  • Unfortunately any non-RB20 nissan owner knows RB20's pretty much blow. Same displacement as an SR20 yet weaker and less potential. That's why I went RB26 in my 240. The evo would still give me a run for my money right now, because mine is stock with a tune. RB25's are great too, but RB20's are just not very good, which is why so many R32 GTS-T's swap out to SR's. Only KA'd 240's swap it out, even though the KA is a better turbo motor as well. They just 'like the sound of a six."

  • @0ukami I'm sorry but I would have to disagree very greatly with you. First of all, 6 cyl=Faster than 4 cyl. Now, I'm not saying four cylinders is slow. I have one in my sentra. But with a few bolt ons, high boost, and a good turbo a rb20 silvia would smoke a 20det silvia with a turbo, bolt ons and internal upgrades at high PSI. RB20's stock internals can handle so much mor than a 20de stock internals. Now if you upgrade RB20 internals, well then you get a beast. Nissan rider 4Life.

  • @HIGHrpmfanatic Well generally, you are right. But the RB20 is a design from an era before the SR20 is, so there is a technological gap. Stock for stock the SR20 puts out more hp and torque than the RB20 does. Yet also, fully built, I have not seen the RB20 do more than 1000hp (may exist, I haven't seen it ever), where I have seen quite a few SR20's manage it. Even with the best build I have not seen an RB20 beat the SR20. This is my opinion because this is what I have seen thus far.

  • @0ukami Good point. But show me even a 650WHP SR20 that is drivable on the street, where as the RB20 you can put like 800WHP easy and drive it comfertably on the street. All the high HP SR20's are usually on a strip or on a track or drift. There isn't a lot of RB's on the street here in the US because they are expensive to maintain/ and part availability are to a limit. In japan is where you see all the RB beast's. Lol. Either way dude, you are right. Nissan makes the sickest engine's. Period:)

I just never thought the rb20 was very great for drag/power since in 10 years of experience with nissan motors, I have never seen that much power out of a 20. However, I'm not saying it hasn't happen, and excuse my original post if I was wrong, but I'd like to see these motors, I'm very interested.

  • @Waizu91 dude there are 1000+awhp evo's that run 9's and are street legal. The evo is a much more sophisticated and advansed car compared to the 240. Not to mention the 240sx is good for basically 2 things...drifting and going in a straight line. The evo can handle well on any surface. Not to mention i've seen way faster times with evo's than I have 240's.

  • @crzygutrsnobrdr I could say the same thing about the RB there are plenty well over 1000hp, yes the evo is more sophisticated only because it has Variable Valve Timing and its Stability control, anti lock brakes, and traction control the 240 has only ABS and had a solid engine with not that much computer aids. Yes i know the evo is great on the corners and tracks however it still doesnt mean a 240 would loose. Just watch Best Motoring International here on youtube and youll see 240s somke evos

  • @modpunkoi ok 1. a stock evo is 276hp 2.if you look at the other videos it says "full, larger" or somthing of the sort..it has a bigger turbo and must be pushing a lot of power because you can tell it has an upgraded clutch by the way the engine revs after he shifts because it grabs so hard.

  • @tommyaj200 not stock but probly not much mods it depends on the driver I used to own an evo 8 and rids modded evos and stis all the time the stock rb swap should be around low 14's high 13's with the right driver and setup and a stock evo is in that area as well just most evo owners can't drive them the that extent but a couple bolt ons and a tune a medioker driver can pull it off I am saving up to do an rb20 swap but Idc for these highway pulls anymore I am strictly drifting and mountain runs

  • 4G63's "crank walk" were only recognized in the 2g DSM's. due to the cheaper internals. 1G's were built stronger. thats why most guys like to go for the 1st gen's 6-bolt motors, rather than the 7-bolts, found in the 2g's. the 4G63T's (92-07) and the newer evo's have 4B11T(i believe)

  • Ehem, where did you get that assumption that Japanese Evo's came with a rear wheel drive option? Also, you don't just disconnect the front cv axles, you have to take off the differentials, the axles, the whole front pretty much. Then you have to setup the ECU so it responds to only rwd. Then you must get a strong axle and differential for the rear, so it doesn't crack. AWD do have more traction in the short run, but after a while it loses power. But this Evo was obviously tuned for hi speed.

    My Evo IX (one in this vid) made 400whp and 417whp on the STOCK TURBO. I trapped 120mph. The RB20 240 trapped 105-6 all day long. Now the car has a "slightly" bigger turbo and a built motor and trans. $1000 cash says you aint got shit for me. Dig, roll, road course pick your poison.

And I'm gonna call BS o a stock SR20DET making 300 WHP at 14 PSI, when it only comes with about 210 WHP and is at 11 PSI stock and it has the shitty Garrett T-28 turbo, which has been reported by most people to only get you to 14 PSI. You probably don't even believe your own bullshit.

  • t28 looses its efficiency after 18lbs. the t25 is the one that barely makes it to 15. and ive seen t28s make 280rwhp at 14lbs with just a BC. maybe i lied a lil bit about the almost all stock thing. i got oversized pistons, eagle rods, injectors, AVCR, AFCNEO and a few more supporting mods (not power mods) im about to put on some BC272 cams with bc valve springs. and they come at 7psi stock . with a lil under 210rwhp.

  • Yeah, if you push the turbo too hard, it can break. The main problem is that the T25 and T28-BB are both ceramic turbochargers, which spool up faster, but are a lot more prone to damage to the blades—especially if you up the boost.

  • well, when your tuner has out tuned some of japans top tuners, the sr can get well over 300whp with just injectors.

  • I own the Evo. When this race took place I was running only Cams, TBE, and self tuned. The 240 is no slouch it trapped 105mph so do the math.

    Since I have upgraded to a 35r and Alky Injection :)
