Lennon was bemused and amused by the highbrow commentary this song was given, the 'Aeolian cadences' thing, and replied by simply saying: "They were just chords, like any other chords." Hardly the Fabs' best song, but even a bad Beatles tune is better than 90% of the crap put out these days.
@ProjectFlashlight612 I'm not accusing you of calling this a bad song, but this is, in my opinion, a beautiful song. Very representative of the Motown/R&B influence on The Beatles at the time. Great song.
I've always wondered who John was singing about in this song but after listening to the song again and hearing the lyrics, I believe he's singing about his father. His dad did reappear during this time when they were filming A Hard Day's Night. A lot of speculation but it would make sense.
Great Song!

Favorite Beatles album cover, favorite Ringo drum break, Merseybeat at its best.
George Martin, monster of the keyboards.
Love the mental image of him in coat and tie, jamming with The Boys.

Oh man, a song like that and the critics say the old Beatles album cuts were "filler"...

Love that voice. More imitated through the years than Paul's voice. That's a fact.

This song told me not to give my boyfriend a second chance. But it was a good thing (HE DIDN'T KNOW WHO THE BEATLES WERE!)

@BabyDoll12328 - Anyone who doesn't know who the Beatles are should be sent to live on Venus forever.
