"Rain won't you tell her that I love her so, please ask the sun to set her heart a glow, rain in her heart and let the love we knew start to grow."... Wow, gotta love this song!
I was on the same ship (USS Jason Ar-8) when these guys were getting together. We used to listen to them rehearse on the fantail deck. never thought they'd make it,though! that was many moons ago.
@haybee12, Hi haybee, that's Sonny Webb and The Cascades in the photo, from Liverpool, they get confused with the original Cascades from America quite often.
SoCal had the Cascades, but the musicality is amazingly similar. I tried to post a link but it didn't work. Do a You Tube search of 'Could be We're in Love' by The Cryan Shames.Good place to start...
Nice picture, but the group in the picture is SONNY WEBB AND THE CASCADES the 1960s liverpool country band, who pretty good themselves check 'em out :)
@94MikeJ Theres actually a funny story involving Sonny & Co +'rhythm of the rain'.Vocalist kenny johnson of Sonny and co. remembers:'We went on a 10-day tour of Ireland and people were saying 'Do 'rhythm of the rain'. But we didn't know it,the promoter said 'learn it or you don't get paid!'We then found out why people had requesting the song.Instead of our full name,we'd been billed as 'the cascades' who'd had a big hit in he charts! We learnt it and honestly we ended up singing it on irish TV!'
I always thought this was a really sad song, despite some lovely memories of this song, it usually makes me sad....and who didnt build forts out of blankets and chairs ..lol
ya know if you ever hear this song it just sticks with you year after year! What great bunch of singers and the music unbelievable! Who ever put the lyrics to this song gets a A-plus in my book all three what a wonderful combination ya got to love it thank you for putting this wonderful song on!!!
My husband, I and grand daughter Alee were sitting on the porch this afternoon and she was scared of the thunder so he started singing this song to her.
Wow! The Cascades IS the sound of my early childhood, no doubt! This song's lingered on my mind throughout my life. It brings back so many lovely images. That's the song I loved to hear when I got back home, from school, with my brother! Before doing homework, doo-wop with The Cascades was always there, to inspire me! Great feelings! Thank you!
i heard this song a while ago played by a street musician and i finally know what song it is :D he had slightly different lyrics and played it faster but it was nice too :)
I remember the first time I heard this song was in a TV commercial of double arrow gum. I was 7 and thought " How refreshing this song is!" and I fell in love with it. Although I didn't find this song's name at that time, I remembered the melody. Then 11 years later. I heard this song once again in a cafe and I was thrilled!! Today, I heard this song on tv in a 60's song's commercial and I finally find the name for it!! It's called " Listen to the rhythm of falling rain"!
I've been listening to this song since I was 5-6 or so. What a nice classic song. This song cover version has been made in many innumerable languages your name it ... aha mostly :-)
I remember when I was 3 years old. Seems like they played this song only when it was raining out. While my Mom would wax the kitchen floor, My older sister and I would use the kitchen chairs and build a fort with our blankets in the living room. It's cool when a song can jar your memories!
@dennello omg me and my sister used to make forts out of blankets and chairs too! but not while listening to this song lol. i dont usually listen to oldies but this is one of my favs. my parents used to play it when i was little and then i heard it again when i was older and really liked it. its a claaaaaassic :D
that is so cool, I was six, my mom was doing the same, and we were not allowed to be in the house, we HAD to play outside. Tthanks, one of my fav childhood songs
@aliceparsley1 Isn't that amazing! Just like marshmellowcup! Your a couple of years older then me it looks like. My Mom usually only kick us out of the house when she was tired of us on any particular day.
@aliceparsley1 - Sounds very familiar;in our home;My Mom would say the same thing;one time she wouldn't let us in as she was washing the floor;we damn near froze to death before she let us in!!haha

@RofArk , Wow, that's interesting. I e-mailed John Gummoe a couple of years ago and
told him how much I like the song. He e-mailed back and thanked me, and said I should
listen to his new rendition of it and that I might like it even better because it has more feeling in it. So I did and I didn't, LOL.
