its sad to see airbus blame the pilots. all in all air transat maintence messed up and there were 2 amazing pilots to deal with it. and for someone to say hes not a hero is pitiful. he saved your life. he did the right thing. ive been fortunate enough to fly transat with captain piche as the captain of the flight from toronto to amsterdam. it was about 6years ago. i wouldnt of known if my mom hadn't known about him. im flying with transat in 2 days as well. HE IS A HERO.
Airbus should take the blame for programming a computer to give off multiple warnings that don't correlate.
Air Transit did deserve the blame for the faulty maintenence/handling of the airplane and putting people at risk KNOWING they were using a different part not ment to be fitted on this plane.
and Pilots don't deserve any blame considering they were the ones to handle the situation in real time. the important thing it comes down too is they saved all lives.
@Sharod101 The reality is that saving the plane doesn't absolve the pilot's errors in reacting to the mechanical failures of the maintenance crew. Did they save the plane and everyone on board? Yes. Did they make errors while trying to deal with the problem which led to bigger problems? Yes. Don't forget that if Air Traffic Control hadn't given them a last second flight course detour to avoid congestion which brought them in range of an airport, those pilot errors would have killed everyone.
