  • Who would dislike this...They are obviously jealous of his amazing talent :P

  • You look like you have been hanging with Travis Orbin too much the way your kit is set up

  • epic

  • Comment removed

  • Your bass drum sounds like God.

  • ONE OF THE LIKES IS ORBIN

  • dude you are sick drummer. if i was your father i'd be very proud of you.

  • How long does it take you to learn a song like this?

  • @Edwardo1993 You don't just "learn" it. It takes a good few years of practice to be able to do the patterns, then if you can read music it'll help a lot, or you'll have to remember everything off by ear.

  • If you could do the last 2 minutes or so of the song Weightless by them. That would be epic. Oh btw awesome AAL covers!!! and You look like the guy from Always Sunny In Philadelphia hahaha

  • @greenbeaner69 That two last minutes is EPIC, that's the best part of their albulm, pure joy.

  • since megaupload has been taken down....is there anywhere else where I could get the transcription? Thanks!

  • Dud, amazing, like all your other covers, its damn hard to get all the song that perfect, ur the best doing this cover. My unique suggestions are ur toms. I mean, ur using your 16 and 14? maybe. they are cool, but they kind resonate too much. For animals as leaders stuff i would suggest to tune them lower and dyer as possible. Check the kit that navene used for Weightless, its a tama hyper drive, with 6.5"x10" Tom Tom and 7"x12" Tom Tom, that way he gets the driest sound. thats all. :)

  • that awkward moment when your realize he is not using high toms

  • pleeease, share the notes of this song. you have, i see it :3

  • gud job mate but u cud've looked more like u were fun too hehe

  • everyone knows this song should have been called "Do Not Go Djently"

  • are u serius?? ur fuckin reading the thing?? damn

  • at the end of the video you look like you're surprised that the song is over lol

  • kit sounds amazing bro.

  • Are you ambidextrous?

  • @MasonStroudDrumming Most drummers that play this set up either are, or become much more comfortable with playing open handed on both sides; since the drums are just "played" rather than worrying about which hand plays them, much like Mike Mangini

  • somebody please help, I wanna check out his transcription of the song, but it's blocked! what can I do to learn this beautiful song?

  • Excellent cover there dude!

Love the tight sound of that kit, makes me want to get behind the kit again!

  • awesome cover and mix

  • This is seriously the best sounding snare I've ever heard. Teach me your ways...

  • Since megaupload is banned from the net, could you upload the transcription somewhere else?

  • you really remind me travis orbin dude!

  • Thanks for taking the time to put these up. Friggin amazing, they're like a drum lesson in themselves. Keep it up bro.

  • two questions: do you ever get tired of being asked to do covers? cause i see you as definitely more of a "i'm putting MY shit out there" type of guy. haha.

and also, do you get tired of being compared to other drummers?

  • yessss earth departure please lol

  • are you playing from notes? :OO

  • do earth departure man :)

  • I love how he has a slightly more subtle version of Matt Halpern's twitch, haha.

  • @GreenMeep You'd make your o-face too if you were sitting in front of that snare hahaha

  • PDF Drum Transcription is not found!!! Megaupload die!! Please upload again!

  • VERY NICE!!!!

  • representing meinl! gotta love em right? :D

  • Superb!

  • BUENISIMO, saludos desde Chile!!!

  • Megaupload is dead!!

  • Do an infinite regression! thats such a drumming focused song.

  • FLAWLESS! I can not think of a possible reason 2 people decided to dislike this.

  • you are a great drummer man. how do you like that reference brass? I'm thinking of buying it myself

  • Subscription material right there.

Great videos. More AAL and I am a happy subscriber. :)

  • I love the kit and your playing man!

  • what cymbals are you using for that stack?

  • wtf insaaane. you even nailed the albums kick drum sound

  • LOVE UR SNARE SOO TIGHT!!!!! LIKE A VIRGIN

  • Does having your kick beaters that long make it harder to play? Like it would take more effort to hit the kick drum than if they were shorter...? That's what I always though, I may be wrong.

  • youre beast congrats

  • I love the sound of the bass drum.

  • that low tom is forreal

  • Great mixing! really love your bass drum sound!

  • BUENA MAN SALUDOS DESDE PERU

  • you kind of remind me of Blake Richardson!

  • I'll give you 5 dollars if you narrate my life with your drums.

  • that snare man, could i like... have it?

  • That was spot on!

  • those cymbals aren't moving anywhere. lol.

  • Hey man, I've watched just about all your videos and you're absolutely amazing! Is it possible for you to tell me how you managed to get your left foot leading as much as your right on the bass drum? Also, where do I begin if I want to learn this type of music on drums? Animals As Leaders are one of my favourite bands but I find it hard to learn any of their songs due to the constant time changes and poly rhythms contained in every song. Thanks! :)

  • @MichaelBrogannn slow the songs down through audacity. and if you wunna go further than that, transcribe them note for note.

  • Like for The Slave Pedal Taking Over!!! Rock Solid Bro! Good Stuff!!

  • Epic snare man, epic set up. Do some more weightless

  • great playing dude! love your style! the ghost notes are perfect

  • Alex, please do a tutorial on how you mic, track, and process your kit.

  • could you do new groove or maybe frak the gods by periphery while you have this set up? that would be so sickkkkkkkk

  • I've been watching your channel for sometime now man, and I must say always impressive! You, along with Travis Orbin, were the ones who inspired me to add a second hi hat. I plan on doing some AAL covers too... but keep scaring myself out of it... ha.

    Again, awesome stuff!

  • are you left handed? not only because you play (i think it is called) off-handed, but i saw that you play the single bass work with the left foot. or is it just to train your left muscles more?

  • Please play "0dessa" from the "Weightless" PLEASEEEEEEE! :p

  • Hello Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

  • Oh my god man! You are absolutely awesome! I love your drumming sooo much that I can't even express my self normally ;D

And your drumset is really impressive. I guess you spend decent amount of money on that beautifulness ;)

  • CAFO NOW PLZ. I SO WANT TO SE YOU PLAY THAT SONG. THUMBS UP PEOPLE!

  • fucking great job dude!! PLEASE do CAFO!!!

  • that has to be THE tightest stack i've ever seen. LOL sounds great tho

  • @officerpoopnard It's a pre-made stack :) Meinl custom makes it.

  • @alexbeast14 incorrect, see description

  • @iloveskateboarding45 ah, thank you ;)

  • @alexbeast14 haha no problem, they do look pre-made though.

  • @iloveskateboarding45 I know right? They should sale those two as a combo.

  • If Blake Richardson and Travis Orbin had a child

  • How the fuck did I miss this cover? This is one of my fav songs off the new album lol.

  • one quick question buddy, Why did you decide to set up your kit like Orbin in this particular song? Is it easier or what?

  • your amazing, more songs from weightless please =]

  • I'm curious on why you choose to have a tom on the left and on the right rather than having one mounted and the floor tom on the right. Is it personal preference or just the layout of the song makes it easier? Please elaborate.

  • What is the camera you used for this?

  • very nice

  • killer job and the drums sound amazing

  • what china are you using? sounds amazing.

  • that travis orbin kit set up is so sexy

  • You've done a great job here Alex! Like spot on! ;)

  • It would definitely be great to see another cover from Weightless!

  • Well, I WAS going to cover this, but you do this song SO much justice. HELL of a job man. Thoroughly impressed. Although, you took Travis Orbin's setup. ;) :P

  • That is such an odd set-up, he knows how to work it though!

    GOOD JOB!

  • I'm interesting of your snare, may i know what is that model ?

  • 2 mics for the snare?

  • I like the natural bass sound a lot more than the triggers, but i understand the need for them when you get to doing 6s and 32nd notes and whatnot. crazy bastard. haha

  • HOW DO YOU GET YOUR SNARE TO SOUND SO GOOD!?!?

  • @MitchReitmanOnDrums Three words, a Greg Macklin

  • I love that mic setup, it lets the drums sound so natural..

  • you like travis orbin huh...lol sick tho...ive been trying to find a snare thats sounds similar whats the size shell and brand man

  • not fair.. you know navene

  • sooooooo sick !!!!!!!!!!

  • Your setup is incredibly unique. I like it a lot. Keep it up bro.

  • You're great,no words. You're one of the best drummers in the scene...for sure...

  • Seriously, someone help me to stop pressing repeat :/

  • I cannot stop watching this! Alex, you are such a beast! By the way, what sticks are you using? MS4's? And if you don't mind revealing your secrets, what steps do you go through to learn and transcribe a song like this? Akward outro FTW!!!

  • awesome job, great recording quality as well

  • I admire your drumming talent so much! I hope to one day play on a level as high as you!

  • simply amazing dude.. very well done.. how long does a song like this take you? and is there tabs on that paper?

  • I love that snare head!

  • Goddamn, all these Orbin "joke" comments are annoying. If people just took a minute to read the description on videos...

  • Absolute perfection!

  • Alex Rudinger Orbin? lol

  • @crimsonchan911 No, Alex Ordigner or Alex Rubinator

  • Incredible....Absolutely Incredible!

  • solid bro!!

  • Dude STOP! You're making the rest of us musicians look really bad.

  • 1:34 head-bob win

  • Dude all your covers are pretty much perfect, unreal job on this one as well!

  • Comment removed

  • ALEX!!! I am so happy to see you do a cover of this. If you get the chance check my drum cover of this song so you can tell me all the things I did wrong haha. Absolutely stellar job man. five stars!!

  • Do more songs from "Weightless"!

  • Damn! You almost went full-blown Orbo on this one! Stellar playing, as always!

  • wow dude! Youve grown up some muscles! LOL. great cover!

  • this just convinced me to get their new album. very nice and clean drumming =]

  • animals as leaders, fleshwrought and vildhjarta tour.

  • How do you mix the drums out of the original so well to record your own drums over? Or is there a secret instrumental laying around :P

  • How deep is your snare drum?

  • @Gary4824 balls deep...?

  • Ok, Travis Orbin ;)

  • I have those same socks. . . . .

  • Holy shit!!!!!!!

  • Quick question about your G2's. I use a clear G2 on my 16" floor tom, but i have to use an Evans control ring, because the ring is horrific otherwise and it compromises the sound. Do you find the same problem? I can't see if you use any dampening method or not, and i wonder if it's just my head, as i doubt all G2's are as sketchy as mine..

  • awesome cover. spot on dude.

  • that fill right at 1:59 is so sick. also, your bass drum sounds really good without the triggers

  • Comment removed

  • Alex you are twisted man!!! It's like you're programmed or something!!

  • you nailed it like always !

  • love the sound of that kick (and oviously your playing it's amazing)

  • Drum tones are killer! Amazing job as usual!

  • that was badass! great job!

  • This DUDE always Deliver! *face palm sigh*

  • YES! Always wanted to see you cover some AAL.

  • @inimicalODDITY Ahh, forgot about that Tempting Time cover you put up long ago. It's also crazy to see you playing Evans in so many of your more recent vids. I've always loved Evans and told many Remo fans that if they tried the Emad, they would fall in love.

  • you're a great drummer but the way you play looks really uncomfortable lol

  • Yeah I think that was the best sound out of all your videos. Great cover too

  • bass drum sounds perfect

  • Alex you are my hero. I've been listening to this AALbum religiously and I wanted to see someone play this because I can'y even get close. You are perfect in every possible way ;) no homo lmao

  • I see no mics on the toms... were they captured purely through overheads?

  • @SabianTamaDrummer

There are mics on the toms. They're pretty easy to see, the 16" tom mic is directly under my right crash. The 14" is in the same spot on the opposite side, but it's a bit covered in view by the stack.

    @Waseritan

Haha, thanks! It was the easiest way to get them a bit closer.

    @yanazu1matt

    Please see the description.

    @BClayDrums

Thanks a lot man, I'm rather happy with how it turned out as well.

  • I like the way how you mounted those tabs - On an cymbal stand, epic one! :D

  • dude what do you use for your stack im in love with it!?!?!

  • 12 stars of 10 possible

  • Sick dude, Love the open hand style. I'm a lefty and do that as well.

  • FAV

  • Maan , your awesome on every video you make !

but one question, how can you read those transcriptions?! i really dont get it?? :)

  • great drummming and a very Djazzy song, nice work dude!

  • Amazing!

  • Travis Orbin setup <3

  • the stack sounds great!

  • i want one t shirt with your face on it! XD

  • What sticks do you use man?

  • This is AWESOME

  • How much time u need to learn a cover?

  • @RianAnimator Probably quite a long time, seeing as he transcribes all the music himself :P

  • god, i love it *______*

  • Alex, i ran out of stock of good words for a long time ago. Keep up the good work!

  • Which cymbals do you use as stack right in front of you?

    It sound very nice!!

  • @TheProgManTimSTR "18" MB20 Rock China (bottom) and 12" Generation-X Filter China (top)." ¦:3

  • Alexis Rudrin.

  • Absolutely flawless. Loved it man, killer job!
