  • very well choreographed, directed, edited ... great scene, great movie *___*

  • Luv the suit, the ruffled shirt, the haircut, the dance moves, the song & Davy himself (always have!) You can tell how much he loves the "biz" everytime he performs. Such a cutie!!! :D

  • The colors flipping back and forth is so epic.

    I love his voice/dancing here <3

  • "and if and when I have a son .... " I had three stepsons, down the street here from Dave, and lost one to drugs. Now I'm crying!

  • awe :( and now I'm crying! I'm so sorry :(

  • i love how the woman in the video is toni basil!!!! she's been around forever! love her.

  • The best movie of the 60s! So trippy and innovative. :D

  • Davy is awesome! I've seen him a couple times in concert (with Monkees and without Monkees) but was only able to meet him the 1 time long enough for the autograph and photo. What a great guy he is! Love this video, too. It's my favorite song from "Head." Monkee Love Always!

  • LUCKY!! :D Thats AWESOME!!!

  • WHOA @ 0:54

    I LOVE HIS DANCING!!!

ESPECIALLY IN Daydream Believer!!!!!!(but I wanna see his legs more in daydream believer)

  • I love his dancing too :) He's an inspiration

  • totally :)

  • HAHAHAHA hes a great dancer idk y but this video makes me laugh really hard

  • "That song was pretty white."

  • The same thing goes for Christmas...

  • GASP!

  • "That song was pretty white."

To which he responded, "Yeah, well, so am I, what can I say?"

  • "so am I mate, what can I tell you?"

  • I totally agree, Davy should be on dancing with the stars!!!Ive been saying that all along!

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH yeah! (then i would actually watch it haha)

  • I love your name! My daughter's name is Molly, and I've met Davy so many times I've lost count! He lives part-time in Beavertown, PA, just down the road from ME! Isn't this a snappy song! Great trumpets, and my daughter plays the trumpet for band, but REFUSES to try out this song! :(

  • thanks. cool, not many ppl spell it like i do, with an "ie" (i kind of like it better spelled like that, with a "y" ). and WOW thats SO AWESOME! :D

and its a bummer she won't try this out, its such a fun song :D

  • I've wondered why he lives in Beavertown..weird. I'm from Yardley which is about 3 hours from Beavertown :)

  • Did you realize that is Toni Basil dancing

    with him?

  • Yeah. I did. Thanks.

  • Great video!!!

  • hot stuff :P

  • He was so beautiful.

    oh, wait...he still is. :)

  • what are you smokin

  • MY DEER U ARE SO WERD AND COOL SONG BYE

  • Davy Jones is the epitome of coolness.

  • TrIpPy. Didn't Jack Nicholson have something to do with this movie?

  • Yep. I think he helped write the script. There's a diner scene that shows Jack.

  • Davy should be on Dancing with stars!

  • little trivia for ya the girl is tony basil the girl who sang mickey in the eighties.

  • Weird... yet, Very Cool.

Reminded me of Cuddly Toy mixed with Daydream Believer... I think. Loved the Cheesy dance routine and the Talking cow the best.

  • You do?

  • Monkees are ze caaaraziest peeepol

  • Talking cows RULE!!!

  • Talking cows RULE!!!

  • One of the coolest dance sequences ever! One of my fave scenes from the movie! I <3 Davy!!

  • Great song .... Harry Nilsson.Very autobiographical.And Davy is a groovy dancer.

  • Did you know that the girl dancing in the video was Toni Basil. You know, "Hey Mickey" from 1982.

  • dAVEY SHOULD REINTRODUCE THIS SONG IN A VIDEO BUT WITH A DIFFERENT TWIST. THERE ARE TWO WOMEN STANDING IN THE DOORWAY

  • The best segment in the movie.

    Bad ass.

  • I just got the urge to climb into the computer and hug Davy. Then I realized I can't do that. Davy is sooooooo adorable!

  • Ah, Davy, you're as gorgeous as you are talented.

  • Sweet...better than the album version if only for the 'quiet' section...

  • Why?

  • You know how Austin Powers makes fun of 60s and 70s movies? Do you think this is where he got the Daddy Wasn't There song? I mean, his outfit is almost the same. I love Davy!

  • I will always love this video. Let's see Davy on Dancing with the Stars!

  • no competition. he'd win hands down

  • I totally agree. He would give some of those youngsters a run for their money.

  • This is phenominal. It is perfect. No one could sing or dance to this song better then him. =) Good job!

  • It's too bad Toni didn't dance with Micky...that would have been funny...

  • Davy Jones is so cute that it's ridiculous.

  • Hats off to Toni Basil and especially Davy in this video. He's a really good dancer!

  • i love this movie. this is the best scene!

  • Davy was really a cutie and i had a crush on him as a teenager..to bad a grew taller..

  • Saw the Monkees Wembley Arena in London about 10 years ago and Davy Jones perfomed the dance routine while singing the song live! What a Pro! Toni Basil also excellent, it's kind of hard to work out how old she was when she done this, must have been in her teens!

  • *sighs* davy is....lol what can i say? he so cute! =)

and what about....mikey? hes kinda cute..and the hipie (cant spell it..) dude? he had very nice hair...he was blonde or still is dunno..peter! thats his name...lol and the guy with black hair...nice

  • that song was pretty white well so am i so what can i say\

  • Davy's like the most perfect guy--he's gorgeous, he can sing, he can dance!! And at 5'3", he's not short (I'm five feet)!!

  • Song was pretty white!! :-D

  • For some reason, this is my favorite part of the movie :) Davy's dancing is just so dangerous that it's great!

  • it's my favorite part, too!

  • GReat, great, great, a superb song as ever, the clothes are class and I would love to be able to do that dance routine in that garb.

  • btw, The girl dancer on here resembles either Olivia Hussey, or one of the Sagal Twins. (although Jean and Liz were too young at the time. LOL)

  • The female dancer is Toni Basil of 1980's "Mickey" fame!

  • wow! that's pretty cool! thanks for telling me that! (I loved that song Mickey when I was in junior in high...that's my nickname, too!! LOL)

  • Davey Jones will always be adorable to me. My kids love this video! (I downloaded a few years ago!!-It was poor quality, though) Thanks for posting this!

  • Cool song! "Head" is a very strange but highly enjoyable movie.

  • This song messed him up cause hes like "if and when I have a son..." yet he has 4 girls lol

  • hey does anyone know where i can get this song..im dying to get it off the net somewheres....and limewire wont work for that...so can anyone score me this song...please!...thanx

  • This is from the monkees film 'HEAD' soundtrack, original issues of the record are very rare and go for about £50.00+ but there are re-issues and it may have been released on cd now.

  • parts of this remind me of another song and i just cant place it - i keep thinking maybe steeleye span or something - the bits where he quavers the last word such as "When I grew up to be a maaaaan" Any ideas? I love this song can't stop watchin this vid :)lol

  • That is soo not the captain of the Flying Dutchman which I was searching for.

  • That comment just cracked me up!!

  • I love the flashes back and forth between black and white. Plus, Davy's voice in this is veddy nice.

  • This one is in my top 3 Monkee songs.

  • Wow, I haven't seen "Head" in years! Davy was so cute. Great video!

  • Ah, great stuff. My favourite bit of the film.

  • i just love this song it is awsome i love that it keeps switching back and forth and that in the end it is sad and then it is really cheerie

  • Man, I can't get enough of this!! I love it. The 1st time I saw it, the quickly-switching-back-and-forth amazed me. Lol.

  • head is a great movie

  • This is a great clip on so many levels; the juxtaposition of a very painful song with a very happy delivery. The editing is completely what makes it work. Toni Basil is unbelievably cute (and talented); she should have an a major star.... (I'm sure she would agree.)

  • I just saw this movie yesterday...omg I loved it! even though it was kind of hard to figure out, haha! Does anyone know if you can get this song anywhere? I can't find the head soundtrack at all!

  • you can get the soundtrack from Itunes

  • you can download it of off limewire or mp3 rocket...that where i got the song

  • Oh my GOD I love that scene. Hell, I love that movie. Fuck, I love the Monkees!

  • This is one of my favourite videos of all time. I wish they would've included this version on the Head soundtrack album.

  • its on the head soundtrack, two versions, one with mike singing and this one.

  • I do too. I love this version because of the way the last verse is set up; it's almost as if it was a one time live take. He just has so much emotion when he sings that last verse. Anyone who says The Monkees have no talent obviously never gave them a chance-one of my all-time favorite groups!

  • I wish Davy could have gone back to Broadway or something in the 70's. It seems The Beatles and Monkees were supremely talented people just exhausted by their talents by that point after the relentless 60's.

  • class

  • Great!

  • Well, TJ is Welsh and DJ was from Manchester.

  • This song/video is so awesome.

  • "HEAD" was screened recently at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX. Imagine this particular scene on the big screen! People were cheering.

  • davy rocks

  • allmost 40 years ago I took my gf. to the premier of Head.We got to meet the Monkees( we had won a radio promo)One thing I can tell all of you first hand is they were great guys and the talent is REAL it was more then the exec's who put the show together expected.

  • Davy Jones is one of the truly talented personalities to come out of the 1960's. Yeah the Monkees were a fake band thrown together by record executives in a boardroom, but it was sincerly hysterical to see them take their mass marketed appeal to an obviously intentional borderline frightening level.

  • Boy Davy loves the camera dont he ? Oh well i am glad he does love it ! Toni Basil?? No way She looks better here i would say

  • yeah, he's such a hoofer.

  • I really love the way Davy Jones Dances and sings in this video. He really is great.

  • This whole video was done so well. I love this song.

  • The woman in this little dance number is none other than Toni Basil. Yep, the same Toni Basil who sang "Hey Mickey". She probably chrographed this dance number as well. She chrographed concert tours for David Bowie (Diamond Dogs) and David Byrne's Talking Head video "Once in a Lifetime". She was a close friend for Jack Nickelson who produced the Monkee Movie Head. She also acted alongside Jack in the movies "Easy Rider" and Five Easy Pieces.

  • Ya she did. She gets credit for "choreography" in the film credits.

BTW, the reissued CD has a bonus track of Nez singing this song and to be honest, it blows DJ's version away but obviously they reworked it as a showcase for him in the film.

  • I could swear that the original film didn't have _any_ instrumentation on the last verse. Did someone dub in the album version?

  • Anyone else think the Dresden Dolls could have a field day with this?

  • gahhh.... harry nilsson sings this song so many millions of times better. shame. a bloody genius melody nilsson style. but this sequence is adorable, and i love this movie.

  • I like Mike's better, too. But, this little video rocks! I own the movie, Head, and this was one of my favortite parts. Groovy, Davy - too much! Plus, his smile and attitude make this a keeper.. Thanks for adding it!

  • I like the video for this a lot! Though Mike Nesmith sung a version of this too and I like it better. Mike's voice isn't as harsh and "showboaty" as Davy's... plus he sings the lead AND harmony!

  • What an excellent performance by David. I love the change of outfits between the black and white -- and he shows off in this video -- wonderful performance! Just wonderful!

  • Try as he might, Nilsson was not much better a daddy than his daddy...that's what I think this song is about, very personal

  • I love that sequence, it is perhaps one of the best edited pieces of cinema. Head has many beautifully edited moments, but it's never got the praise it deserved. Plus, I am an editor, and I look at the Daddy's Boy sequence before I go off editing, for motivation and inspiration, it really is a wonderful musical piece!!

  • I totally agree with you about the sequence that you love. And I also agree with you with the other stuff that you wrote about the video.

  • Brilliant. That's Toni 'Mickey' Basil he's dancing with btw.

  • Davy makes even the corniest dancing look cute. I like that you can see his blue and white love beads :)

  • Amazing! Davy is great dancer. He must have wings.

    Thanks for posting this video.

    I love Davy!

  • That song was pretty white ;)

  • ...what can I say? It's what I am!!

  • It was very Harry Nilsson though...love the songs Nilsson wrote for the Monkees

  • Me too, I think the Nilsson songs are some of the best Monkees tunes. Harry does them well himself though!

  • This clip rules, too bad you couldn't get the part at the end with Zappa and the talking cow. "Monkees is the craziest people!"

  • Davy is so cute,he is really a broadway-star....I also liked the video HEAD,thanks for this!

  • Thanks a million for posting Daddy's Song! It is definitely one of my fave Monkee tunes.

  • I don't care what anyone says, but Head was a great movie. I understood the film. Thanks for sharing.

  • Omg, yes. "Head" was the first time I ever heard this song. Thanks so much for posting it. Davy is just a weird little Brit.

  • he may be wired but so freakin sexy

  • OMg he so is sexy

i want him but in his young years

    =D

  • I've hugged him; he does have a nice body ;)

  • Lucky! Did you actually get a chance to talk to him? I'd love to meet him or see him in concert.

  • I've met Davy on several occasions, as he lives only 45 minutes from me. I wrote several pieces on him for a now-defunct fan magazine called "Davy's Devotees." They asked me to review some of his concerts, so I did several in PA. As you probably know, he lives part-time in Beavertown, PA, which is right up the road from where I live. I talked with him after all the concerts, which were all great!

  • That's cool. I would love to meet him. Hell I'd just love to see him in concert. Most of the stories I read about people meeting him say he's really nice.
