Hmm. Being " gay" myself... I do think RUFUS is very "queen" like. I don't think it's an insult. Sometimes it does detract from the inherent subtlety of his lyrics which are heartbreaking paeans about gay love, drug addiction, self-loathing, searching for identity. IE. He's just a ham. A bad actor. And needs a STRONG video clip director who can stop him from overacting.

I think we need to get our terminology correct. Overacting is NOT gay. Michael Stipe is gay. He's a great emotionalist in clips, doesnt over-act, make hammy faces. I think Rufus Wainwright does best when doing silly clips like RULES OR REGULATONS where it's allowed!! or when he focuses on the piano. GOING TO A TOWN is the worst performance in a clip I've seen in ages .. Same for THE ONE YOU LOVE. Hammy doesnt work here with the song or clip content.
