@arkmade Yes, this is the kind of Muslim I would respect. I was raised Muslim so I experienced my fair share of bigots and hate mongers but there is still a vast number of compassionate and open minded Muslims who are willing to let "God" be the one to punish and not take away someone's rights. Even as an atheist, I am thankful for what some may call "moderate Muslims" but what I call "true" Muslims. Despite the out dated customs they are willing to live and let live.

Instead, they should be agressively pressure other muslims to adopt the secular way of thinking. But no, they cannot, they would be shunned for that! And thus ... what a waste of time. Moderate muslims should just give up their religion and join secularists.

@ksym There was a moderate Muslim on this video that you just applauded. Also, most of the moderates are here in America because being shunned is the least of their worries. When you're surrounded by those extremists you're likely to be labeled as a traitor, apostate, and treated just like the enemy. So they come out west to escape that and be free. What good are they complaining all the way over here when all the extremists are way over there.

@DamienZshadow you made a good point. But if moderate muslims would clearly draw the line and separate from mainstream islamic propaganda, they would gain respect and support from secularists. Currently most moderates have no presence, they get minor sympathy from secular-minded people at most.

@ksym They have no obligation to speak out if they don't want to. It's not like all Muslims listen to one interpretation of their religion. Everyone is only responsible for themselves. If a moderate Muslim is practicing his religion and not harming anyone, then he's fine. It would be nice of him to say something but it's certainly not his duty. Just like how I hate being associated with Stalin for being Atheist I would never associate a Muslim with Osama Bin Laden or any other extremists.

I seriously think everybody should burn a quran as a protest for the handfull of zealot whackos that give islam a bad name.
And as we do that, we should make a big deal of if on the media, so all the whackos hear and get all excited. As a preparation we should arm all foreign embassys on islamic countries to the teeth, prepare them with massive overkill-weaponry against any potential riots. And as those riots happen, as those angry mobs storm the embassys, just napalm the whole gang. End them.

I think it is funny that Gen. Petreyus (however it is spelled) says that burning the Quran will put soldiers at risk. Derrrr! They are already at risk by virtue of being at war! And what is better, is that they are at risk because they are attempting to defend, and deliver the rights to do things such as burn Qurans, to people who don't have these rights and who are subject to tyranny!
