I got your humility right here, Chambliss. Bend over and kiss it.
Oh that address to congress? The one where a republican displayed a lack of respect for the commander in chief never previously seen in our nation's history? That address?
Oh mah gawd. I could not be more sick of the republican bullshit this season. It's like they think they are the majority party. Show humility...fuck you.
When you show the tiniest hint of a shred of respect for Obama...then we'll think about it.
Saxby Chambliss ran campaign ads calling his opponent, a dude who got his legs blown off in Vietnam, an anti-American terrorist. He is the last person on EARTH who gets to lecture other people about being respectful.
Yea, I know Saxby is not my senator. It sickens me to see that many Republicans can't draw the line between what can and cannot be used in their campaign ads. To them everything no matter how crude and personal it may be is fair game.
Humility? Really? After all the idiocy and thuggery directed towards the President by the republican party, this cretin has the balls to tell Obama to show "humility"? I've got some humility for the Senator right here between my legs!!
What the hell does Palin have to do with this? She's old news! She couldn't even handle finishing the job Alaskans elected her to do, and she was dumber than dirt. The bad things that happened, (and will probably keep happening), to her are of her own creation, pal. Her latest claim about the so-called "death panels" just goes to show how ignorant and stupid she can really be. Don't defend that which is indefensible.

Hmmmm... It was the teabagger element that showed very little class over the summer, with the hateful speak and rhetoric. The GOP incited this ignorance and helped to spread lies all across the country.
Chambliss suggests that the President show humility? I read that statement as "We have a confident and intelligent president. My constituents here in the south see that is being uppity. We don't like uppity black people, even if it is our president."
Unlike some other Southern States like Louisiana, Mississippi, & Alabama, Georgia is quickly becoming a toss-up battleground state and Chambliss, with his narrow-minded bigoted views, will be history!
I've spend my whole adult life (well,at least the last 2.17 years) working for a kinder, gentler YouTube, where people have manners, foul language is shunned and the fact-based, citation-rich argument is revered. I have the following to say on this subject:
Right. This coming from a twat waffle coward who thought Max Cleveland (his political opponent and a parapalegic) was aligned with Saddam Hussein. Hey Chambliss - YOU show some humility. Your side lost. Get over it you un-American piece of shit.

The President is NOT being honest with the American people and he cannot continue to deceive them. If he wants single payer, government run healthcare, then he should say so. He knows that a government funded public option is the first step towards single payer.
You're totally misrepresenting the President's position; he HAS stated, clearly, that single-payer is his favored solution. However, he has also acknowledged that single-payer isn't supported by a majority in either house of Congress, and because of that FACT, the President has expressed a willingness to consider other proposals.
The 'public option' is not a stealth single-payer plan. Fact is, EVERY country that has 'national health care' still has private insurers, so quit your fearmongering.
Respectfully, I am not misrepresenting anything. It is the President who is. He says you can keep your insurance but he cannot know that. With all the new mandates on insurance companies, many will go out of the buisness.
It all depends on how the public option is set up. If it is funded by the taxpayer, it will kill private insurance. Your comment about those with national healthcare still having insurance is flawed. It is only for the very rich and on top of the national system.
If you lie to the American people we will call you out Mr. President. You are making promises you know you cannot keep. If you force insurance companies to cover everyone with pre-existing conditions with no caps, many will leave the market completely while others will charge substantially higher rates. You know this Mr. President. This will drive more and more people into the government option (joke). I won't be able to keep my insurance if the company does not write insurance anymore.
Not at all. I see lots of things wrong with the current system. I also see that the government is the cause of most of it. I also know that MORE government involvement is not going to fix the problem.
The dirty little secret is this. The Democrats have no choice. They have to take over the whole system to cover up the fact that Medicare and Medicaid are going broke. The inefficiency is that they do not pay the true cost of care leaving providers with the tab. It is just that simple.
Point well taken. So what do you suggest would be the "ideal" solution to the healthcare crisis that has engulfed the nation? Less government involvement would be a good start? How do you make healthcare affordable?
So you would make the assertion that any nation (UK and France for instance) that has government deeply involved in healthcare provision is a "failed state"?
First, there is never an "ideal" solution. However here is what I would do to begin to solve the problem.
1) Make it illegal to charge different prices for the same medical service. Regardless of WHO is paying the bill, everyone pays the same price whether insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or CASH customers.
2) Require every individual to have private catastrophic health insurance. Those who cannot afford it due to HEALTH reasons would be provided a government option on a sliding scale.
lol That's the same reason "ideal" was in quotes because I knew that. If conservatives around the country believe in your pointers you've given here, why has that not been implemented? One word- greed.
So how about the last question about "government run" healthcare in England and France... you would say it's a "broken or failed system"? That is the assertion of FOX anytime they talk about healthcare. SO what's your take on that?
Socialized medicine around the world depends on our for-profit system to fiance the new drugs and treatments around the world. Every one of those countries use price controls and salary caps to control costs along with rationing care.
My contention is this. What drives up the cost of healthcare is NOT insurance. It is the cost of healthcare. Taking over the insurance industry is not going to control costs.
The government must take over healthcare because of Medicare is going to kill them.
No, I am not dancing around the question. They both have socialized medicine and both employ price controls, salary cap, and rationing in order to control costs. Their systems are not sustainable without the American market providing revenue to their medical companies and breakthrough drugs are discounted prices.
I don't want government controlled healthcare. The President does. He should man up and say so then make his case for it. Lying his way into it is wrong.
"I won't be able to keep my insurance if the company does not write insurance anymore."
This is like the fake poll claiming 40% of doctors will give up their careers if reform passes. Seriously? Insurance companies will just close for business?
Wiki "Stockholm syndrome." You suffer from it. You're here running flak for an insurance industry that has been raping you for skyrocketing premiums and if you get sick, will use any gimmick or loophole to get out of actually delivering coverage
I have not been getting raped by anybody but the government who has promised free care for senior and then shifted the cost to me and my insurance company.
Yes, insurance companies will close because of this reform package. That is the sole purpose behind it. There is no reform. It is a takeover.
Takeover, takeover...people who say that don't even know what it means.
When some south american dictator nationalizes foreign held industries and makes them belong to the government, that's a takeover.
People say Obama took over the banks. No such thing. Notice the CEOs are still in charge, voting themselves bonuses, paying back the bailout money and carrying on with business.
Yet Obama "took over the banking system."
It's nonsense and I'm tired of being nice to people who say it.
Nationalizing an industry can be done in many ways. One of them is regulating them out of business gradually. I have never said the President took over banking.
If you look at what the President said in his speech to Congress. The rules he laid out are designed to do one thing and one thing only. They will eliminate private insurance for healthcare. No company will accept an unlimited obligation for a limited payment.
right, because he said commonsense reform and you heard takeover and industry elimination yet I'm the uninformed person in this conversation, for some reason.
If the people running Insurance companies make tons of cash instead of lots of tons of cash, you really think they are going to throw up their hands and quit, and start pumping gas at some gas station or something? Why are you wringing your hands for the possible repercussions on an industry that takes your money and denies your care.
Nothing about what the President said had anything to do with common sense. He said that if I like my health insurance, nothing in the reform package would change that. He knows that was a lie. I did not hear takeover. It is what it is.
First, why do you think insurance companies make "lots of tons of cash"?
Second, my insurance company, like most, do not deny my valid claims. They pay them. They are not in the business of denying claims. They would not stay in business doing that.
Right, "most" insurance companies don't deny claims. Clearly that's why people are upset about the well documented practices of claim denial and recission.
If it hasn't happened to you, it just hasn't happened to you *yet.* For you to leap from your personal good fortune to "there is no problem" is amazing.
Insurance companies make tons of cash by raising premiums 4 times the rate of wage growth while increasing the out of pocket deductables. And by chucking sick people.
I mean, seriously...your defense of the indefensible industry practices, it's either that you have a vested interest or are a large investor in Humana or something, or the less flattering position of "I've got my coverage and have yet to experience any problems, so if other people can't get coverage or have been screwed by their insurers, nothing should change because that might affect me and my streak of luck."
You continue to avoid dealing with the actual proposals of the President.
I am defending nothing. I am stating nothing but facts. I have bought and paid for my own health insurance for decades. I know when I am being lied to. If the problem is that insurance companies are not paying valid claims, that is fraud. They should be prosecuted and fined.
Nothing is this reform is going to change that practice though. It is going to lead to high premiums and loss of coverage for many people.
it is about the uninsured, and also their mistreatment of the insured.
Reform.
Unfortunately, the total concession-based bill that Grassley and Backus cooked up in deference to their lobbyist contributors only delivers more premium payers to the insurance industry, while not reforming the industry at all. so if you don't want to see reform, you should love what's happening in the senate.
I want reform more than anyone else. The problem is that the President does not want reform, he wants a takeover. Besides that, he needs a takeover. Medicare is going broke and he needs to get us all on the government plan to cover it up.
Obama wants health care reform. Health insurance giants pay congress to vote in their favor, they pay lobbyists like Dick Armey to make astroturf groups like Freedomworks to stir up this sense of threat, that the industry is the victim of some government plot, how seniors will be killed by democrats, how Obama is a nazi, how the census will be used to deny care to republicans...and they got their money's worth because people like you want to know why Obama wants to hurt Humana
Nothing is so dangerous to political ambition as a cult of personality that arises in the opposition.
Republicans had Ronald Reagan. Now they see a potential Democratic version and are very reasonable in their worry over what sway on policy such a person would/could/will have.
The only method of stopping this, is to humiliate the individual to strip him of that power. Clinton had it happen to him, but Obama is far more 'dangerous' to them.
Chambliss is the Republican hero who saved Georgia from the paraplegic coward, Max Clelland during the dangerous days after 9-11, in which Georgia faced imminent attack from Saddam Hussein and the Ayatollah Khomeini.
Isn't this the same guy who talked about "uppity" blacks? Enraging!
Since they already think Obama is a facist dictator, I say he should just push through a full public option and tell the racist Republican minority to either go fuck themselves or their corporate insurance masters, whichever they prefer.
Troll Buster you beat me to the Punch here. You are absolutely Right on the Mark. Chambliss is a not only a Slave to The Insurance Cos and Big Pharms he is by my estimation a Down and Out Coward. He guarded that Library while 58,000 of my brothers got killed. Worse of all he was a Full Blown Vietnam War Supporter just like Bush and Cheney were - and we know how they esacped service to country back then as well
Humility huh? WTF! Has "your" country decided he's been acting to upity? You think the march on Thelma was bad? or MLK on the mall? Wait till you see100 million Americans marching up your ass for health care! No, a tea bag isn't gonna soothe this hemorrhoid!
From reading the comments present here I have deduced that many who have commented here learned their way to the Social Services Office, but never to a library. They all seem to be well read in cultural & sexual issues, but not in history & govt & the way our 3 branch, const'nl Republic works. And Thank God, it does work.
Obama should bow to some slightly organized idiots? Chambliss is a pretentious fool. I move that any congress person voting against health care reform shall be kicked from their current public health care plan.
Agreeing w/most all of the comments here. We've become so accustomed to seeing racism-in-deep-denial, that it's kind of a shock to see some unreconstructed cracker try to slip some near bald-faced racism past us.
Chambliss, your world view is a century and a half out of date. He (yes, the Black guy) is the by God, freakin' President, and you need to get used to that.
Translation: You betta' know your place, N****. (SIGH) it's a sad period in America when a small fringe of right wing racists are dictating the political discourse.
I hope he says "I tried really hard for bipartisnaship, But the GOP are a bunch of Brainwashed Fascists, so they can fuck off, and cry we're going single payer."
Im serious, If after all this shit obama doesnt fucking bitch slap the hell and pass a good bill, im sorry, but I cannot see myself trusting him on anything
If we get attacked again is he going to be caving like this?
I mean come on man have some self respect at what point do you say enough is enough you, me, outside, pistols.
What the FUCK should Obama be humble for?? So what if 20% of Americans proved themselves to be ignorant, selfish, hateful, racists over the summer? HOW is that something that Obama should "show humility" for?
I think what we are going to see is Obama dishing out humiliation towards the people protesting his plan which is better than the situation we have now without being able to offer their own. He's not taking this shit no more. Just listen to his speech on Sunday. That speech is just a little taste of what's coming Wednesday and he says so himself.
It's okay, I'm sure that Republicans would be saying that a Republican president must show "humility" in a speech to a Congress with vast Republican Senate and House majorities too.
Just kidding, of course. Because Republicans are hypocritical scum, you see.
chambliss has NO right to be giving statements of advice about policy making. He has done NOTHING productive in Congress. He's basically as useful as a dildo when you want to be pregnant.
Chambliss thinks Obama needs to show humility?! WTF? Where were his demands for humility when Bush/Cheney gave new meaning to dictatorial arrogance, not caring what the American people wanted or were polled as to thinking? If Chambliss thinks Obama needs humility, then he is nothing more than a hypocrite.
yeah who the fuck does he think he is? He is in the fucking minority now. Pay back is a bitch. I hope Obama tells republicans to go fuck themselves on wednesday. Better yet I hope he orders them all to move to texas and force them to secede from the union. I'm sick of conservitards subverting the principles of this country.
WHAT??? humility is in this a-hole's vocab???Where was that when he compared a vietnam vet who lost his limbs/legs in vietnam to saddam hussein to win the senate seat!? BTW guess whether sarah palin helped him win in the run off. YES! and she loves the vets... yea
I think Obama has shown more than enough humility this past month.
Did it get him anywhere? No. I think we've all realized that Obama is gonna be a called a dictator and a fascist no matter what he does, so he might as well just do what he feels like doing.
I didn't elect dumbfuck republicans to run my country. We've seen where their brilliant ideas lead us.
funny how the same people supported Bush when he was a war mongering, big spending, government expanding bull in a china shop...
funny how the same people ignore the trillions spent in Iraq and suddenly care about reading bills when a few years ago, the GOP was shoving legislation around saying if you disagreed you were "in league with Al-Qaeda".
These people make me sick.
Why does the president need to be bi-partisan with a party of racist religious nuts?
That "fucktard" is Saxby Chamblis, a Republican Senator from Georgia. It's meant as ironic humor that he'd call for humility, given that he unseated Senator Max Cleland in 2002 with one of the lowest, dirtiest election campaigns in history.
Cleland, who lost three limbs in Vietnam, was shown in TV adds juxtaposed to Osama bin Laden, insinuating that he'd be "weak" on terrorists.
Georgians ended up picking Chambliss, who sat out the war in a college library.
must show humility? That means they want him to Kiss Congress's Ass, i say kissing ass is how most politicians get into high offices so i say fuck it , kiss away.
Exactly. When Obama shows decisiveness they call him a tyrant and a Nazi, and if he shows humility they'll just call him a spineless wimp. Sadly, voters reward decisiveness more than conciliation.
Furthermore, if Obama signs a bill that's so watered down that it will accomplish nothing, they'll blame HIM for it, not Congress. So he may as well tell Republicans and blue dogs to go fuck themselves, push for whatever HE thinks WILL work, and vow to veto anything less than that.
No he doesn't. The Democrats can pass whatever they want to. Fuck republicans. No partianship anymore is what I say. We don't need to work with this tired out party, they now represent the minority.
Actually just the opposite is required, The President needs to start kicking ass and taking names. What the hell else can the Right Wingers do or call him at this point?
We are all Races Gender religions and Creeds We are working together, we will not fight amongst ourselves anymore. We are sharing information and resources, we will not base our lives on Possessions and Quantity any longer We have accepted new Ideas and Perspectives on Science religion Ethics Morality and Social Norms You had your chance to Help us, Now we are Helping ourselves. We are The United States of America
Hmmm Humililty! Of course that is what he wants the President to show.

GretchenDawntreader 2 years ago
Nationalizing an industry can be done in many ways. One of them is regulating them out of business gradually. I have never said the President took over banking.
If you look at what the President said in his speech to Congress. The rules he laid out are designed to do one thing and one thing only. They will eliminate private insurance for healthcare. No company will accept an unlimited obligation for a limited payment.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
right, because he said commonsense reform and you heard takeover and industry elimination yet I'm the uninformed person in this conversation, for some reason.
If the people running Insurance companies make tons of cash instead of lots of tons of cash, you really think they are going to throw up their hands and quit, and start pumping gas at some gas station or something? Why are you wringing your hands for the possible repercussions on an industry that takes your money and denies your care.
GretchenDawntreader 2 years ago
Nothing about what the President said had anything to do with common sense. He said that if I like my health insurance, nothing in the reform package would change that. He knows that was a lie. I did not hear takeover. It is what it is.
First, why do you think insurance companies make "lots of tons of cash"?
Second, my insurance company, like most, do not deny my valid claims. They pay them. They are not in the business of denying claims. They would not stay in business doing that.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
Right, "most" insurance companies don't deny claims. Clearly that's why people are upset about the well documented practices of claim denial and recission.
If it hasn't happened to you, it just hasn't happened to you *yet.* For you to leap from your personal good fortune to "there is no problem" is amazing.
Insurance companies make tons of cash by raising premiums 4 times the rate of wage growth while increasing the out of pocket deductables. And by chucking sick people.
GretchenDawntreader 2 years ago
Let's assume that most insurance companies are screwing their customers and not paying claims. What doesn't reform deal with that?
Instead, it takes the whole insurance industry and turns it upside down.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
takes the whole insurance industry and turns it upside down?
Good.
What we should have done to the banks instead of rewarding bad behavior with $700B.
GretchenDawntreader 2 years ago
Then you are willing to admit this is not about reform! Good, you are on the road to recovery then.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
Try to use your brain and think for yourself on what the President said:
1) No more annual or lifetime limits on coverage.
2) A cap on the amount of out-of-pocket expenses.
3) No more excluding pre-existing conditions or charge more for people's poor health or age.
4) No more raising rates when a person becomes sick and you cannot cancel them either.
Tell me, how would you respond if you were an insurance company?
Rates will go up dramatically or No more writing health insurance policies.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
You...must work for an insurance company. You think they are perfect and benevolent.
I take it then (by your 4 points) that you support:
1. cutting off coverage if people get very sick and need large claims
2. huge deductables
3. only insuring healthy people, or denying coverage for sick people
4. pricing out or dumping people who get sick, who need coverage the most.
What you're saying is we should protect insurance companies so they can make money by only covering healthy people.
GretchenDawntreader 2 years ago
I mean, seriously...your defense of the indefensible industry practices, it's either that you have a vested interest or are a large investor in Humana or something, or the less flattering position of "I've got my coverage and have yet to experience any problems, so if other people can't get coverage or have been screwed by their insurers, nothing should change because that might affect me and my streak of luck."
GretchenDawntreader 2 years ago
You continue to avoid dealing with the actual proposals of the President.
I am defending nothing. I am stating nothing but facts. I have bought and paid for my own health insurance for decades. I know when I am being lied to. If the problem is that insurance companies are not paying valid claims, that is fraud. They should be prosecuted and fined.
Nothing is this reform is going to change that practice though. It is going to lead to high premiums and loss of coverage for many people.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
I am not say any of that. What I am saying, which you are avoiding, is that what President wants is the elimination of health insurance, not reform.
I thought this was about the millions of uninsured people, not the insured people.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
it is about the uninsured, and also their mistreatment of the insured.
Reform.
Unfortunately, the total concession-based bill that Grassley and Backus cooked up in deference to their lobbyist contributors only delivers more premium payers to the insurance industry, while not reforming the industry at all. so if you don't want to see reform, you should love what's happening in the senate.
GretchenDawntreader 2 years ago
I want reform more than anyone else. The problem is that the President does not want reform, he wants a takeover. Besides that, he needs a takeover. Medicare is going broke and he needs to get us all on the government plan to cover it up.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
I'm done here.

Ah - the true motives arise.
Clinton had it happen to him, but Obama is far more 'dangerous' to them.

funny how the same people ignore the trillions spent in Iraq and suddenly care about reading bills when a few years ago, the GOP was shoving legislation around saying if you disagreed you were "in league with Al-Qaeda".
These people make me sick.
Why does the president need to be bi-partisan with a party of racist religious nuts?
micahgee 2 years ago 6
That "fucktard" is Saxby Chamblis, a Republican Senator from Georgia. It's meant as ironic humor that he'd call for humility, given that he unseated Senator Max Cleland in 2002 with one of the lowest, dirtiest election campaigns in history.
Cleland, who lost three limbs in Vietnam, was shown in TV adds juxtaposed to Osama bin Laden, insinuating that he'd be "weak" on terrorists.
Georgians ended up picking Chambliss, who sat out the war in a college library.
TrollBuster9090 2 years ago 7
must show humility? That means they want him to Kiss Congress's Ass, i say kissing ass is how most politicians get into high offices so i say fuck it , kiss away.
ExoneratedUndead 2 years ago
TrollBuster9090 2 years ago
No he doesn't. The Democrats can pass whatever they want to. Fuck republicans. No partianship anymore is what I say. We don't need to work with this tired out party, they now represent the minority.
