@greggg34 You're comparing apples to oranges. Do Kreitler rollers have any resistance built into them to more accurately simulate the feel of the road? I didn't think so.
@ffiaux These rollers aren't typical in that you're not able to wind them up as easily as other rollers. The back roller is weighted and acts as a flywheel to help create a more real road feel. I've probably had them up to 35 mph but not much more than that. They're very safe.
@ffiaux I've done three weeks on the rollers. You can stomp the pedals as hard as you like as long as you are straight, smooth and balanced. I've had mine up to about 55km/h and averages between 35 and 40 KPH.
It'll take a while before I am willing to get out of the saddle. I like them though.
I've had the TruTrainer for a few months now and use it very often. It's the only trainer I have ever used, but I can't imagine always riding without resistance and inertia. It's and excellent product.
I'm looking for a set of rollers that duplicates road feel, and effort, as standard rollers have unrealistic resistance. Video is a good evaluation tool, but concentrating on the 'profile' view of the wheels and their connection to the rollers would help, over aiming the camera at the rider. TruTrainer claims something very close to a real road 'feel'. Can you confirm this? For example, do you have pulse rates at certain speeds and gears, for the rollers as compared with the road?
Rollers?! You're a far braver man than I am. I hear they're good for smoothing out your pedaling, though. Still, I think I'll stick to my trainer. I'd kill myself on those bloody things.
I'll take your word for it. I think I'd want a whole bunch of padding on the floor and walls the first time I tried 'em though. Better have a paramedic handy, too.
Not as quiet as Kreitler Rollers....

How hard can you hit on the pedals and still feel safe? What max speed do you get on the rollers? I think you can only spin on the rollers.

I see so many people saying they have a hard time keeping the bike on the rollers...how come? It's not that difficult...

some people find it hard to go "straight" on rollers and they tend to swerve which makes them fall off...

They don't take a lot to get a feel for but you do have to pay more attention than you would riding a fixed trainer.
These give every bit as good a workout as my Cateye Cyclosimulator 1000...probably better.

The recommended way to try them the first time or two is to position them between a doorway so you've got the door frame close by on either side.
Search some of the other videos for rollers and you'll see all sorts of approaches with many providing some good entertainment.
