1:40 Yeah, that boss is pretty easy. How nice of them to give you a plentiful supply of arrows right before the boss. Imagine them giving you something right before you actually need it. What a concept!
Link to the Past is by far my favorite zelda game, and deffinitely the one I have beat the most often, its everything I loved about games growing up in a single package, in short, imho its perfect
hey if you pick up the sign at 10:14 the guy says something and then follows you till you leave off screen of course. Great for messing around whenever I played the game.
And actually hcbailly u actually can start at the beginning of a dungeon in this version of the game, but only when u die its happened to me many a time in that dungeon due to lack of basic swordsmanship skills XD
@bdude1234567890 I can beat it about the same speed.. but then again, I used to play through this game like every weekend when I was a kid, so I had plenty of time to get really good at it.
HCBailly, aside from Seiken Densetsu 3, have you ever played any Japan-only RPGs from the 90s like Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia or Live A Live? I think it'd be killer if you tried your hand at LPing any of those :)
Also, if memory serves, a couple of those were re-released for portables in North America, so even those versions would be pretty sweet to see.
there is a little trick you can do with those green things, next to the witch's hut... sprinkle magic powder on them, and they turn into whatever, the next trick is freeze them, then hit them with the magic hammer and they go back to normal.
@bingostar826 I never played Skyrim because I didn't think it looked that interesting(And Skyward Sword came out like 1 week after Skyrim and I was waiting for that to come out.), but I went to check out the opening song... Eh.. I've heard better, but that's just my opinion.
@axemranger A reference to a speech by I don't even remember who. Instead of "obvious" and "secret" though, he was talking about "known" and "unknown".
@zebezd No, I got what you were saying, and I knew exactly what you were referencing. I was going along with it. XD The "known and unknowns" thing is from The Boondocks, which used that in reference to Pulp Fiction.
The fairies in Ocarina of Time sounded a lot scarier than they looked. It seriously sounds to me like they just got stabbed in the back and are dying when they supposedly laugh... *shiver*
Wait...can't get yet? I'm certain you can get the ice rod now, because I remember that it does crazy damage against the next boss. All you need are bombs and the ability to dodge murder crabs.
do you have the ps3 version of skyrim? I heard that has the most gamebreaking bugs in the ps3 version =( so that's why I'm on the fence on getting it since like you I just have a ps3, though you did just get a super computer.
Hey HCBailly I have an idea for an LP for you to do in the future. Consider LPing Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song for the PS2. I suggest it because you LPed the Final Fantasy Legend series for the GB, which as I'm sure you know are part of the same series. Also Romancing SaGa has kickass music.
@corporalkills He elongates vowels all the time on words for emphasis, "Secret Treaaasure" "Secret Paaasage" "Piece of Pooowa!" etc. It's like a catchphrase.
According to Assassin17's ALttP "Monster/Attack Stats Guide" on GameFAQs, there is indeed no damage difference between a normal sword swing and a dash attack.
I'm surprised that you didn't grab the sign next to the "average middle aged man." It's actually kinda amusing if you do. If you've never done it before, do it for a chuckle.
I bet you didn't know you coukd Boomerang the Armos Knights to death. You should only do this in the Link to the Past Rom Hack Parallel Worlds in one of the first dungeons. I think it's Farore's Isle you have to do that in. ElectrometorPrime showed that to me.
After all this time of playing this game, your LP's still always shows me new things. Like throwing that fish in the pond for Rupees. Never knew you could do that.
Also, with those fish. Did you know you can give a fish to the bottle salesman in Kakariko, and he will give you Rupees and items? Pretty silly, I found this out when I was very young.

@antigravity19 Welcome to the world of those who like Majora's Mask the best. Seems like most of the Zelda fans hate that game. One game can't please everyone, and that includes Ocarina of Time.
@ZealSeraph Well one, I said I probably do enjoy my first gaming experience ever in gaming on Legend of Zelda better. Two because you think Majora's Mask was better, doesn't mean you should bag on the game that set the precedent for that game. Not going to say Ocarina was perfect but it was good. HC had the same issue I had first time, but I still love the game
@ZealSeraph I loved Ocarina of Time, but Majora's Mask was a superior game on a technical level. Graphically, they were pretty much identical but MM offered so much more in terms of NPC interaction and development, radically different gameplay mechanics and appropriate settings to apply them in, and a more interesting goal than the standard "save the princess, beat the bad guys...again". Both had amazing music, so I'm divided on that. I don't understand why so many people don't like MM.
@c4bb4g3 Dude this is going on years now HC ragging on Ocarina. I'm just joking for the most part. I had the same issue he had and still love the game. Just want him to give it its fair chance. I still have never played M.M. Looked too similar to Ocarina, also didn't have too much money as a pre-teen/early teen to buy it
@antigravity19 gotcha. MM is far superior on a technical level to OoT, though. I understand not having the money for it back in the day, especially when you had to buy that extra cartridge thing for your N64 to make it work. I posted a comment on this video about why I think MM is better gameplay and story-wise. I still love OoT and always will, but the subsequent games were just better. OoT has the breakthrough factor; it was the first 3D Zelda game and nostalgia will always reign supreme.
@c4bb4g3 Yeah, I personally thought MM looked too similar. Also just thought about it, that was when I got a PS2 aswell. Only went back to the N64 for nostalgia after that.
I am curious if there is a good what to emulate 64 games. I wouldn't mind going back and playing MM now
@antigravity19 I personally use a Logitech gaming controller. However you can use any usb controller. Like a wired Xbox 360 controller, it has to be wired tho it cant be the wireless with a plug and play charger
Ah Turok 2 Seeds of Evil..... the game that made me realize how much I took save points for granted. It would ON AVERAGE take you about 3-4hrs just to find a save point! HOLY COW!
If you take a fish to the man who sold you a bottle, he can buy the fish from you for more than the rupees you would earn from throwing the fish in the water.
Hey HCBailly, lift up the sign next to that man near the end who said nothing except ... ... ... if this is the right zelda game I'm thinking, just walk around and you'll something funny will happen.
A few times I've beaten the Armos Knight with just the Boomerang. Took a while though...
And I'm not that familiar with the Skyrim games either. I've seen some vids on YouTube, but I can't see how you can play an RPG in the first person. Would be a bit uncomfortable to me.
I've been playing a lot of Skyrim lately, and yeah that's nearly all I've been doing as that game is addictive as hell.
In Skyward Sword you can hold down A to run for a little while, you have a stamina meter and if that depletes you walk really slow. The thing I found most strange about SS is that there is no boomerang in the game, it felt odd playing a Zelda game without one.
@JP317 but it is replaced by the amazing Beetle!! I live that item, such a fantastic addition and makes more sense for picking up and dropping items than a boomerang. I love the boomerang, but its cool that they changed it up.
Heh, personally, I've also loved beating the first boss with only the sword xD It's possible to attack them with normal slashes with the sword, but the spin attack obviously does more damage. But really, I've always preferred to fight them with the sword because... I don't know. I guess I just do ^^; Maybe I just like the boss music a lot, heheh.
HCBaily, have you considered doing a Let's Play of any one of the Megami Tensei games? They're quite good in my opinion, particularly the Persona series.
I forgot how good this game was. I just love the world of Hyrule in this game. There are little secrets EVERYWHERE, so exploration is key. That's where the fun really comes from, rather than say puzzles in dungeons (which aren't very common).
I'm not really a big fan of western RPGs myself. Every now and then, I'll play one that I get addicted to for a while, but I've never found any to be GOOD so much as addicting.
You were suppose to say " release the Kraken"

The soldiers are over there failing to track down the Elder or Link.
Once I got all four bottles, I liked to keep 2-3 Faeries and 1-2 Blue Potions and sometimes a tame bee from the ice cave for fun.
It was dumb in the remake how they kept Link's synthesized falling noise and layered the new vocal yell on top.
That faerie laugh in OoT still haunts me.

If you take a fish to the man who sold you a bottle, he can buy the fish from you for more than the rupees you would earn from throwing the fish in the water.

You know, I've never actually beaten this game... but seeing you start this LP, it made me get out my old SNES and this.

I *think* if you mess with the sign by the quiet guy, he gets mad.

@CuttSoldier Yeah, he'll chase you down and throw a fit.

HC is one of the games you are playing final fantasy V because the saves on that are ridonkulous

they have a dash in Skyward Sword, but it's no pegasus dash...

I'm not a huge fan of western RPGs either!

does anyone else notice that in the little puff of smoke that comes off when you kill an enemy, it kinda looks like a shy guy's face?

Hey HCBailly, lift up the sign next to that man near the end who said nothing except ... ... ... if this is the right zelda game I'm thinking, just walk around and you'll something funny will happen.

HCBailly, did you know you can cheese the next boss with the ice rod?

@6:21 And I know that "three hour dungeon" that HC's referencing is the Great Crystal in FFXII :D

you can use the pegasus boots to run into the cracks in the walls. Sometimes they might open up without needing bombs

I agree with you HCBailly I don't like western RPGS that much either. But I guess Skyrim was an okay game. But still not my favorite RPG ever.
gamerkid44311 3 months ago
A few times I've beaten the Armos Knight with just the Boomerang. Took a while though...
And I'm not that familiar with the Skyrim games either. I've seen some vids on YouTube, but I can't see how you can play an RPG in the first person. Would be a bit uncomfortable to me.
SilentWeaponsIII 3 months ago
I've been playing a lot of Skyrim lately, and yeah that's nearly all I've been doing as that game is addictive as hell.
In Skyward Sword you can hold down A to run for a little while, you have a stamina meter and if that depletes you walk really slow. The thing I found most strange about SS is that there is no boomerang in the game, it felt odd playing a Zelda game without one.
JP317 3 months ago

Smartass7777 3 months ago
Wait what, of course you could get the Ice Rod if you wanted to, all you need is bombs if memory serves me right.

@RagingRabite that's correct and actually you can get it before the first dungeon even.

I used to play a lot of J-RPGs but then I took a scattershot of FFXII, FFXIII and Cross Edge to the knee...
Serious almost every newer J-RPGs I know doesn't appeal to me AT ALL though I used to play a bunch of older games.
RagingRabite 3 months ago
You play WOW dont you HC? So you must like Western RPGs, besides Westerners invented the RPG genre but the Japanese perfected it.
toaker 3 months ago
Dear HCBailly,
Skyrim is an amazing, well-written, engrossing game that is more than a game: it is an experience. And I think you would hate it.
scarletspeed7 3 months ago
I forgot how good this game was. I just love the world of Hyrule in this game. There are little secrets EVERYWHERE, so exploration is key. That's where the fun really comes from, rather than say puzzles in dungeons (which aren't very common).

I'm not really a big fan of western RPGs myself. Every now and then, I'll play one that I get addicted to for a while, but I've never found any to be GOOD so much as addicting.
