uncomfortable rash. So I just use clippers on the back of my legs and shave the lower leg and my thighs. As for chest, if you find the same rash, maybe lufa each time you shower to help the hairs get through the skin or just use the clippers.
