never been given a great role? what is he talking about? Peter Moralas in Mystery Street and Pablo Rodriguez in Border Incident are both tremendous roles.
Mr Roarke, for all it's smaltz, wasn't half bad either.
This artist could read recipes from Betty Crocker and it would be the most passionate bad ass throw down you've ever heard. he will be missed and forever remembered! oh and p.s. how cool is it to hear his best role was playing Khan?
Hard to believe that he was paralyzed from the waist down. He indured excruiating back pain for decades and in 1993 after a 91/2 hour operation he was left partially paralyzed. This man was tough as nails. All Mexicans and Americans should be proud of him - I sure am.
the guy was a fuckin pimp, and running at 100% until the day of his death. i mean just look at him, he's ALL THERE. no senility or lose of dexerity what so ever.
@MpowerdAPE "I'll chase him around the Moons of Nibia and around the Arterus Maelstrom before I give him up" (breathes through nostrils and recomposes himself) "Prepare to alter course"
In the early Warner Bros. noir collection, Ricardo looked a lot like the young Sean Connery...and those noir collections are a knockout. Go front projections folks...around 80 inches...a little hi fi sound, and you'll flip out....
lol i actualy didint stop to realize that the star trek universe lost a legend lol ok this vid has given an insperational idea to make a special edition video called the star trek hall of fame :D so common people i need ideas for this new video ideas k give me a pm with any ideas for my star trek hall of fame video thks.
I wish I had met Mr. Ricardo Montalban, but unfortunately, I never had the chance. He always sounded so humble, sincere and honest. I read his book, and I loved it. There were so many things I could relate to. I was in Buffalo, New York when he was still doing Fantasy Island, and one day I decided to send him a card for his birthday. The days went by, and one day when I opened my mailbox, I found a big envelope from him. He had sent me his autograph. I could not believe my eyes!
Met the man himself in 2002.over 1000 people were there to get autographs,i was the very last 1 in line.he gave me his autographed pic, then looked up at me,i said "thank you sir,you look amazing.he raised his hand in true montalban style and said loudly."YES, OH YES"i made his day and he made mine.he was the best.
Ricardo Montalban was one of the least utilized & talented actors in Hollywood.
When he commented about his role in Wrath of Khan - he is absolutely right. With that limited role, he 'made' that movie. Imagine how many other movies he could have contributed to?
Hollywood bias, but that said, his attitude and life is an example to others.
Rest in Peace, truly one of the Greats actors of our time.
I'll take it a step further. He MADE the Star Trek movie franchise. Star Trek 'The Motion Picture' was a flop. Horrible movie. If not for the brilliant performance by Ricardo 'Wrath of Khan' would not have worked. But because of his legendary on-screen performance the movie is a classic and paved the way for many more Star Trek films.
I agree totally that his talent was underused severely.
Well Ricardo's great performance does help a lot. But I don't think he's the movies only great strength. I think the themes of the movie are great as well as the emphasis on kirk and spock's friendship.
The Maxwells are stingy with their coffee. I've been over their house a million times and all they offered me was tequila. Ricardo Montalban was the only actor whose claim of being Ricardo Montalban would I believe.
I liked his role as Khan in "Wrath of Khan" episode of Star Trek. One of my role models, along with Tony Soprano, to some extent. And Captain Kirk and Spock, of course.
Every role he played was filled with passion. He never had a bad performance. He is missed!

So many of us sci-fi guys remember him as Khan. Others, see him for what he really is, which is a wonderful person, gentlemen.
...Man, us sci-fi guys didn't have an accurate representation of him =P
But honestly, incredible actor... and a real shame, a real loss. What a wonderful person.
