  • OLD TIRES LEACH TOXINS INTO THE SOIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AS GOOD AN IDEA AS THIS SOUNDS, YOU WILL BE TAKING IN WHAT THE TIRES LEACHED OUT!!!! PLEASE DON'T USE THIS WELL MEANT, BUT BAD IDEA!

  • A soil lab test would be negative for leached toxins. How many tons of tire dust are on our highways? Chicken little thinking by people that want us to live in caves and eat wild grass.

  • why do you have a tube right in the center

  • IS there a followup to this video? :D

  • Why are you cutting the potatoes wont that make them grow slower.

  • great work

  • I could have done without the frog...

  • we love your idea, im going to make some tire planters today, thanx again.

  • nice knife.

  • thows tires would be good for straw berrys you now that

  • Is there any danger of chemicals from the tire getting into the vegetables? I have often thought of using tires for raised gardens but have been afraid because I just dont know if anything toxic leaches out of the tire into the soil.

  • Hate to mention this, but getting your taters is gonna require your to dissassemble your tires..... Will thoses spuds be road worthy..???

  • Why don't we ever see videos of these projects producing something, they always show the planting stage and leave us to believe there was a bumper crop.

  • I hope they dont taste like tires.

why not plant them in the ground ?

  • old tires leach harmful chemicals into the soil and anything that grows in that soil. if you are bound and determined to use them in the garden, please don't grow edibles in old tires.

  • I'm gonna grow my owng vegetables when I go live alone xD because i'm very greedy and i'll enjoy the profit :P But what do you eat during the winter ?

  • well you have to keep putin dirt on it as it grows. how do you do that with the way you are doin it? i just start with one tire and put the patato starts in the senter of tire fill with dirt. as it grows i add another tire and more dirt and pig shit and staw. then repeet.

  • where can you find soil with worm casting. not on line but at lowes home depot maybe only 2 places like that here

  • how well did this end up working?

  • how well did this end up working?

  • hey are you doing an y update videos

  • Sir, you obviously missed the whole point of progressively filling the tires with soil as the potato grows. As the new growth is covered with soil, it produces new potatoes along the growth line. The same happens the deeper you plant a tomato plant. The deeper you plant, the more roots will grow along the stem.

    You missed the point! LOL!

  • Redneck alert!

  • No...

    Recovering Redneck alert!

    lol...

  • @CrazyFishFarmer

If you can admit it, and laugh, then not too shabby!

  • I rather have all the trees that were cut down behind you than the potatoes... )

  • You should put adsense on your site. Make some money!

  • i'm just trying to figure out why you would want to incorporate decomposing tire into your nutrient uptake

  • Cool I'm gonna try something like that this year. But I'm gonna put tire and dirt as the plant grows. Nvere seen the way you do it..did it work ok?

  • crazyfishfarmer, I forgot to tell you as you add the 2nd tire over the greenery, leave about 4-5 inches of greenery poking out top of dirt mixture, you don't need to cut tires on sides, the stems turn to roots and roots grow potatoes... so when the greenery gets 10-18 inches add next tire...cover with loose soil mixture between plants just like replanting..don't remove no greenery, ..repeat..one tire at a time..

and i made a few type eras in my other post ..oops..good luck

  • crazyfishfarmer, darling I totally like the pvc watering idea, but I tried the tire idea last year only using one tire and got beautiful greenery and small potatoes, then a friend told me WHEN the greenery pops up add another tire & dirt keep repeating it until 4 + high, then harvest when time, daddy sugested using saw dust,& others said add compost, moss,& saw dust mixture, the looser the dirt the more you get<those forks have been doing it for years,I am gathering my goodys for spring ;-) good luck

  • You can grow potates anywhere. If you can not grow potatoes? Give it up youll never be able to grow anything lol.

  • just wait till you wanna start editing HD thats where the expensive software starts!!

Ive got M2TS from AVCHD and the cheapest editing software beyond the camera package sw is about 50 buckaroos.

  • How were the potatoes did you notice any funky taste from the Tires? Do the chemicals from the tires get into the dirt, are there any chemicals to worry about? Great vid good music thanks for posting it.

  • Do you have holes on the side of the pvc pipe? What do you sue the pipe for? Thanks.

  • Yes....[ IIIIIIIIIIII ] like that.... I put the PVC pipe into it so i could water it... I just wanted to make sure that it was getting plenty of water... I have to water today so i will do a video of me watering them....

  • So how are the Taters doin now?

  • Doing pretty good... I will make a video soon...

  • if potatoes don't work grow frog's ,seriously

  • Already raise frogs... You will see videos of real frogs soon...I raise Anything aquatic... If i dont... I will soon...

  • Soon as the rain stops...My son got me a new camera... I am going to be in HD... God help us... Gardening will never be the same.... lol....

  • Ughh, I can't even watch the whole thing cause the frog is getting on my nerves.

  • i have frogs all over the place... sorry... lol...

  • Great thing! Keep us informed will ya?! :D

I'm trying to grow sweat peas in front of the windows. Lots of pigeons and snales outside so I'm trying to grow sweet peas inside this year. ;) Also I want to grow some potatoes from a very big old plastic container! lol :D It gives e real kick when you grow your own food! :D Wish you lot's of luck! :D

  • Brilliant idea. The tires provide radiant heat to your plants, so they are protected from frost.

  • I hope it will work that way...

  • It will, but only to a certain low temp. It depends on a lot of things....where you are, where you put your planters, etc.
