Beer Review # 500 Russian River Pliny The Elder

As amazing as Pliny the Elder is, Pliny the Younger is even better!!! I just got back from RRBC and I almost cried when I tried Younger.

I really like cloudy/hazy ipa's vs the super filtered ipa's, just seems like it's a bit more pungent when it's got a haze on it. Good review man, Cheers!

@Gregsbeerreviews Im sippin' that Pliny as I type. This is an amazing beer. There is literally nothing that I can find wrong with it, and I can be quite a nitpicker. I was blown away how after I opened it, I could still get a strong hop aroma even with the bottle nearly 20" from my face. Hopslam, Sculpin, and Nugget Nectar are excellent beers and some of my favorites...but Pliny wins, hands down. That smooth, crisp, quenching feel is unheard of in a DIPA. Wow, just wow.

Congratz on 500 reviews. A great beer. Freshest bottle I ever had was 11 days old. It's beers like this that make me realize how awesome it is living in California. My beer guy in L.A. almost always has this in stock and no bottle limit. :D

Grats on 500! Although a lot, if not most, current IIPA's are hoppier than Pliny, the malt balance and craftmanship behind Pliny is what makes it special to me. It is so damn drinkable.  Definitely not overrated in my book!
