The story of the killer lock keeper is not true! But the dead people all along the canal that dug it is true. for every mile of canal there IS a Irish man buried. That is historically accurate.
I live in Canal Fulton actually about a five minute from the Lock, and the stories of the place are passed down like clothes to younger siblings around here. You guys got the story dead on. If you sit outside the cabin at night around three A.M. you will occasionally hear what sounds like muffled screaming. It's quite creepy.
i walked the topath at night after i fished and i never seen nothing except maybe something in that old house like thing but i did hear something but my mother didnt...she said i was imagining things but i looked back and saw something glowing red in that window of that red building so it could be true...
@drudru1234 So lets see, just because you go there fishing all the time everyone should just forget what others have said about the lock for over 70 yrs. The countless articels and books.. I don't think so, u may have never seen anything but whos to say someone else hasen't. Thx for watching...
So what kind of activity have you experienced visiting this area. I have not returned to Canal Fulton in 9 years so I have no idea how it is like anymore.
Well, the thunder effect at the beginning of the video was the scariest part for me. My speakers were all the way up haha
But I've driven by the Locks at night and, I have to say, it looks like a cool place to explore. My only concern is finding a safe, close place to park. Are there any security cameras or guards on the premises at night? I want to take a walk through there sometime without worrying about trespassing charges.
I'm not sure about any of the security therebut we walked thru at about 130 am without lights and there was a group of 4, safty in numbers..It was well worth it and very excitting in total darkness..thx for watching
Have you visited Rogues Hollow yet? I went there for the first time this summer. I entered the hollow completely skeptical of paranormal phenomena in this area and left the place in shock. I wrote a [lengthy] Myspace blog about my recurrent trips to the hollow. I can send it to you if you're interested. I'll warn you in advance of the profanity haha.
me and my 4th grade class came here in august 2008 and we were on a train and i looked out side when the train was stopped and there was a man with an axe i turned to the teacher in the aisle and turned back and he was gone i said to my friend sitting next to me DID YOU SEE THAT!?! i told it over and over to people but they thought i was crazy even the teacher thought i was crazy if you want more info you can send me a message
Great story darkrai, there are plenty of stories I've heard like yours about that area, So your not crazy, I'm sure u saw just what u said u did.. Thx for commenting and watching..
I live across the street from Lock 4. I was on the path walking last summer when it was 90 degrees out. I saw a man coming at me on an old bike and didn't think to much until he passed me. He was he in old clothes and had a work coat(90 outside) so when I got to the end on Butterridge I turned around to come back and he came again, with a stone look on his face, this time when he passed by me I got cold, the hairs on my neck stood up. I turned around and he was gone..he disapeared. spooky stuff
This kinda reminds me of Beaver Creek State Park near East Liverpool. It has some abandoned canal locks, an old pioneer village, and an old Ghost town called Sprucevale
I've heard a lot about & have wanted to go to Beaver Creek. It is only my list of places to go see and we may just make it there this summer. Thx for your comment & watching...
Im from ohio too.....Im a lil scared now....not cause of da erie canal but my house is said to be haunted....when i go to the erie canal or IF I go there I'll make sure its in the day I'm freaked out dude.....
i went on a haunted ghost tour around and than afterward we went to the canal and rolled down our car windows to see if we could hear anything and we heard nothing. but the cops came and told us to leave. =p
did you go and put out a video and tape recorder and leave and come bac in the mornin? or even stayed the night? that would of been something to see and hear! Thank You :)
we didnt leave any cameras but we did leave a dvr hidden along the tow path and recorded so strange sounds but we will be going back this spring..thanks
the canal is really haunted I went there recently and we heard all this noises, we saw a figure on the pond,we got photos of orbs, and we got voice recordings it was so creepy
Maybe it is maybe it isn't were not a history site we go by claims of paranormal activity not history books. So we know from the start that there is bits of true in these stories and bits of embellishments. But thanks for watching and your comments....
We rode from the Visitors Center off Hillside down to Peninsula.. and wished we rode back the tow path in the dark with cameras!! very very creepy indeed!! lol
sure is... i went light shopping for my bike.. i think im going to get 2 headlights :) its funny cause i found out that towpath is open 24hrs..crazy no? i couldnt believe..i guess its hard to keep track of trespassers...so they said to hell with it.. and left it open. :)
