If u have trouble installing these speakers on 5.1 mode,try connecting only the game jacks in the woofer at [Game] and output into the green entrance from ur sound card and all the speakers will work perfectly. Don't forget to select game mode from the subwoofer.

I have now a Genius SW 1000, but i want to buy a 5005. I never been sell the 1000, I'll combine the 2 system's subwoofer, and I'll got +15w for bass.

I have this speakers and the are realllyyyy good ...the sound is very clear and it has very good bas.....i cost less than a logitech and i belive that genius has a better sound :D

sometimes when your system doesnt support 5.1 either all the speakers dont work..and somtimes one or 2 work!logitech x-540 for example,well mine works perfectly!

I want to buy ore these ore logitech x540...and I can't decide...here in my country a lot of people is revolted that the genius at aroorund 50% have serious distorsions, and they broke very fast...they are bad...the logitech has more clarity and fidelity...pls help me to chose! thanks

ramses862003. Keep in mind, that those who are saying one of them is better or worse are not always from the ones who had used both the systems. When I was chosing between x540 and 5005 I took the second one because it is made of wood, and saying that a plastic system has "more clarity and fidelity" is imo a nonsense. Cheers!

oh man..sincerly you're the most honest guy I've asked...the others told me some rubish explications...but I'll will try to test boot speakers (genius and logitech) in the same space (shop) and on the same PC. In the morning I asked an old friend who has the genius sw_hf 5000...but now it's broken... the amplifier died...sow I don't know (I'm not lucky in electronics)...but I'll go for what will sound better! Ok, this one should support multichannel sound. But to be sure you should check if your laptop has all the 6- or 8-channel audio I/O ports. For this one you need Orange (for subwoofer and central channel), Black (for Rear speakers) and Green port (for Front speakers).

That depends on the type of the soundcard which is installed into your laptop. If it supports 5.1 systems you will be able to connect the system and experience the same sound like on a dvd player or a desktop PC.

I use them with my xbox 360 ... and they play beautiful. Sound is full and tasty.

Iv connected them via old external DD 5.1/DTS decoder (2 bad they stopped production of such devices :/ )

I readed on the offical site that 5005 has higher frequency that the 5000 series .

5005 should have 50hz-20khz

5000 had 40hz-20khz.

Indeed, the official Genius site now shows that the frequency differs. That's weird because earlier the frequencies were even there. But the user reviews show that, as i mentioned before, the main difference is the design. I will try to post some comparing conclusions of other users soon. Stay tuned!:)

Well, as I have already written in the "About This Video" the main and imho the only difference is the design. As you may know the 5000 serie has two color types: Pear Wood and Beech Wood. When the 5005 has Black (called Silver sometimes but it's the same Black) and Cherry Wood. Also 5005 serie has some minor changes in the control panel design. That's all. I didn't met any information about the internal changes of the sound system, it could have some minor changes too.

Hah now that's a good question! Well, I tried to take them off (because there is such ability in 5000 model) but this model is NOT provided with such feature. I think there is a way to take the covers off but I don't think you'll be able to put them back after that :)
