The pilot got lucky but I think he screwed up just before he took off. The forward flight contributed to the accident.. Looking at it and I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but if he'd have waiting till the boat rose up and just as it was to go down lift the chopper up, straight, not forward. Keep going up. When well clear of ther deck, fly away and up up up.
